I have a lovehate issue with this rather fine car. After two years of ownership and 28K miles, I havn't had one problem with it. It drives like a dream, has decent fuel economy and it has all the space in the world and it has tons of raw power from it's lovely V8. Now on the hate side, I just found out that it's a big mistake to buy a LC new because of HUGE depreciation expenses after I purchased it new, of course. I spent a whopping 40 grand and I just found out that it's only worth 21 grand in just TWO years. That's 50% depreciation right there. Why these things lose their value sooooo fast, I'll never know. I'm going to keep this car for a long time so I can get my money's worth.

Strength:

- roomy and comfortable - powerful engine and smoothe transmission - well appointed with leather, chrome and wood - stylish look - above average reliability (Consumer Reports) - traction control and superb breaking

Weakness:

- steep depreciation (works in your favor if you're buying used) - requires premium grade fuel - handling could be "crisper" - stigma of being a car for older drivers only

Overall, the Lincoln Continental ('98-'02) represents a terrific used car value.

Strength:

There is unusual strength in the odors permeating from the car as each intricate mechanism fails and burns up.

Weakness:

Bumper too weak to utilize car as an anchor

I have an 88 Lincoln Continental. There are worse cars out there and I am sure if I live long enough I will find one. Everything I touch in this car falls off or breaks...I am now afraid to scratch myself when driving. This car has been towed more miles than it has been driven in the 3 years it has owned me. I have put $6000 dollars into this currency vaccuum in 2002.... and STILL, windows stop working, doors stop opening. I adjusted the mirror and the mirror fell off, I turned down the radio and the control switch fell off ... That didn't bother me long as soon the whole radio stopped working. I had to put an entire new Jasper long block engine in it at 85000 miles and for 2,500 miles I was temporarily lulled into thinking I might actually get from point A to point B when the transmission burned up. There are numerous, SERIOUSLY, numerous other idiosyncracies.. but I have raved long enough. I have a 40x40 shop with an automobile lift so I could keep fixing it but I already have a full time job. I change the oil in all my vehicles every 3000 miles...it might take a year to get that far in this poopus non movementus. For anyone considering buying one...What the Hell is wrong with you??... I am going to find someone I dislike and give it to them if the flowers I have planted within don't grow...

Beautiful exterior. Solid built car Excellent motor and transmission Stereo is superb Adjustable ride control georgeous spacious interior great quality and fit and finish

Weakness:

I haven't had the car long enough to make any determination. But the car feels and appears to be a very good quality vehicle.

I haven't actually been riding the car for long, so as far as maintainence I can't really give any advice. What I can say about the car is that it's an absolutely beautiful vehicle with a powerful and responsive motor and transmission. The interior of the car is so beautiful and quiet. You could hear a pin drop on the carpet while driving 100mph on the highway. It's amazing. I'm 35 and have owned alot of different cars, mostly new, and I can say that by the look and feel of this car that it seems like it will be a very reliable vehicle. I've read many different reviews on this site about this car and many of them talk about keeping up with the maintainence. It's like anything you own, if you don't take car of your stuff, it becomes junk. Also, I would imagine that any vehicle with this many high tech goodies is bound to have a few problems. The more stuff you have in your car, the more things there are to break. Some of my friends are even afraid to buy cars with power windows because they are afraid of them breaking, which they frequently do. I've had this happen many times. So, fact is, I know the car will eventually have some high tech gadget problems, this is the risk I'm willing to take to enjoy them while they work. Face it, electronics don't last forever you know!!

NICE JBL STOCK SOUND SYSTEM...NICE LEATHER POWER SEATS...STEERING...NICE RIDE...

Weakness:

AIR SUSPENSION IF NOT CLEANED AND LUBRICATED ONCE IN A WHILE...

I love my continental it had a few minor problems that I have fixed, like the ac o rings that blew out three times until ford advised me that the pressure switch needed to be replaced..28.00 did it myself..I Maintain my car and it is really holding up nicely despite the fact that my mechanic says its not a good car....I put 900 miles a week on my continental and it has only had the water pump changed and the brakes fixed in the last 2 years...CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 2,000 MILES AND CHECK YOUR FLUIDS IF YOU MAINTAIN YOUR CONTINENTAL YOU'LL BE HAPPY....

Strength:

The engine was very quite, and the power unreal. It looks and handles super.

Weakness:

Haven''t found any yet.

I just bought this car last night, and already I''m in love. After test driving I knew that I was a Lincoln owner. The car not only looks great, but the ride and handling were exceptional. For being a Cadillac lover all my life, (cause that was all that my dad would own) I have become a new lover of Lincolns. I can''t wait to take it out for a road trip.

Strength:

Power, Comfort and features per used price.

Weakness:

They made later years more conservative instyle and dropped the excellent JBL sound system

This was an excellent find for a used car. It had 70,000 km on it and was 2 years old when I purchased it. It has everything in creature comforts. The best stock sound tht I have ever heard, Leaher, Moon roof, cruise, heated seats (great in Canada eh!), A/C, driver memeory, traction control and on and on. The V8 provides lots of power while getting good milage. I think Ford were nuts to change the styling in later years to make it more conservative. I purchased the optional extended warranty from Ford but never needed anything more than normal maintenance. This is without a doubt the best deal I ever made.

Going from point A to point B for less than $1,000. per inch.

Fred Flintstone would be ashamed to trade his wheels in,even up,for this monumental waste of molecular space.Never, and I mean never has a bigger piece of junk than this graced the highways, that is if anyone should be lucky enough to get that far.I would list everything that has gone wrong with this sh****tmobile in the brief time that I''ve had it,but I''m 50 yrs. old,and life just is''nt long enough.
