everthing that you can think of If you are looking to purchase this year Lincoln, you better keep plenty of loot available on hand for repairs. As soon as you repair one thing you can bet that something else will go wrong the next day, and any repair to this vehical will be very costly. Similar Products Used: none; I have owned over 300 vehicals and I have never ran across any as crappy as this ( BEWARE ) |

Weakness:
see above Bought the Continental 8 months ago with 80k miles and never had so many problems with any other car I have ever owned. The dealer told us before we left the lot, you got a real cherry, I guess he mixed up the fruits and meant a lemon. The cd changer broke the first day, got fixed but i hear the engine acceleration in every speaker of the actually pretty good sound system ( the sound is great when the engine is off) nobody at Lincoln seems to know how to fix it, I gave up. After the first rain, the airbag warn light came on, went back to the dealer, they fixed it, at least till the next rain, same problem again. This time they had to replace all the electrical cables behind the dashboard due to a shortage "somewhere", this seems to be fixed now. We had 2 weeks fun with the car. Then the compressor for the air suspension started to make noises, needed to be replaced. Did I mention the catalytic converter went bad and the door panels are loose? Last week ( the first warm day this year) I found out that the air condition does'nt work anymore. I think I drove every Lincoln and Mercury model there is as a loaner car. This car has a great engine but everything around it seems to break down at least in my Continental. This was my first and last Lincoln,I can't wait to trade this "cherry" in, if I even get money for it since the depreciation is extreme. Some people actually leave honest positive reviews.
Weakness:
Some people think they can buy a 10 to 15 year old car with 150,000 miles on it and not have any problems. What is wrong with you?? I guess since my computer is 5 years old and I bought it used, I should just blame the company that made it, right? Get real, don't expect a diamond ring when you only pay $15 for it at Wal-Mart. (ie- buying a used car means taking a risk, duh) You morons that leave negative reviews really need to think about what you are saying. When you buy a 10 year old car with miles on it, you are buying something that someone else may have abused. With proper maintenance any vehicle will last 150,000 miles or more without problems. Think a little bit, darn it. Similar Products Used: Tons of Ford products A few Chrysler products Very few GM products With proper maintenance they all went 150,000 miles with little or no problems. |

Strength:
engine, sound system, front and rear profile, analog clock.
Weakness:
side profile. human factors design (weird design philosophies: turn signals too loud, wrong plastic for the console), front wheel drive, buttons everywhere, seats. Wonderful value as a used car. $14,000 buys you an 8 cylinder, near luxury car, with a driving experience that is tough to comprehend at that price. These cars are nearly always driven by salesman or old people. Get one that has been taken care of and you can't go wrong. Get the JBL sound system. Similar Products Used: Lexus SC430 |

Weakness:
Boucing about during it-town driving. Don't much care for it in town because it rides like a cattle car. In addition, its rate of depreciation was and is appalling. That said, no one can deny that it's not one hell of a freeway cruiser. I've had this car for eight model years. It has 46,000 miles on the odometer, and I recently got 26.2 mpg on a 440-mile run from northeast Alabama, over the Tennessee mountains, and on to the Ohio River. It is quiet and comfortable with plenty of room, and it has a world-class interior. It also runs like the wind. I had to replace a power-steering pump, but otherwise have had no trouble whatever. Lots of reviewers have all but trashed this car, and I really don't know why. I'm happy to have it and intend to keep it. See above The digital dash has been driving me CRAZY from the day I bought it! It constantly dings. I very recently replaced the water pump and tires and the following week my transmission went out. do yourself a favor and stay away from the 1991 Continental. They are notorious for bad transmissions and are expensive to repair. its big. would be comfortable on a long road trip if it were dependable enough to take it on one.
Weakness:
struts, power motors, too many bells and whistles--not enough workmanship to prevent them from always sounding off. (Seems the more options available the more reasons you cant drive it) I am SO UNHAPPY with this car! If I could hear the radio over all the bells and alarms that are always going off, I MIGHT have something to say positive about radio reception? I feel like driving it to the store and back is NOT a given that I will make it there and then still make it back? EVERYTHING is broken and EVERYTHING is expensive to remedy! It is currently being held hostage at my mechanics for its *surprise!* strut problems. Also, the check engine light & alarm (which dings at blaring levels) is coming on & diagnostic equipment says it should not be. Lets hope it is related to why the air control alarm is also blaring? The powered motors for the windows and seats are broken... since this is a recurring problem--why not have MANUEL ONES as WELL for those of us whom would like to USE the windows but fear it will break when down. (I can only assume the motors that operate currently are damn near breaking) What a piece of junk! If there were a cliff that I could actually drive to, I'd push it over it! (But, I am in fla--no cliffs...oh! and I drive a lincoln: cant drive there to get to one, either) Similar Products Used: I have nothing else to compare this to! But if there was a race between my lincoln and my sons big wheel? The whole pot is on the big wheel. |

interior room, strong engine, fair gas mileage for a large car, comfort, great climate control system
Weakness:
some road noise, does not hold it's value This car is a real value if you are in the market for a used car. It is roomy, comfortable, easy to drive, good looking, and reliable. The price that you pay for a used one is a real bargin. I have no idea why these fine cars do not hold their value when purchased new, but after someone else has absorbed the horendous depreciation of the first two years you can snap up a car that you will enjoy driving. |

Strength:
musle-car performance,excellent fit and finish,premium materials,excellent used car value.
Weakness:
Requires premium fuel, cruises effortlesly, speeding tickets are a definite possibility. We started looking at Caddys, and did not like the workmanship, and cheap materials used on this top-line GM auto.Lincoln certainly does put alot into the continental, all the materials are top notch, she drives quite nice, and the ride is excellent.Fuel consumption is good considering the powerfull v8 under hood, great sounds and east to look at. A little understated in styling, but this car makes you love it from the inside out. Similar Products Used: owned a STS for 2 yrs, it does not compare to this car |
