Infiniti Q45 Luxury

Strength:
Power. Handling. Design.
Weakness:
Expensive maint. When you close the door(s) it sounds cheap, compared with other brands. Not easy to park sometimes due to the size. Fine car but the resale value makes it not work owning. I've driven the car nearly 130,000 miles without any problems. Have always used infinit dealer for scheduled repairs/maint. Don't wreck the car unless you have excellent insurance. My insurance had to come up with 20,000 to repair the car. Luckily, they didn't give me any problems. Similar Products Used: Honda, Nissan, Toyota. This car is clearly a step above (when new), but more expense to own. |

Strength:
(1) Different look - everyone here has a Lexus :)
Weakness:
(1) Could use more low speed "oomph" Overall a very nice car, with relative exclusiveness in my area, where Lexus' & BMW's abound. I have had trouble getting the seat memory to work, but I think that is more me than the car. The stereo & acceleration remind me that this car is probably designed for the over 50 crowd (I am 37), but hey, you can't please everyone. Has been excellent on long trips (I travel a lot), with one minor complaint... Similar Products Used: MB S500, test drove the LS400 & GS 300 |

I fell in love with this car when I first saw it. It is very quick and the look is very sleek. I prefer the look of the 1994 Q45 to the present model. I have had no exterior problems with this vehicle. The paint job still looks great for a 7 year old car.
Weakness:
1. I have had five fuel injectors replaced so I cringe every time that the "check engine" light comes on. Even with a warranty from the dealer I bought it from, it is still very expensive since I have to pay a deposit every time it goes into the shop. I would never recommend an Infiniti to anyone. For as much as we have had to put into this vehicle, we could have purchased this car twice over and it should run "to infinity and beyond", but not into your pocketbook. I will not make the same mistake twice. Similar Products Used: The 1992 Ford Thunderbird didn't have half as many problems as we have had to put up with the Q45. |

Strength:
Power in spades. Solid, good quality construction. Comfortable, but surprisingly hard seats. I prefer its sleeker looks to the current Infiniti Q45.
Weakness:
Great highway tourer, which I do a lot of, but wobbled excessively in a high speed evasive manoevre. BMW is like a train securely held on rails under all circumstances except wet conditions. I understand the Qt version would handle a lot better under similar conditions. Very reliable comfortable car.Definitely a steal in comparison with a Lexus 400L of the same vintage. Lexus is overpriced and Q45 is undervalued. As an unsentimental value-seeking guy looking for a big, competent, comfortable and safe people hauler, I could not have had a better car for the price. I have done a few housekeeping things on the car such as brake change and am quite happy about the cost compared to the BMW. If fuel economy is at the top of your priority list, steer clear of this monster. At this point in my life, I like to plunk down a wad of cash for a car, and stay away from car notes. It has worked well. By the way, the odds are rather low that you can get the Q for the price that I did. I believe its blue book value for the 1994 edition is in the neighbourhood of 15k. Similar Products Used: BMW 535. The BMW handles much better. Also and extremely fast car. Otherwise, different cars, different characters. Infiniti's trunk is much smaller. Several years ago, I drove the Q with the belt buckle for a week. The newer Qs look a lot better. |

Strength:
Great power, traction control, goes well in the winter with Artic Alpins, roomy and very stable at highway speeds.
Weakness:
Transmission failed at 124,000KM. Dealer said it was common with 91-93 models!!!!! Cost $3,400 to repair. The dealer's service manager also mentioned that the injectors will go soon, the fuel pump and the brakes. For speed, comfort and stability it's great. Be prepared to spend massive amounts of money on major component failures that really weren't a problem with any other vehicle I've owned. This applies to 1991-1993 models (according to the Infiniti Service Manager). Similar Products Used: 1991 Lexus LS 400. Nice but not as quick as the Q45. More relaiable though. |

Strength:
There is no other car this size that has this kind of power and handling except a BMW 745, (which they copied). Very quiet interior. Comfortable, roomy and a large trunk. Great reliability on the major components. Nice styling that sets it apart from all the bland look a like Lexus'.
Weakness:
A 50k car that has no cup holders! Brakes (must replace often and they are expensive). Tires (see brakes). Dealers (expensive and poor service). The only real problems I've had with this car have been related to the dealer. I now go to private mechanics. Similar Products Used: It's unique combination of power and handling sets it apart from most competitors. The closest thing I found was a Lexus SC400 and it was'nt that close. |

Strength:
engine, looks, the fact that it is a nissan(DATSUN)very well engineered and has character, no blandnes.
Weakness:
poor gas mileage but it worth the ride. The Q45 t is the way an automobile should be made. different, nissan has always had the most aggresive and smoothest engines. driven many automobiles in my life, the infiniti is among the best, drive them all then drive the Q45 t and you will understand Similar Products Used: lexus gs 300 very underpowered (like a cow) no reliability as people claim. put a nissan(infiniti) and a toyota(lexus) and you will see who dies first the highly overated and overpriced lexus(boring wanabee. |

Strength:
Power, good body integrity.
Weakness:
Starts falling apart after 100,000 miles. Poor dealer service. Nissan makes decent cars, but they are less reliable than Honda, if you think buying an Infiniti (luxury) will give better reliability, think again, they use Nissan parts and they fall apart just the same. I had replaced the whole braking system including the ABS, and its very expensive. The Bose sterio system wasn't any good either. Not recommended. Similar Products Used: None |

Q45 T
Strength:
It looks nice, rides smoothly, and you get a free loaner car when you drop it off for service.
Weakness:
Dog slow acceleration at legal speeds, pitiful handling compared to BMW and Lexus GS series, it is made by Nissan. Why would you get this car when you could get a Lexus GS400 for less money? Or perhaps an Audi A6 2.7t manual. This is an overpriced, overrated car that is playing way out of its league in terms of price. I would rather drive the I30 than the ridiculus q45. Strength:
Plenty of interior room, I am 6'4" and had myself and 3 adults and 2 (small) children seated comfortable. Engine Pickup is amazing, wonderful styling, and a remarkable sound system.
Weakness:
Eats mad gas, and you can't feed this monster anything but top octane gas, so be prepared to shell out a decent amount on gas every week. I got my 1997 Q45 for an amazing price thanks to my uncle raving about his. I knew the ride was silky, but had no idea that this car that drowns you in comfort would ever have the power it has. When you step on the gas, hold on, cause by the time your eyes look down to check the speed, you are FLYING. Similar Products Used: Grabs more complements and smiles per mile than a lexus. |
