Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

Strength:

18 inch tires, dual exhaust, xenon headlamps, sport suspension, handles like a car half its size, 255 hp, only cost me $31k

Weakness:

Had gasket replaced in air intake manifold after 7k miles

A roomy car that will comfortably push 150mph. Handles like a car half its size. Xenon headlamps and side mirror mounted turn signals add to the car's distinctive image. The best part is driving it thru the Lowry Hill tunnel in downtown Minneapolis with the moon roof open and the accelerator fully depressed. Hearing the sound of the dual exhaust reverberating in the tunnel with an open moonroof is sweet music to my ears.

Strength:

Good build quality, great analog instrumentation, sweet engine, great rear legroom, voluminous trunk, nice lines, killer headlamps. This car sits LOW to the ground. It took a few days for me to get used to being so low, partly because my previous ride was a Yukon, but I know Chryslers pretty well. I've been in and out of them for 15 years. The ground effects on this car, plus the 1/2" lower ride for the Special version ... well, the top of the roof is barely at my belt buckle. I've been sneaking up on the speed bumps because it looks as though there is not a lot of clearance down there. So far, so good though. I think the first 15" New England dump of snow is going to garage this vehicle until the snow plow is out. That's not a weakness ... it's just not an SUV (PhD. in "duh").

Weakness:

I've only had the car a week, but having owned a Concorde LXi for four years, I feel very much at home in the cockpit. The climate controls and music center are right where I'd expect to find them. I don't drive with a lot of accessories like laptops, PDA's, file folders, etc. I just have a wallet and a cell phone. The wallet fits well in the door pocket, but the cell phone is still looking for a home. The cup holders are overkill for that, the "non-smoking" package I specified leaves a preciously-small insert where the ashtray would be (can't even get the fingers in there for change; you need to pull it out to dump your dimes). Strangely enough, the cell phone fits very well into the hand-grab for opening and closing the door, and while convenient, it begs the question why I couldn't put it somewhere specifically design for the driver's detritus ... This is a small shortcoming because the car is absolutely wonderful. It corners effortlessly, and the transmission always seems to be in the perfect gear; occasionally I've dropped it into the autostick mode, and it's in the gear that I wanted to select anyway. So ... it's breaking me of that inclination. Great car. This may b

A very solid road machine with excellent torque for most driving conditions. It is a comfortable cabin for both driver and passengers and begs you to scream into corners ...

Strength:

Good pick up. Comes standard with everything, excellent sound system.

Weakness:

Rear windows do not roll all the way down- only halfway. Initial problems with electrical system were never corrected by the dealer. Power lock on driver door fails. Handles on interior door are plastic covered with an aluminimum cover that peals off. Problems with over flow of cooling system. Problem with gasket seal at 41K miles.

Car looks great, comparable with the Lincoln LS. We like the rear seating space and head room and the roomy truck. Rear seats also fold down.

Strength:

Power for days, Comforts found in cars costing thousands more. Body Style. Large comfort.

Weakness:

Speakers are not adequate for pushing the stereo unit to max volume. Seat Heat indicators need to be more visable

Like Mike Tyson in a tuxedo, This 3500 pound luxury Sedan has a punch that even the new owner will fear for a few days. Unsuspecting right lane wanna be's won't know it's leathal until their doors fall on the pavement, and the roar of dual tailpipes leaves him deaf and wondering what happen. Unlike the fairy tale, this beauty is the beast. For the first time in many years, I am in love. My 1999 300m was infatuation, but this is true love. The sound, the power, the design have all come together in a package that will have everyone wanting to get "one of those" This vehicle is a Christmas load of goodies, like the tire pressure indicator which lets you know instantly what the Unidirectional 18" ZR rate Mich's have in them, and the Classy european turn signal indicators in the side view mirrors. This machine is just as comfortable on a hard road run as it is stopping at a high class resturant. The only problem is you don't want to trust the valets. If you have ever owned a 300M the Special Edition teaches the difference between Damn and Hot Damn

Handling - the 18 Pilot Sports are amazing Looks, well laid out interior/instrument panel

Weakness:

Very bad Stereo system, the first M rocked, The upgraded amp in the special is not so special - the bass really bites

This is my second M. My first was a 2000. After seeing the 300m special I had to have it. Amazing car!! Lots of acceleration, but the Acura 3.2s is faster. The Acura I did not buy because it is boring looking. The 300m has style.

LOOKS! that grabed me first. Interior size and comfort(better than the others)Interior layout and gages. Power (zoom-zoom) and handling. Great stero system. Fun, Fun, Fun

Weakness:

I spent time at this site and looked for the weaknesses listed here. Most of the problems listed were with the 99. made sure I got Michelins (they are not original), but I agree with those that complain about the road noise. Most of it seems to come from the tires. The car itself seems very tight. I will try some other tires when the time comes. The great sound system cancels the noise problem.

The most fun since my 65 Mustang! Bought it off a corporate lease with 33,000 miles on it. Test drove it for a couple of days and drove new ones as a comparison. It is like new. I have put 4,000 miles on it in 3 weeks. WOW, what a test drive. Went to NYC, Buffalo and South Carolina. Drove in all traffic and road conditions and the car never was less than perfect. After a nine hour drive I wasn't tired or sore (big change from my previous ride)Extras include the performance handling package, 4 disc in dash CD changer and power roof. Compared many cars before buying this one; so far I'm all smiles.

Strength:

Good acceleration, good brakes.

Weakness:

Everything but the brakes.

What a horrible car! Loved it for the first 30,000 miles. Then?..Let me count the problems. Transmission sensors went out twice, fixed. Right rear window won't work, Chrysler refuses to fix. Water bottle for windsheild wipers leaks, Chrysler refuses to fix. Bad switch on dimmer, interior lights were going on and off while driving, fixed. Bad shake in the steering at about 40 miles per hour, been to Discount Tire 8 times and they can't fix. (Chrysler not wiling to even look at the problem.) Rubber gaskets around rear doors keep falling off. Speakers in front, both right and left, have a severe rattle even at very low volume. Have attempted to get something done about all of these problems but...the Service Department at Jimmy Copeland Chrysler in Tomball is, shall we say, less than helpful...The third party extended warranty is virtually useless...and the 1-800 number for Chrysler is apparently either disconnected or so flooded with complaints that you can't get through. It's safe to say I'm on my first and last Chrysler product.

Strength:

Ultra smooth power on acceleration, it goes like a B.O.H. Comfortable seats and crisp handling. Extreme road feel if you like that. If not, don't buy a sports car because this car is in the wrong class.

Weakness:

Paint scrathes just a little too easily. Cup holders are too close to the shifter. Electric seats will burn your ass off if you don't shut them off, not regulated right.

This is the best car my wife and I have ever owned, PERIOD. We have not had a hitch in 3 years. I still have to turn and have another look when I walk away from it. The titanium colour with chrome rims is sooo sharp. The best buy for a premium car. Our lease is up and we ordered another one in BLACK!!

the 300m isnt all that glamerous as much might thing, this car is just like eveeryother, but for its class it is fast and nice looking, the price to pay for it is not worth it. if they were to make a car like that with such high horse power, then they should have made the body of it look more sporty.
