Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

Strength:

price for what you get compared to upper scaled models like bmw 500 series and LS. roomy especially in rear. trunk space adequate. no complaints from passengers.

Weakness:

chrysler needs to add more umph - burlwood for the trim. more comfy seats. better carpet. fittings could have been a bet more refined. no air deflector for the sunroof. gas mileage disappointing. hate front wheel drive. paint job average at best. i have been more impressed with the avalon to tell you the truth. chrysler needs to learn from its competitors.

loaded for a car in the price range. handles well. plenty of get up and go. love the autostick. head turnig quotient is greater than average. i got the spoiler, molded mud flaps, bra. sharp!! 35,000 miles and so far just routine maintenance. roomy more so than the lincoln ls. 4 in dash cd beats a changer in the trunk. all in all satisfied, but it doesnt meausure up to the lincoln lsc i had before the 300m. 0% financing was the kicker for me though when i was shopping for a new car. the 2004 300m with the 300+ horsepower looks a bit interesting with the V-8 and rear wheel drive. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Strength:

Stylish, smooth acceleration, handling, reliability, turns heads

Weakness:

I wish the in-dash CD player held more than 4 CDs.

This is the BEST car I have EVER owned. It is fast, comfortable, quiet, great looking and RELIABLE. I have owned a Honda (never again - it was a piece of $#@! and service was lacking), 2 Fords, a Mitsubishi, a Pontiac and 2 other Chryslers. This is the best I've ever had - now have 40k+ miles. No problems, no worries, no regrets. I recommend this car heartily.

It is a nice looking car, handles nice, sound system WAS nice....but looks are oh so decieving!

Weakness:

Have had all the window motors replaced (driver's side 3X!), molding around the driver's door, dashboard replaced, transmission work done twice (replacing the same part)!! a/c motor replaced, rotors are horrendous on mine as well, wiper fluid motor replaced (was not covered on that fabulous "extended warranty"...cost us 300 bucks!!!. ever since having the dashboard replaced the interior lights and headlights blink like there's a disco going on in the car...have taken it in numerous times and they can't find the problem..imagine that?? all this work was done with a *smile*...what an f'n joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I vow to never, ever purchase a Chrysler vehicle again for the rest of my life!!!!!! It is ridiculous to spend more time in the shop than on the road with this car!! After reading the reviews i am amazed that so many of us have had the same problems with this car!!?? This is the first "luxury" car i have owned...and i am so disappointed it is unbelievable! Back to Honda for me...if i can get out from under this one. The service is horrendous!!! "5 Star Service"???? I don't even think i can write what i think about that on here! Stear clear of this one..or you'll be sorry.

Strength:

Highway comfort on short trips.

Weakness:

Rough shifting. Transmission seals replaced twice under warranty after a litany of complaints, but it did not fix the problem. I was told that I couldn't expect the tcar to shift like a Lincoln, to which I responded that I would be happy if it would shift like my wife's 1995 Ford Contour. Blower motor quit on a frigid winter day. Accelerator control module failed. Plastic cap in center of alloy wheel fell off. Dealer replace all four of them as rust was showing around them. Vinyl trim around inside of door openings shrank and pulled away at corners. As explained to me by the dealer, this was my fault for not leaving the windows down a bit in extremely hot weather. Two different power windows failed. Remote door lock motor failed.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Strength:

Design, IMO, this is one the best looking cars on the street in any price range. The interior, handling, ride and sound system are all excellent. This car can hook the most discriminating buyer.

Weakness:

We bought this car about 2 years ago with 16,000 miles on it. We now have 48,000 and it has cost me more in repairs than our 92 Maxima and 92 Suburban combined. Both these vehicles have over 140,000 miles on them. Emission problems twice(not covered by "the all inclusive extended warranty") brakes, a/c, both rear window regulators, a/c again, wiper motor, not to mention 3rd set of tires. It is now starting to make a sound which sounds like the CV joints are going out. The dealer has done little to help my agggrevation by always adding misc charges etc. It cost me $67 to get a pound of freon added. I like to buy cars and keep them. Maybe I'm spoiled by the low maintenance of our Maxima and Suburban. I would unload this, but unfortunately the resale value drops like a rock. DO NOT buy this car unless you can afford terms less than 36 months. You will go upside down regardless if any longer. IMO, its a poorly built car hidden by a gorgeous design.

Looks can Kill should be the theme for this car! Chrysler got a 1st time buyer with the designof this car, they got a last time buyer with the quality and service.

Model Reviewed: Chrysler 300M Special

Strength:

Wonderful ride and handling, and very comfortable seating and controls. Pleasure to drive on long trips.

Weakness:

Nothing but trouble from day one. First was a bad thermostat which caused overheating, then failure of the tire pressure sensors, then the radio would not shut off. All fixed but took time. Then the worst features are the transmission which shifts very erratic and late on upshifting. It feels like it will never get out of 2nd gear, even on gentle accel. The resulting gas mileage is so poor it's a joke. Hiway only is 22, and city is 11-13, much below the window sticker of 18-26. Chrysler says this is normal for this vehicle and won't make any attempt to correct problems.

A gorgeous design and great handling at a reasonable price. I have owned 6 Chrysler products since 1967, and this one replaced a 1988 New Yorker with 150K miles. Unfortunately, I wish I could go back.

Strength:

great engine, handling, interior

Weakness:

road noise, paint chips, tires awful, blind spots at rear of car are DANGEROUS, window too high in back seat for kids to see out, which causes motion sickness with some kids

ilove the way it handles, but have had problems with the goodyear eagle tires. had to replace them at 20,000 miles. Rear tires replaced again at 27,000 miles. drives okay for about 1000 miles, then steering vibration starts up and have to have wheels balanced, over and over. also had to have back wheel bearings replaced. Many rim leaks, have to monitor tire pressure constantly.

Strength:

The looks, memory seats, radio controls on the steering wheel, the fold down rear seats create extra room, and the power make this one impressive vehicle.

Weakness:

The poor gas mileage compared to the Buick, the costly 17 inch tires which have no mileage guarantee and are difficult to find, and the road noise are disappointing in this quality of vehicle. Side air bags should be standard on this vehicle. The lumbar support is only on the driver side and is very basic.

I purchased my 300 M sedan used with 21,000 miles on the odometer. I have had six Buick Le Sabres before this vehicle and there is no comparison. The 300 M is a more exciting vehicle and has more standard features.
