Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

I bought the 300M brand new off the lot, have not had any problems except for minor things, such as replacing thermostat, air filter, etc. I noticed the left rear window sill seemed to be loose though. Excellent power, and not much road noise. I replaced the stereo system with aftermarket, as most cars have junk for audio systems anyway. I have 67,000 miles on mine now and love it.

I BOUGHT MY CAR WITH 52,000 MILES AND BELIVEME THE CAR IS JUST LIKE NEW RUNS GREAT AND THE AUTOSTICK IS THE BEST TECHNOLOGY IN CHRYSLER. I UNDERSTAND SOME PEOPLE HERE HAVE SOME BAD EXPERIENCE WITH 300M, THIS IS BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO BUY OR WHERE TO BUY. FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY ANY CAR YOU MUST CHECK THE HISTORY OF THIS CAR IN CARFAX AND ALSO YOU HAVE TO CHECK THE HISTORY OF THE DEALER WHERE YOU PLAN TO BUY YOU'R USED CAR.BECAUSE THERE IS A LEMON IN EVERY BRAND NAME CAR. TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO CHECK THE REVIEWS OF OTHER CARS HERE IN CARREVIEW AND YOU WILL SEE HOW THE PEOPLE TALK BAD ABOUT ANY CAR IN AMERICA.

LOOKS LOOKS LOOKS Car looks like a million bucks. Payed less than an intrepid ,LHS and concorde. Charcoal color is beautiful with the chrome accents.

Weakness:

Road Noise- will get new tires when needed, but for now use a few cans of undercoating in the wheelwells.(Often used on boats as a rust inhibitor.

Just bought this almost two year old leftover with 35 miles and cannot figure out why it is left over. This car has everything and is decked out with every option plus two tone leather seats.

Looks, power, handling (performance pkg), interior room and comfort. Even the clock is still accurate! Avg 26 mpg + on the highway, and I'm pushing it hard. No non-scheduled maintenance work-ever! Buy a 2003 or 04-the best of the best.

Weakness:

Paint chips easily/road noise (better with different tires)small items like instrument back lights going out and leather showing severe wear on the driver's seat.

Purchased with 30,000 miles 1 yr. ago. Now I'm at 84,000 miles and I'm still smiling. 99 was a bad first year and 2000 was borderline. I'm lucky. not even one major breakdown or part has gone bad. Some small things, sure, but this car looks great, runs very strong and handles like a dream.

AWESOME! The 300M should go down in history as a benchmark of what America and Chrysler can do. Awesome looks, power, handling, comfort, interior room, trunk, brakes, tranny, sound system! Easily achieves 26 MPG. How'd they do that!? It's one of the best-kept secrets on the road!

Weakness:

Road noise is a bit higher than I would have liked. Had the A/C compressor replaced under warrenty. Dual climate control would have been nice. Not thrilled with the cup holder arrangement, especially when using the AutoStick. Occasional low-speed brake "grunting".

We purchased our pre-owned 2000 just over a year ago. Ironically, it replaced our 300ZX (Kids!). I still kept image/individuality, got a bigger car...and more power! Wife loves it, too.

Strength:

This is a very comfortable, excellent handling, fast large car. It is good looking and has a very good fit and feel for an American car in this price range.

Weakness:

Chrome handle on drivers side peels on many of the early 300m's. The interior door seals will shrink if left in the heat with the windows closed, but mine stretched back into place.

I rented a 300m for a week about a year before purchasing this one, and didn't want to return it! The one I purchased is a lease return in like new condition. The car reminds me of the best qualities of some of my late 60s and early 70s cars, but with all of the best modern features. By this, I mean it is a tremendous big highway cruiser with the feeling of stability and power that most cars today lack. On top of this it is luxurious, handles mountain roads like a sports car and gets the gas mileage of an economy car! (27 mpg highway). What more could you ask from a car? The vehicle is silver with black interior and a moon roof. Everything works perfectly with 60K miles. The negative reviews on this board don't do the car justice. I have driven over a million miles in various vehicles and this is one of the best overall vehicles I have experienced. Understanding the unique maintenance requirements of a vehicle can make ownership much more rewarding. For people with rotor problems, upgrade them! This 300m has the performance package, so I doubt they will warp, but if they do, buy better after market rotors! This is a common problem for a number of cars and trucks. The transmission has two sensors that will need occassional replacement and the transmission fluid must be changed (complete flush) with Chrysler Mopar ATX +4 fluid only. The use of any other fluid will cause serious problems. The vehicle also has a differential that requires fluid changes.
