Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

Strength:

Great road car especially with the PHP/PHG package. I had one of the first so equipped and have been pleased so far.

Weakness:

Road noise! Defective window motors replaced under Warranty.

Got excellent price from local dealer $27,500.

Highly recommend car.

Can't wait for 300n with rear wheel drive and Hemi V-8!

Most fun car since my 68 Hemi Road Runner.

Fast, fun and comfortable

Weakness:

Road noise could be reduced

Hands down, this car rocks. After owning a BMW M3 sedan trading it in for a better vehicle at $15k less is just icing on this very sweet cake. If you're in the market for a better sport sedan then look no further than your DC dealer. I recommend it daily.

BMW M3 Sedan (puke!). When you pay $45k you would think a $30k american car would be a step down. Not hardly. BMWs are for those who think they have a nice car but have never owned a nice car. The 300M just out classes and muscles BMW's "M" series.

Strength:

This car is not only luxurious, but can hold it's own with nearly every car in it's class, performance wise. The 253hp V6 is more than impressive for a car this size (3500 lbs). Straight line acceleration sets you back in your seat, and it is a chore to keep from burning off the front tires if in auto stick. The stereo is very adequate for a factory unit. The transmission shifts seamlessly, and there is no substitute for the full size spare tire. Very good handling and traction in the snow. The trunk is massive in size. The interior room in also very adequate.

Weakness:

Lack of visibility!!! The doors do not sound solid when being closed, especially if the windows are down. The inability to fix ANYTHING under the hood without seeing your dealer.

The price we paid was very fair. ($24,988.00) The car was a demo. Had 7800 miles on it. We have put 5000 miles on it, and would recommend the car in an instant. This car is truly a blast to drive.

Strength:

Size--loads of room, big trunk, handling--handles curves perfectly, lots of power for passing and merging, very comfortable seats, loads of power accessories, top-notch styling

Weakness:

too much road noise especially over less than perfect roads,

I would highly recommend the M as long as you dont mind the road noise. You cant beat the value here. I paid 28,600 with chrome wheels, 4-disc cd, and sunroof.. The best part was the .9% financing in full for 5 years. What a deal!

Lincoln Mark VIII--owned for 5 years--Lincoln has a quieter ride, but handling is better in the M, also mileage is much better in M as well as styling--the M is also more comfortable and roomy and is a much better value

This is a great car and would reccomend it to anyone who wants a great car with great features with an excellent driving experience.
Several people that own 300M's that see the car in my driveway actually come over and talk to me about how much they love this car and I agree very much. This is a good American automoblie made in America

Strength:

handles great,great motor,sound system

Weakness:

AC system is marginal ofr a car of this stature

I wish I could give this car a great review- as it handles superb.
I am even willing to overlook the poor AC performance compared to my wife's Camry- maybe due to the leather seats and hot Texas summers.
However- with just under 10,000 miles- my car is now in the shop for the third time ( a total of 14 days in). Every time it rains my drivers side floor fills with water. They just told me that there is a manufacture's
defect ( at least they have finally identified the problem) and that the
sealing put on the car was done improperly.
The guys at the dealership have been great about working with me- but I really must question the quality control at Chrsyler- Especially since this is supposed to be their top of the line quality car.

Strength:

Fast, comfortable, phenominal handling with the performance handling group, interior, gigantic trunk

Weakness:

major road noise, especially on concrete road surfaces. rear doors are huge, CD player sucks

Love this car for the value. It is not a mercedes, but has enough parity for me to like being in it every day. It has almost no quirks, other than the CD player that works 70% of the time (which always works at the dealer and they therefore refuse to replace it)

Almost puked at the mercedes/bmw/audi stickers and japanese cars are too bland and boring.
The thing is really fast, and the handling group was well worth it, except that it strongly disagrees with NJ concrete roads, as the road noise is mind numbing. But I got the loud stereo option which counteracts it.

The climate control is actually really good, and the seats are comfortable.

If money were no object, I would have to think about not buying one, but would probably buy mercedes again. In the context of reality though, it is a 5 all around for being as well thought out as it is, and for the agressive pricing. If Chrysler has massive success with this car, and in this market space, they will be able to justify higher prices, so they can bump up against the bottom of the mercedes product space.

If however, they do come out with the rumored 300HP model, I will absolutely buy another one when my lease runs out in 2 more years.

Strength:

Great apperiance. Powerfull engine. All necessary options. Very good financing, 0.9% for 5 years.

Weakness:

Too noisy, no undercoating, this is an option for which you have to pay $200. Fixed side mirorrs, easy to break in case you hit them. Poor side and rear visibility, very small mirrors and rear window columns are too wide, this creates dangerous blind spots. Nice big wheels, 17", but low profile tires are not for NY/NJ roads, maybe for German Autobahn. Goodrich tires are not for a sport sedan, they are too slippy when compared to Michelin. Too much free play in differential. Automatic downshift has hard kicks when you step on the gas driving 10 to 20 mph. Can't manualy override selected gear without moving gear stick to dedicated position - Lexus has swiches on the stearing wheel. Autostick should be available in "D" position. No option without leather seats, I hate them. Too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer. Paint very thin and sensitive to the bird by-products. Brakes weaker when it rains. Car pulls to the left from day one and service was not able to fix it yet after 9 months!. Rear doors are to long from door handle to the rear edge, no side window. The door keeps hitting me when I open them. No air filter on the climate intake, gets all fumes from the car in front of me when it's on Automatic climate control.

Pitty, but still needs some "polishing". Crysler won't be my next choice. After having an Audi 100 Turbo, the Chrysler 300M is a poor experience.

More agressive looking then a Lexus 300, Nicer rear end then Nissan Maxima - they screw with the new rear end design, Cheaper then Acura and Audi A6.

Great styling, roomy interior, 27 mpg on the hiway, super sound system, great handling, comfortable seating, full of standard items..

Weakness:

A little too much road noise, small trunk opening relative to the enormous size of the trunk

With chrome wheels, Infinity stereo and moon roof, the car cost $31,350....as a left over 1999, I saved over $5000.

I would (and have) recommended this car. I would buy another in a heartbeat...

Strength:

Power, handling, style, comfort, space. This is a roomy sedan which approaches the fun level of a sports car and the comfort level of a luxury car. I routinely get stopped by total strangers and complimented on the car's looks.

Weakness:

The car transmits more road noise than I would like on rough concrete surfaces.

I've driven my 300M for 11 months and 15,000 miles now. I've never been back to the dealership. I still look for excuses to drive it. It excels at high speed cruising and is no slouch in the twisties. In retrospect I wish I had bought the Performance Handling Group but I wanted the chrome wheels more badly at the time. Chrome wheels became available with the PHG on the 2000 models. I have many links to 300M resources on my "I love my car" web site at http://www.seanet.com/~tthomas/my300m.

Overall, this car is a better value and much more fun to drive than the Cadillac or Audi I recently drove for 7 and 5 years respectively.
