Chrysler 300M Luxury

Chrysler 300M Luxury

DESCRIPTION

Chrysler launched the completely new, sport-oriented 300M in 1999. The 300M used the same front-drive chassis as the Concorde/Intrepid, but had distinct styling and a shorter body. Power was supplied by a 3.5L 253-horsepower V6 engine and 4-speed automatic transmission, though the 300M was fitted with Chrysler's AutoStick automatic, which permits manually-selected gear changes using a separate shift gate. The 300M distinguished itself with 17-inch wheels and a sport-tuned suspension and steering settings. The Performance Handling option gave the 300M more aggressive 16-inch rubber. The 300M is a 5-passenger sedan with leather upholstery and heated front seats standard.

Strength:

Acceleration, handling, beautiful exterior/interior

Weakness:

I wish the "cruise control" buttons lit up on the steering wheel.

I inherited this car (lucky me) with only 37 miles on the odometer. Was going to sell it as I had no need for another car. After driving it around for a couple of days, I couldn't stand to part with it.

This car is deceptively fast because it offers such a smooth driving experience. Chrysler, without question, is the styling leader for the cars that they have released over the last few years. The 300M is no exception. This car has been on the market for a couple of years so there is more than a few of them on the road. I still get comments about how good looking this car is when I stop for gas or in the grocery paring lot.

The interior is drop dead gorgeous with high quality materials used throughout. It is put together as well as anything I've ever driven.

The 300M handles great. It feels like it is a much smaller car than it really is (the interior is cavernous) and very tossable on twisty roads. On the open highway, it is fast and stable at any sane speed (and most insane speeds, too).

The ride is smooth but controlled. Steering is almost perfect with good feel of the road. Brakes are powerful.

I can stuff as many people and luggage in this car that I will ever have need to.

Everything you touch or operate feels high quality in the 300M. Infinity stereo is great. Whoever thought of putting the stereo controls on the "back" of the steering wheel (instead of cluttering up the front like most luxury cars) deserves a big raise.

To top it all off, this car has a MSRP of about $30K which is a screaming bargain. Throw in the ability to deal on these cars at your local dealership and the car becomes a steal.

It is easy to see why this car is on the "top 10" list of the major car magazines.

Strength:

looks great, power and comfort. Short option list, most items are standard. I am over 6 feet and this is one of the few cars I fit into without hitting head or legs. Comfort on long trips and still fun and tight though the twisting back roads.

Weakness:

No lights on cruise buttons, trans jerky at low speeds, rear windows don't lower enough, air conditioner works when it wants, goodyear tires, The dealership. normandins in san jose. bad service dept.

love this car, would recomend it. have had it a little over a year, has 28,600 miles. The wife and kids love it too.

Strength:

Killer good looks, flawless fit and finish, outstanding driver comfort, comes standard with just about everything you could want, great stereo system. Autostick transmission gives you just enough control over shift points if you want to "expand the envelope" a bit. Who said muscle cars were a dying breed? This car gives new meaning to driving fun. The only way it could be better is if they were giving them away.

Weakness:

Needs dual exhausts, would love to see a 5-speed tranny

People young and old stop me and ask me about this car. My response is always the same. "I love it!" I would recommend this car 100% with no reservations. It's more fun than anything I've driven in years. It handle, brakes and accelerates like a sports car, but gives you all the silky smoothness, cavernous space, and amenities of a family sedan. If you are a family man (or woman) who needs the space of a family sedan but still loves to drive a hot car, this is the vehicle for you.

I recently saw a segment on Speedvision TV about this car and its recent placement on Auto Week Magazine's 2000 "10 Best" list (number 2 behind only the Vette Z06). They made the comment that the 300M is blurring the line between family sedan and performance sedan.

I think that sums it all up. The best of both worlds. Test drive everything else first, because once you test drive one of these babies, you WILL want to take it home with you.

Daimler-Chrysler, I think you hit it out of the park with this one. Keep the goodies coming. We can handle it!!

Tried out the Lincoln LS, Bonneville SSEi, and Infiniti I30 and Q45. All nice cars and they all have their strong points, but the 300M is by far the most bang for the buck.

Strength:

I was blown away by the styling, and had to have it after the test drive. A rare combination of vehicle that can bring out the "boy racer" in you, yet roomy enough to carry 5 adults in supreme comfort, and enough trunk room to carry a family of 4 on a long road trip. The driving position is superb. I can sit upright with my head against the headrest and my eyes are focused directly on the road in front of me, rather than up at the headliner.

Weakness:

All very minor - the windows will not operate in the ACC position, the trunk release will not release with the vehicle in gear.

I paid a bit over $25,000. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a comfortable, sporty ride but needs 4 doors. Best buy in it's class.

Strength:

I like the power, roominess, comfort, indiglo illuminated dash, high quality, but most of all the drop dead gorgeous styling.

Weakness:

Everything is perfect.

Definitely recommend to anyone. Just buy it, you will be very happy as I am.

Strength:

Great looking, TONS of power, cavernous interior and trunk, wonderful fit and finish, smooth ride, yet handles corners effortlessly, Outstanding stereo. The list goes on and on!

Weakness:

Cruise control buttons aren't backlit.

I HIGHLY recommend this car! Test drive one and you will be hooked!! Test drive a 300M last, and take your checkbook because you will want to buy it on the spot! I rented one for 3 days and didn't want to give it back. It appeals to the performance driver, as well as anyone who wants luxury. It's one of the few cars ever produced that can rightfully claim the title "Sports-luxury sedan". I can't say enough good things about the 300M.

Strength:

Styling is "outta sight." Handling (even without the performance handling package is exceptional. High-end acceleration there when you need it. My wife likes the bun warmers (heated seats)in cold weather.

Weakness:

Road noise not acceptable. Auto-stick a waste of money; should be a 5-speed. Standard moon roof does not have an auto-close feature after turning off ignition.

Bought a base model since it was advertised at $525 under invoice (without the help of any rebates). The 0.9% financing was a no-brainer. Added an aftermarket moon-roof w/auto close feature. All-in-all, I love the car. Anyone considering an entry-level luxury sedan should consider the 300M. A lot of bang for the buck!

Model Reviewed: 300M

Strength:

This car is fast, comfortable and a dream to drive. It takes an off ramp at 65mph without any sensation of the turn and with very little movement in the drivers seat. I have had no major problems with this car and would recommend it to everyone. I would buy another in a second.

Weakness:

It's too much fun to drive. I averaged 12000 miles in all my other cars and in this 300 I have put 22000. I am constantly being stopped and told how great my car looks - it's a beauty!

If you are in the market for a performance vehicle at a very non-performance price I direct you to the 300M dealer near you. I have never owned a performance vehicle before and have been very, very pleased. I caution you to watch the power if you have never driven a power car like the 300M. This car should only offer the chrome wheels, as they really make set make the difference. Buy one and have a "little bit of heaven" !
