Strength:

This car runs very smoothly and hugs the corners. It has a very fast pickup and great for everything. The sound is great and easy to change by the dial on the wheel.

Weakness:

The horn on the wheel is hard to find, push and blow before the car that your honking at is gone

I would recommend this car because it is such a great car for all purposes. It is comfortable and has heating on every seat to make every person conforatable in the car. The music get's played very well in the car and is easy to get to from the wheel.
This car is also very safe, if i were to get into an accident, the airbags would come out not only in front of me, but on the back, so that i don't care paralized from whip lash and side airbags if i were to get hit on the side. Also, the safety belt is a great help and is made to lock you in very tight.
If you are looking for a sedan and want a safe, nice car, it is great to get this car.

Strength:

nice pick-up

Weakness:

this car has been nothing but problems since it was new. the am portion of the radio would not work five miles outside of town, the salesman said "most people use fm" after three trips in they finally fixed the distance factor but it still sounds as if a speaker has a hole in it (it seems that just my wife and i are the only ones who can here it} th4e automatic headlights after five or six trips in still do not work properly, the passenger seat heater has been repaired three or four times, it seems to be working now, the door moulding around the rear passenger door had to be reglued three times, the latest was the paint pealing off of the front bumper and if you can believe this their body man said it was caused from dead bugs, this car has 36000 miles on it, the dealership did repaint the bumper but who knows how long it will last, and since i don't i'm getting rid of it before anything else happens.

the thing that really upsets me it cadillacs corporate attitude or should i say lack thereof. i have called there customer service line three or four times and requested that a regional factory rep contact me which never happened and i finally said the h--- with it. i also requested that the dealer have someone contact me and was told by their sales mgr that ever since gm took cadillac under their coporate umbrella that their service has gotten real bad, does this tell you anything, at any rate this car will be gone shortly and someone else can fight the battle.

i would not recommend to any one, a product is only as good as the people selling it.

i have had two other sevilles and four lincolns of the three sevilles this is the only one that i have had problems with but with the lack of any concern from gm corporate there will be no more.

Strength:

Power, Acceleration, comfort are among the best. The traction control system works very well, a real plus for this area. Passengers are pampered and trunk is adequate with a low lift height. People who have never driven this car always emerge with a smile after their first encounter.

Weakness:

Some radio controls require distraction to reach the knobs, simple scan & volume should be on or close by the steering wheel. LED brake light failure is annoying. Use care when rotors need replacement, some aftermarket products don't measure up to the OEM products and warp easily.

I purchased mine used and for $19,000 I've had a great driver for over 80,000 miles. Only normal repairs have been required, the LED brake light, and transmission solenoids the only exceptions. I believe the traction control & antilock brakes have saved me from disaster on several occasions. There is a sinking feeling whenever I rent a different car, the Seville is my standard!

I shopped Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes. I prefer the Seville on features and am pleased to find great value to boot.

Strength:

engine acceleration, creature comforts. Gas mileage, over twenty and 300hp!

Weakness:

torque steer, weight

Bought used in 1998, $28k, 39k miles

preferred it to the 1995 BMW because interior was FAR superior. Engine response much better than all but possibly the BMW 540. This car has incredible acceleration even at 70 mph. Need to check your speed soon after stepping on it. Very quiet ride, stiff suspension handles curves well, watch the torque steer, once you are used to it, not a problem. What do you expect with front wheel drive.

Find this car used, off lease, under $30k, and you will not find a comparable new car for the same money. BMW 540, redisigned model 1996.5 or newer cant compete on price and I do not think you would be giving up too much with the STS. I love leaving those snot noses in the dust, they dont know what hit them seeing such a large car scoot.

Strength:

Power, technology, quality and comfort are first rate. Import owners must drool over features that the Cadillac has standard, while I show them my tailights.

Barring the new Deville DTS, this is the most technologically advanced car in the world. The inclusion of adaptive seating, the Northstar system (which no longer requires premium unleaded and still makes the same 300 horsepower - woohoo!!!! ***remember to include this item while calculating the costs of ownership***), and OnStar (along with the CD mapping feature), makes the Seville STS the technological benchmark for everybody else to shoot at.

The STS is exceptionally comfortable, but a little tighter and sportier than the DTS or the Seville SLS.

Weakness:

I'd like more power (specifically low end torque - but this car certainly doesn't suffer in that area either), and the availability of the night vision system.

I'd like more power mostly because I'm sick and you can never have enough power.

And I'd like night vision because I'm getting old.

This car has no peer.

Build quality is on par with any car, built anywhere, anytime.

Why pay more for less from Lexus, BMW or Mercedes?

Similar Products Used:

Take the 540iA compared to the Seville...
Can't tow with the BMW.
No Automatic Load levelling.
No rear seat fan controls.
Gotta pay extra for front seat lumbar adjusters.
Gotta pay extra for a CD player.
Smaller.
18 less horsepower.
4 MPG less on the highway.
$2000 more expensive.
Horrendous quality (compared to Cadillac and Buick by JD Powers).

The Lexus LS400 ends up being an even worse comparison.

Strength:

The most powerful, luxurious car in its class. No questions asked.

Weakness:

Needs 17" wheels instead of 16"s.

$54,000

Power- 300hp 32 valve 4.6L Northstar. The most technologically advanced engine available in the US.

Luxury- Everything you touch is either wood or leather. Heated front and rear seats. Seats are nuance leather. Settings for seats, headrest, temp, radio, steering wheel tilt and telescopic steering wheel feature are set by driver's individual coded key.

Styling-All new for 2000. Chrome 16"s optional on STS and SLS, though I do wish they would put at least 17"s on these cars. Sevilles are a little shorter this year, which improved the looks and helps with the sporty appeal of the Caddy.

Safety-Very safe. Some say the safest vehicle on the road. Dual front and side air bags.

Audio-Delco Bose killer sound system. 8 speaker system with 12" amplified subwoofer that will handle anything on any CD you play. This is not a car audio system, it is a concert hall. Tape, CD, and CD changer in console with controls for volume, track, fan, and temp on steering wheel.

Handling-Stabilitrak 2.0 The only way to describe Stabilitrak is to compare it to driving with hot sticky tires on a huge piece of fly paper. Amazing. Enough said.

This is the car for people who know about cars and can appreciate them as they should be. This car is the best in every department. If you enjoy cruising along quietly and comfortably, this car is for you. If you enjoy jamming to tunes while driving, this car is for you. If you enjoy leaving Mustang GT's in the dust with a four-door passsenger car while hearing a V-8 wind up to its shift point of 6,000, then this car is most definitely for you.
Would recommend it to anyone.

Strength:

Very quiet! My wife and I found the SLS much quieter than the STS (less wind noise and less road noise).

Weakness:

Poor build quality is the Achilles heal of the Cadillac. My car was not assembled well. I've been driving German and Japanese cars for the last 20 years, and the SLS does not compare in build quality with the foreign luxury cars.

We bought the SLS because it was very quiet, and that's what we were primarily looking for. We found nothing in the price range of the SLS that was anywhere near as quiet. The LS400 may be quieter, but it is also $15k more expensive. I just wish Cadillac would do something about their quality control at the factory and/or the dealerships.

Strength:

This car is a bargin compared to the imports in it's class. I paid 4k less than the window sticker of $46700. I went from a Lexus GS300 to a GS400 to a 996 Porsche to the SLS and I love it. The Bose' system is unreal.

Weakness:

The SLS sits up to high. There is way to much wheel well showing, it looks funky.

Drive all the cars in it's class and you'll decide for yourself.

Strength:

The northstar engine has power to spare. Gets to 70 mph in a heartbeat. The car has a smooth ride yet corners extemely well and the stabilitrack really works especially in the snow. Best factory stereo I've had in a car.
Seats are comfortable I love the heated seats. There is 70,000 miles on the car the to date I have replaced the brakes, tires and a tie rod.

Weakness:

Fit and finish could be better. The stock goodyear tires wore out in no time. The rear cup holder broke the 1st month looks kinda cheap to me.

Overall I have been very satisfied with this car. It has been very reliable fuel economy has been satisfactory and it is very comfortable to drive. Probably would not buy another until a model change but thats just me. Some improvemnets could be made in choice of materials and final fit of both interior and body parts.

Lincoln Mark VIII the caddy has a much richer interior. Fuel mileage is similar as is overall power. I think the Lincoln was a little quicker.
