All Qualities are excellent espescially the 32v northstar makes all 4500 lbs. move like my 88 5.0 gt mustang, except handles much better at all speeds and corners, smooth ride just dont fall asleep at the wheel. as you sink in your thick soft, leather. 20-25 miles in the city 30-32 on the highway bought it with 90000 miles have since taken it to galveston, miami, corpus christ, branson, dallas, tulsa, and all on different trips all originating from KCMO i now have 115000 and at least another 100000 b4 i even start worrying in the least.

Weakness:

no bad qualities at all. a little expensive on parts and maintenance but no more than my 99 zx2.

I enjoy long road trips with my friends and my caddy gets us where i wanna go, when i wanna go period, never an exception. I have a 100 lb puppy rottweiler that goes with me everywhere i go the back seat is hers but she walks around the whole car and never even touches as she walks by. ample room for whatever, dependible, comfortable, excellent gas mileage for the size hands down. starting and stopping power is available for whatever you want it to do and then some. ive owned multiple ford and gm products prior to this and you would'nt ever catch me near a dodge. but above and beyond all the many others ive owned this one takes the cake and i get to eat it too. I personally am 23 years old and enjoy my luxury very much even though occasionally you drop a few xtra bucks here and there for it. But it is a small price to pay considering what you get to look forward to every morning when you walk out the door on the way work. i think anybody of any age, sex, or race can appreciate the fine beauty of this automobile.

The only thing i can say is dont complain if its to big you should have figured that out when you test drove it, and dont complain about the price of parts or maintenance because its a cadillac and u knew it b4 you signed the papers. so if you hate em so much, why did you buy it in the first Place?

Caddy man till the day i die~!

Strength:

None to be found.

Weakness:

Too big, boxy and ugly, gas hog, bland interior, ho-hum performance, horribly expensive parts, just plain boring to drive.

If you ask me, don't buy this sucker. It's a pain in the butt to park, the parts are expensive, it's very sluggish conerning acceleration, and on top of everything, it gobbles gas. Maybe it's fine for some old geezer, but if you are looking for a great all around car, this is far from it. Look somewhere else...anywhere!

Comfortable - in this car you cannot but feel the luxury. Nice design Inside and Outside. No rust so far. Powerful Air conditioning, yet high maintainance cost. Strong car especially on the montain roads.

Weakness:

Towed two times in 8 years. Maintainance and parts of this car are expensive. Been in the shop more than my Toyota.

Strength:

The car has exceptional power and handles quite well for a car its size. Gas mileage is acceptable at 17/18 in town and nearly 24 when we took it on the highway (50 miles one way)

Weakness:

A lot of computer enhanced electronics. They make the car ride and drive nicer but I'll worry about their cost if and when they start going out.

So far I'm very happy with the automobile. My wife and I were looking at replacing our existing car but only wanted to spend around $6-7,000. Most of what we looked at worried me in their ability to last. With pre-96 Fords you can become members of the 'Transmission of the Month' club rather easily. We currently own a Chevrolet and although the drive train is bullet proof the rest of the car isn't.

If you're looking at justifying buying an older Cadillac however, I don't think you can. They can be expensive to repair, require premimum fuel and can be tempermental. I wanted a Cadillac first and foremost for their luxurious ride and hopefully longevity. I didn't find either with other domestic cars so I'm willing to tolerate some of their shortcomings.

If you are in the market for a used Cadillac, it's important to find one that you know its' history. Both in the way it was drove and how it was maintained since I don't believe these cars abuse well. To me, finding one that has been babied is well worth paying an extra thousand or two over finding a deal.

Strength:

Smooth ride. Nice to drive

Weakness:

It costs me $200 to shake the hand of the service rep, then he starts charging exorbidant amounts for parts. Very expensive car. And now, I have engine trouble that can't seem to be fixed. Rear bank of cylindars not working properly and it idles fast - uses extreme amounts of gas. Have replaced distributor cap - rotor - coil - O2 sensors - fuel filter and still have the problem - The car is at the tune up specialist now. They can't seem to find the problem. I will NEVER buy another Cadillac!

Strength:

None at all.

Weakness:

A pain to park, horrible Gas milage, accelerates like a dog even with Northstar V8, handles like wet sponge, doors are heavy and hard to open, crappy sound system, horrible visability, night vision is a worthless gimmick, the list goes on and on...

If you're getting a gas hog, you might as well get a gas hog that can actually do something... like a Corvette or Mustang or something.

Weakness:

"Fit and finish"-knobs fall off,cup holders break, carpet comes up, body moulding falls off, rear view mirrors fall off. Radio has failed twice. Constant oil and fluid leaks.

This car has been a pain since I purchased it used from our local Cadillac dealer with 53,000 miles on it. Fortunatly I purchased an extended warrante. My Cadillac spends more time in the shop then on the road. I have replaced the spark plugs(suppose to go 100,000 miles) at 58,000 miles. Transmission, Motor and transimssion seals(because of excess leaks) body mouldings, two radios, cup holders, drivers seat track, seat belt height adjuster, trunk carpet, brakes, trunk activator, battery, engine solonid and wiring harness to name a few items. I have also been charged a 50 dollar deduction every time I have warrante work done. The car has roughly 10,000 miles let of the warrante and then I will get rid of it and not buy American again. My wifes 1996 Isuzu Trooper has 70,000 trouble -free miles on it as well as our 1980 VW bus.

Weakness:

A few cheap interior pieces
Brakes are not world class

This is my first Cadillac having driven 8 cylinder E-Class MB's for the last 7 years. I became disenchantedmy with the E-Class after it's makeover in 1995. The E-Class had lost it's famous solidity and was just another car. After the lease on my 1997 E420 expired I began the search for my next car (I have a 1975 911 that I drove in the meantime).

Enter the Deville DTS, wow. The car is incredibly soild. There are no squeaks or rattles, but there are some cheap interior bits, but no more so than my 1997 E420.

The power provided by the Northstar is seamless. There is plenty of torque everywhere to move this car smartly. The seats are much more comfortable than those of my last MB and the steering wheel just feels right.

Handling is where this car really surprised me. Of course there's body roll, but nothing exceeding my old E-Class. The car is very predictable and inspires confidence when driven aggressively. I'm not saying you should take this car to Laguna Seca, but for a 4,000lb behemoth it's quite accomplished.

The brakes are good, but they don't feel as good as the one's in my old E-Class. They do the job, but don't feel anywhere near as strong. Maybe Brembo will introduce and upgrade?

The stereo is wonderful, as good, if not better than the Nakamichi system in my partner's Lexus LS400. The night vision is a great gimmick that I don't find myself using very often.

I think the look of my DTS is handsome. It looks very sharp from all angles with the headlights being the only possible objection.

This is a very special car. Cadillac is close to be being what they once were. They can make this car perfect. With the German marques slipping in terms of quality this is Cadillac's opportunity to become a market leader instead of being a follower.

Loads of power. Love surprising the kid next to me at the light in the Mustang GT or little raced up Civic when the light changes. This car handles so well and is just a joy to own. Customer Service is excellent and reliabilty has been 100% so far with 18,000 miles.

Weakness:

It is a bit expensive. They need to fine tune the night vision just a tad for more sharpness and to make it less obtrusive. I have to change my focus too much.

Great BIG car with power to haul you and 5 others in style and speed while all in total luxury. Why even consider a BMW?? Lincoln Towncar is light years behind in power and looks.

Easy and smooth rides, nice looks, good materials for the inside gadgets, nice paint job

Weakness:

Bad stero system, cheap pieces, boring, constant trips to the dealers for repairs

We have owned 3 cadys that I can remember. The first one was exellent. Never had a problem, things always worked, looked nice. The second one was pretty goood too. But this one just sucked. The repairs were too much. The cost wasn't worth the trouble. Not recommending this car at all.
