Strength:
Looks good, interior is in good shape for a 98.
Weakness:
The alternator went out on it before I even drove it off the lot. Drivers side electric window went bad, brakes, unusual noises,AC motor is shot, so I can't get any air conditioning or heat. The seat heaters are a good idea, but they don't work, its not tinted.constantly breaks down,I have a 85 Deville, and it drives alot better then my 98. 1998 Cadillac Deville Similar Products Used: 1985 Cadillac Sedan Deville Oldsmobile Cutlass. |

Strength:
Engine power is excellent. Northstar is impressive when it runs. Interior room is great . Kept this one when Caddy downsized the 2001 model but it wasn't a smart move.
Weakness:
Water pump, alternator, electronics, electronics , electronics. It sits in the garage now and won't start , but the trunk and gas cap pop open when you turn the key! This will be the last of Caddy I own and I've had them every other year since 1988. Big comfortable car with plenty of power but not at all reliable. gas, repair costs, and parallel parking To anyone who hasn't lost thier virginity yet I would recomend you run out and buy a SCACALAC(caddy). I have been driving this vehicle for aproxametly 5months and I must admit it never get uncomfortable, the ergonomics are great. Another great feature is the stare factor. You just look a lot tougher in the lac rather than the escort/civic. The digital gauges work great espeacially the computer that tells you when to change oil or check level or even when to mac the hot chick in the adjacent vehicle. I have fallen in love with cadillac my next car will be the cien(if they take rubber checks) I only wish I could get my hands on a 2002 model(maybe they'll give me one for giving such a great review "bling bling") Cadillac is by far the most affordable luxury car in the "bling" class. I just love the feeling of a older women staring at my car wondering if I'm a lawyer or a drug dealer(well maybe not the dealer feeling) Unfortunetly being a young Cadillac owner does have It's downside. I have found police seem to get perturbed at the sight of a young successful caddy owner, but I'm clean so deeez. The ride is so smooth that I can't believe it's not butter. Gas does seem to run a bit high, like you may be spending some days sitting at home waiting for pay day, but I have come to realize I'm driving three civics taped together so the gas situation is acceptable. The main problem with this vehicle is the ridicules price of repairs. I got my rotors turned for $250.00. They did a good job but for that price I was expecing two fine asian girls to come out the trunk and start dancing. I was going to purchase a nissan 300zx but I don't think I can part with my baby. Overall cadillac did excellent job of making you feel like a king in his thrown. Similar Products Used: 90 cadillac sedan deville |

Strength:
strong engine, great room, "the cadillac ride" strong a/c comfort, comfort, comfort.....
Weakness:
quirky rear air compressor, clearcoat on hood and front fenders starting to deteriorate (11 year old car) this car is great, i love it, i myself am an audio installer and am currently working on a custom large QUALITY sound system in it now, the interior is refined and tasteful, nothing surprising, everything seems to be exactly where it should be, the engine is a wonder, great torque off the line and plenty up top for the race car drivers on the road, i am thinking about doing a custom air ride suspension to lower and raise the front and rear greatly, and after i will work on getting some real knock off spoke wheels for it, its a caddy ya need the spokes, overall i havent had any problems with the car other than the rear shock air compressor not pumping at the right times, seems sometimes i have a nyce firm ride to the rear at others seems the rear end is riding on marshmallow''s, but i hope to solve this lil problem with the suspension work im planing on, and other than common problems as far as interior cracks and whatnot, not a problem, and it has just turned 150,000 on the odometer... i would refer this car to just about anyone that likes a great automobile. Strength:
This car has all the room and comfort a person could want. It drives like a dream and handles very well for its size. Very solid car.
Weakness:
Can''t think of any, except for maybe the gas mileage. But what do you expect for a Cadilac. This is the first Caddy that I have ever driven, and with 49,000 miles its a dream to drive. This car does not drive down the road... it glides....What a smooth ride. I have been driving a 94 Explorer for the past 8 years so this is a real treat for me to drive. As far as being an 11 yr old car, this is the best car I have ever driven My kids love it. Put them in the back seat and I don''t hear a peep out of them. Their to busy playing with all the gizmos in the back seat, when their not sleeping in the couch like rear seats. Speaking of which, These seats are more comfortable than the couches I have in my house. To bad I can''t fit my big screen in the back seat....I wouldn''t have to ever leave the car. Driving this car back to So. Califrornia from Texas was an absolute pleasure to drive. It handled like a brand new car. I was suprised to get 22 MPH on the freeway. Althought the body is a little long, but hey! This is a Caddy. I would not expect anything less My Uncle took great care of it, so I plan on doing the same. Who knows? Maybe my daughter will be driving it one of these days. |

Great road car,great pick-up intstantly.
Weakness:
To expensive to maintain. I am the 2nd owner of the caddy. I must admit with a 3k oil change it has given me 230k miles. It had 105k when I purchased it. It had a slight roar to the pulley set-up. To my suprise it was the water pump.I was told by a caddy mechanic that this was a poor design(waterpump). I went through FOUR water pumps.Three of the four were generic pumps with life time warranties. Although I was able to get two more pumps under warranty, they were a PAIN to get off and on. The last pump problem I took to the dealership and it cost me $1095.00. Other cost were instrument''s display went out - $ 595.00 (computer box). Air compressor - $650.00, Frnt rt wheel bearing $100(used).Currently the transmission is not changing out.I don''t even want to get a price for that. I know that small things will happen, but to drive a caddy you better have big check book. Mostly all road miles. Would I buy another one? No |
