Strength:
Buick stands to make money repairing thier mistakes (A strength for THEM)
Weakness:
Nothing BUT This car has been babied . It has had all the maintenance plus. It only has 31,000 pampered miles. The rear rotors crapped out at 19k . They were made from very poor quality iron. The trunk leaked profusely ,the alternator fried at 20k . Now the dealer tells me there is a broken lifter and the engine needs to be replaced-minimum $4,000 ! Buick he says cares not that the car only has 30,000 miles and the engine is trash . I WORK for GM . The car is going to the auction and I am going to the BMW dealer . Buick can't afford a few Goodwill dollars and I can't afford to buy Buicks that need new engines at 30,000 miles . For all you suckers that are now happy --- your luck too will run out. Too many parts from third world suppliers. Buick saves we loose. Similar Products Used: Yugo,Vegamatic,Trojan |

Strength:
Ride, comfort, styling, etc.
Weakness:
The only weakness I can find is the guff I take from friend who say "I drive an old mans car." I am 28 years old and they say I am much too young to drive a luxury style car. I dont care what they say because I know they are just jeolous of all the money I am saving by buying a fine automobile. This is the second Park Avenue I have ever owned and I would buy another in a heart beat. My old Park Avenue was a 1986 with 180,000 miles on. It still ran like new but was totaled in a car accident. I literally cried the day it was taken away. I purchased my 1993 PArk AVenue in 1997 for $12,500. It had 62,500 miles on and now has 139,000 miles on. The interior is like new and it runs like a charm. Its a great car to road trip in because of its ample room. The gas mileage is great for a large luxury car (almost 30 mpg) I will buy another one someday, but for now I plan to keep my current Park Avenue since the dealer said they are know to go over 300,000 miles. I am looking forward to many more enjoyable years in this fine luxury car. Similar Products Used: 1986 Park AVenue |

Strength:
Large and roomy
Weakness:
Poor workmanship and quality. I purchased this car because of the good things I heard about it's quality and reliability. After 3 years I have had major engine work and transmission repair. Currently the car is not running because the engine needs more major repair work. The warranty period was over and GM would do nothing. Thanks, but for the money I spent on this car I will take my business somewhere else. Similar Products Used: Lincoln Towncar |

Buick Park Ave Ultra
Strength:
Extremely efficient and powerful 3800 Supercharged V6
Weakness:
Keyless entry system opens trunk or sets off the distress alarm when in my pocket. I have had to stop and close the trunk many times in traffic. Recently threw the belts off with no explainable reason. I had the mechanic replace two of the four tracking pulleys. Overall extremely satisfied with the value received from this car. originally I was trying to find a 1996 Roadmaster, but couldn't find one that wasn't worn out. The dealer suggested this car to me, and after driving it, I fell in love with the 3800 Supercharged V6. I have had nil problems with either the power train or the body. I took it in to have a small oil leak fixed, and the dealership changed all of the oil seals under warranty. very nice ride, great style for a 12 year old car. reliable and dependable. good gas milage for such a comfortable car,25mpg, with over 200K miles. lots of room for five people. good power from a solid 3800 v6. whitewall tires and wire wheels look classy when clean. Insurance is very low.
Weakness:
none. im only 26 yrs old but i would buy another used one in a heartbeat, even if it had 150K on it. great value. Keep it clean and it is a great source of pride. Hand me down from the folks with 112K miles on it. The car is great, now has 204K miles. very trouble free car. can fit 4 set of golf clubs and 4 buddies in the car and cruise to the course at 80+MPH, no sweat! Eat your heart out Honda. It has a nice trunk? I guess I can''t think of anything nice!
Weakness:
Listed above Overall, I''d have to say the Buick Park Avenue SUCKS. I bought a 1999 new, and have had a million problems with it. It has had both engine and tranny problems as well as battery problems. One of the vacuum hoses slipped off and the car ran like crap. There was nothing to even hold the hose on. It was free to slide on and off as it wanted to. I had many ignition problems, some related to the alarm system. There were times I could not get the car to do anthing when I would turn the key. There is an electrical problem that keeps the sunroof from closing sometimes. The dash pannels seperated on their own. If you don''t have the supercharged engine, it is a very slow engine. I have been fighting with GM and the dealership. They refuse to do anything for me. Strength:
comfortable interior, attractive exterior styling, plenty of power.
Weakness:
complicated interior controls, some fit and finish issues, non-impressive handling, doesn''t excell at anything, there are better cars on the market for the same money. I rented this car after my wife totalled her Nissan Pathfinder so we could buy her a new vehicle. Initially, I wanted her to go back to a sedan and really liked the Park Avenues. But, after driving it for a week, I was not impressed. My first impression of the car was when I opened the driver''s door to get in and noticed that the power seat control panel on the side of the seat had popped off. I snapped it back on and settled in. panel would pop back off whenever I sat in the seat. Leather seats were very comfy and looked nice. Dash board was overly complicated and seemed out of place in such a sporty luxury car. This car is aimed at the elderly market, and I couldn''t imagine my grandmother ever figuring out the heater and radio controls on this car. Controls on steering wheel came in handy. Power was very nice, handling was a bit too soft, but ride was great. Didn''t check actual mpg, but it seemed very thirsty. Body design of car is very attractive and rear seat is roomy. Overall feel of interior was one of cheap luxury; nice than the average sedan, but some materials were just not adequate for a luxury car. Overall, a nice car with a cushy ride, sporty appearance, comfortable interior, but didn''t do anything extremely well. There are plenty of luxury sedans on the market for the same money that are much more refined. A good grandma car, if grandma isn''t too picky. Strength:
Quiet, potent performance from supercharged 3800 V-6. Good gas mileage with low rpm''s at highway speed (1900 rpm''s at 70 mph. Comfortable seats, huge trunk.
Weakness:
My car does not have the Gran Touring suspension and, although the ride seemed great on the test drive, I found the front end was way too soft on undulating roadways. I cured this problem by installing Monroe Sensa-Trac struts on the front, leaving the automatic air shocks in the rear. The car still rides just as smoothly, but does not have the bounce in the front end any more. The dealer told me he would prefer my car with the heavier front struts to one with the Gran Touring as he felt it rides too roughly. I don''t know as I haven''t driven one so equipped. The supercharged engine requires premium fuel. My Park Avenue Ultra is the best car I have ever owned. I owned two Cadillacs before it, and there is no discernable difference in the cars to justify the additional cost. Also, I prefer the proven cast iron Buick 3800 V-6 to the aluminum Northstar engine in the Cadillac. If the engine ever overheats, your chance of having extensive engine damage is much less with a cast iron engine. The car rides very smoothly and quietly,is very responsive and delivers 28-30 MPG on the highway at 70 mph. The doors shut with the quality sound of a Mercedes and it has very comfortable seats with a huge trunk with low liftover for easy loading.
