Audi A4 2.8 FWD
Strength:
Handling was amazing, kick off the line is awesome, triptonic shifting rules for incompetents who can't drive a stick, really stylish
Weakness:
Weakness and Audi can't be used in the same sentence This car absolutely kicks ass... i was originally against a 4 door car until my wife made me test drive the Audi and i was hooked. I had always wanted a standard but noone would teach me...this solved that problem...and i couldn't believe that you only have to change the oil every 10 000 miles, i nearly passed out when the saleman told me that. Similar Products Used: Acura CL 3.0, Audi handles way better and seems to have more power despite an allegedly smaller engine |

A4 1.8T Quattro (before the upgrade to 170 hp)
Strength:
Handling, acceleration, in dash CD play w/cassette, The build quailty, the fact that its a car that makes you want to drive, great seats, great interior lighting(the red), huge trunk, all kinds of fun little buttons...
Weakness:
back seat room (small price to pay). This is a quality car, I've owned two. And I don't see myself getting into another car in the near future. The Quattro system is priceless... Don't purchase an Audi w/out the Quattro... It would be like buying a cheeseburger w/out the meat... Handling is excellent, acceleration is perfect... and the turbo makes driving this car fun. I've been in a pretty bad accident in my first one (it was totaled), Me and my girlfriend didn't have a scratch on us... The other car was trashed (it was going the wrong way on a one way street and hit my left side), and all three people had injuries. Audi A4 1.8T
Strength:
Gorgeous look and impressive interior. Great stock power that can be easily boosted with a chip. Sport package is a must and makes the handling oh so much better. Puts BMW's to shame.
Weakness:
All the people who want to race you when you're just going to the mall. For some reason, they feel the need to match up to you. I personally don't humor them since I know I could smoke them with my eyes closed. My first Audi, and will not be my last. This car is just too awesome. I guess the only way to do better is by getting your hands on an S4, if you can find one. Otherwise, the A4 is just tops out there. Don't go for the 6 cyl engine since the price difference is not worth it. The turbo 4 is almost as powerful and a hell of a lot more sporty. A4 1.8T Quattro
Strength:
- solid German engineering
Weakness:
No major weaknesses. This is my first Audi - I love the car! The dealership was great too. I was going to get another Honda (I have a 97 Accord), but I decide to try out the A4 - I never looked back! Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda are all excellent cars with top reliabilty, but it seems like these cars were designed to get you from point A to point B. They lack styling and driving experience which the Audi has. I just hope my Audi will be as reliable as my Honda - if it is, my next one is the S4! Similar Products Used: BMW - great power and handling, but more expensive and lacks styling, the interior is boring |

Audi A4
Strength:
quattro, materials, reliability, handling, style, class.
Weakness:
back seat legroom I've owned this Audi A4 for a little over a year. I have to say it's the best car I've had so far! as you can read in all the reviews, the quattro handles magnificent and will get you out of trouble more than once (specially if snow is a common thing where you live). I definitely recommend snow tires though, specially if you get the sport package because the Dunlop tires that the car has with this package are terrible for the snow. They'll make you skid like you are on a sleigh, not a car. Similar Products Used: VW Passat GLX, BMW 323i, Volvo S40, Lexus IS300 |

Strength:
This car is a quality piece. Very fine materials used throughout and very tastefully done. Every time you get into the car you sense the quality. Good acceleration for a 4cyl. and you can chip it if you need more power. The sport suspension and handling are quite good. Plus, you have to order xenon lights! I had the car in 10 inches of snow last week, and with quattro, the car never lost traction. It is clearly the best "snow" car I have driven. Bose stereo is a good choice as well. Quiet and comfortable on the Interstate.
Weakness:
Styling is a bit dated now. I happen to love this body style, but if you need something newer, the 2002 is coming. Not a lot of rear seat room if needed. 5-speed not as crisp as some others. This is my favorite sport sedan to date. Each day it confirms my decision, It also has a great warranty and a free maintenance program. If you love compact German sport sedans, buy an A4! Car and Driver had it right last year in a comparison test, " It's a sports sedan of impeccable balance." Similar Products Used: Test drove a 330CI which was faster but didn't overly impress in terms of handling/steering. The beige interior didn't cut it either. The Lexus 300IS styling is a bit too funky for me. The A4 has a huge cost advantage, even with quattro. |

1.8t Quattro Manual
Strength:
Great Engine (Have the Wetterauer 1 bar chip worth 200 HP!)
Weakness:
More wind noise than I had expected I am absolutely in love with this car! I test drove my car and bought it the the next day. The interior of the car is IMO better than the 323/325 and goes completely loaded for some $5000 less. The five speed is geared a little low for the freeway driving in Detroit, but I don't have to downshift to pass either. The Bose sound system is worth the extra money as well as the sport package due to the better looking wheels (the stock 15s are really bad!). This is a great value if you are looking to get in to an entry level sport compact sedan from Germany. Similar Products Used: BMW 323i |

A4 1.8TQS
Strength:
I've always been an Audi fan and had 3 Audi cars prior to purchase of the A4. The first moment I saw the car, there was instant chemistry between us.
Weakness:
It's underpowered, but I'm going to install MTM stage 2 package on it in a few weeks, and it's going to solve the problem. I would storngly recommend buying this car for a person who enjoys driving, Similar Products Used: I was considering between BMW 325ix and the A4 1.8 TQ, but the Audi is siginificantly cheaper, and I think overall a much better value for the money. And especially if someone plans to modify it for further power gains. There is not much that can be done with a BMW. |

Audu A-4 Avant Wagon
Strength:
Great overall package. Sporty feel, Tuetonic driving sensation. Lots of techy extras from digital radio reception to tiptonic shifting (manual shifter). This is a great alternative to those who don't want the overkill of an SUV and want performance with cargo capacity. I am in two bands and carry equitpment all the time. The rear cargo space is very functional with tie downs, plush carpeting and a cargo net. There is a ski pouch that lets you tote skis without getting the car wet. All in all a very well thought out design.
Weakness:
The manual front seat with turning knob (for reclining) is a bad idea and is the main detraction from a car that is in the luxury market. Power window controls are a little to far back For those looking to enter the luxury market and want the best of an entry level German car, you cannot beat this car. If you are looking for less of a performance car and want more luxury for the money, I would go Japaneese. I just sold an Acura CL 3.0 which was more comfortable; however, I look forward to getting into the A-4 and driving it. Isn't that what its all about? Similar Products Used: I considered a BMW 325 wagon, and a Volvo sport coupe (S-80?). The BMW had a better overall driver feel (because it is a rear wheel drive car), but not by much. The A-4 handles well, but is a hair shy of the absolute feeling of cornering control that you feel with a "beemer". In all other respects the A-4 seems superior to the beemer. It is more sylish, up to date, ergonomically designed and value to boot. The Saab was an interesting consideration, but did not stack up in the performance catagory. |

A4 1.8T
Strength:
Good looks, Build Quality that is second to none, Stiff Chasis that makes for quick steering, Interior Ergonomics, Perfect compromise between sport and luxury.
Weakness:
Tight rear seating. Not much else. This is a hard car to fault. I never considered buying an Audi until the A4. I'm now a big fan of Audi. All their cars are so well engineered and well thought out. Being a car enthusiast, this is the perfect daily driver. It has the perfect compromise between comfort and handling. Long jaunts are easy in this car because of it's non fatiguing ride. Everything in this car is well laid out from the perfect seats to the controls. Steering is quick and direct but has enough understeer dialed in to keep one from getting into trouble at higher limits. My old '95 325is with the sportpkg handles better at the limits but it also rides much rougher. The A4 exudes refinement. The only thing on my wish list for this car is more power. I guess it's time to consider an S4 or RS4. Similar Products Used: BMW 3series, Mercedes C-class, Acura TL, Volvo S40, VW Passat. |
