Features. Performance. Craftsmanship.
Weakness:
Size of Back seat is tiny and Trunk is ultra deep. I may be willing to give up some trunk space for some extra rear-seat room. Radio not so great. Love to drive it. I have had it for 4 days and already put 800 miles on it. I just want to drive everywhere, which I think is a great sign of a car. There seems to be a clicking coming from inside the dash that may only be there in the frigid weather we are having. AWD works great even with the sport package and the "summer-only" tires. I have yet to get stuck or lose control. The upgrade from 150 to 170hp is what clinched it for me. The engine was nice before, but there is a drastic difference now. It pulls strongly in every gear, no need to downshift to pass on the freeway. The build quality is impressive as are the features for the money. I listened to the stock system and the bose and didn't notice much differnce and couldn't justify the extra $. The radio is weak. I traded my Lexus ES300 with the premium radio, so maybe I have been spoiled by what I consider the best stock radio I have ever heard. All in all, a great car with the looks, performance, and features someone who loves to drive will enjoy. Strength:
Terrific in snow.
Weakness:
Too many minor problems for a car this price. e.g. - distortion in windshield at delivery, tiptronic failed, speaker went bad, etc. However, worst problem continues to be scalloped tires with resulting road noise. Have had two sets, Dunlops and Michelins, with exactly the same results. Audi claims that this is normal, or it's a tire problem, or it's our problem - it is not an Audi problem. Additionally, with the Michelins (Pilot all-season), the road noise is really unbearable. This has been such a continuing problem during our 47,000 miles of driving, and the response from Audi has been so negative, that we will never own another Audi. Last, but not least, spare parts for the Audi seem to be in short supply in this area. I have not seen anyone else list this tire/road noise problem like we've had so I have to believe that we are one of those people who gets a bummer. The Audi would really be a winner if we had not experienced this problem. We would gladly overlook the minor problems, especially since Audi took care of them as quickly as possible given the parts situation. For those of you who have not had a problem, great! Based on our first experience with an Audi, this will be our last experience with an Audi. Similar Products Used: Lexus 250, Lexus 300. No comparison - Lexus may not handle like this Audi, and the Audi is the best I've seen in snow (not counting 4WD SUVs), but Lexus beats this car hands down for quality and reliability. |

Love the fit and finish, styling, ergonomics, and even the acceleration. A great road car. I drive the interstate about 70 mi/day and this car feels so safe.
Weakness:
I have had so many problems with the car that Audi has offered to buy the car back from me. I am still considering another A4, or a Passat. I would not recommend this car unless you are willing to take a chance on reliablity. The warranty goes to 50k miles, but after that you are on your own with very high repair bills. Maybe leasing would be good if you don't drive too many miles. Strength:
Smooth ride, quick acceleration, excellent handling (sport package), Quattro is amazing in all conditions, not just sloppy weather. I also like the quality of materials, the solid feel of the car, and the refinement of the drivetrain. This car feels like it's carved from granite.
Weakness:
Tight back seat, cruise control placement. I would recommend this as the perfect small sports sedan. I would not recommend it if you just use and abuse your cars...this car requires TLC to satisfy. Similar Products Used: It is suppost to compete with the BMW 3 series, and Mercedes C series, but the A4's price and features put in a class all it's own. There is no competition. |

Nicest put together car I've owned. Workmanship is superb. Very tight finish. Bose radio upgrade is well worth the money. Handles great with exciting acceleration. Tiptronic transmission is fun to use and performs by shifting quite well. Can wind out to redline without any hesitation. Is a very quiet ride and the seats are quite comfortable in front. Haven't been in the backseats yet but my son says they are very nice and give good support.Gas mileage is good and averaged 22.5 mpg with first tank and this was mainly city driving. Get a lot of compliments about the car's appearance, even the teenagers give it a thumbs up. Dash gauges are quite clear and easy to read. Love the red lighting at night. Have no complaints at present.
Weakness:
No apparent weaknesses yet. Would highly recommend to anyone that wants quality in a car without paying a small fortune for it. A very safe car with high tech safety features. Uses premium gas but performance is well worth it. A great looking car that is less common on the road than the BMW and Mercedes counterparts and a much better bang for the buck. Accelleration with the Quattro means no burning tires, it just moves.
Weakness:
Gas is a moderate hit on budget. I've had this car less than a month and am still in the love mode. I was really adamant about straying from the BMW lines but once I did comparisons on reliability, cost of ownership, performance, and styling. it was a no-brainer. The insurance on this is about $550/year lower than a similar BMW. Similar Products Used: 2001 Toyota Celica - Handling is okay, my 2.8 A4 ate one alive at the line |

Strength:
beautiful car, nice handling, love the easy gear shifting and the quite engine
Weakness:
Wind noise in driver side window, gas guzzler. Worst of all, my transmission is making a loud annoying rattle in all forward gears (1-5). Dealership wants at least $850 to give a proper diagnosis. Thinks they will have to pull the transmission apart. Mister Transmission and two other auto mechanics suggested problem with probably my crown gear or pinion gear. Audi refuses to offer any help unless an audi mechanic gives the diagnosis. Any suggestions on what can be done? or anyone with similar problems email me at kevibee@yahoo.com Highly recommended right now. My mind might be changed depending on what resolution I get with Audi and the problem I'm having with my transmission. I will post a follow up later. Similar Products Used: besides the transmission problem that just started. I love it. I actually bought it over the BMW 325 |

Strength:
I knew that I was in trouble the first time I set my posterior into an A4. Just closing the door communicates the quality of this fine machine. As an engineer, and an automobile enthusiast, I can appreciate how this car continues to impress and surprise me. The fit/finish is impeccable, and the whole experience of interacting with this car is completely thought out. All the controls have a great tactile feel, and are placed in nice locations, and all of them operate like a fine watch. I now understand what it is that defines German quality!!
Weakness:
Power. It's important to understand that I am a performance junkie, so my definition of power is somewhat skewed. I also live at high altitude which also detracts from the capability of this engine. Overall, the power is sufficient, but to attempt a "combat" pass while climbing a hill is still a bit of a stretch for this engine. I will add though, that the powerband is nicely placed right around 3000 rpm. It's not often that you need to downshift to simply cruise up a hill. I highly recommend this car. If you are anal-retentive and find that very few things in this world meet with your expectations... this car will renew your beliefs.... amen. Similar Products Used: I looked at BMW and Volvo, but neither compared to the value and versatility of the Audi. $ for $ the Audi gives you much more car. |

Strength:
loaded with value, awesome performance, quottro holds the road like nothing else, power, style
Weakness:
No weakness. It is loaded with design and style plus performance It is just a fabulous car. It is a joy to drive and you can't even come close to comparing it to BMW on value. I feel it drives better than a BMW as well. Especially if you compare like models at the same price point. an entry level BMW would have been 6k more and couldn't even come close to the features, performance and realiablity of the A4 Similar Products Used: BMW, Volvo, Saab. better than all three. Test drove BMWs. Thought I had to have a BMW. One drive in the A4 and i was a believer |
