Miata LS
Strength:
Girl Magnet Good Accleration Good Fuel Economy Excelent cornering Love the sound system
Weakness:
Inside wasn't designed by to smart of a person, who came up with putting the drink coasters right behind the shifter nob??? Takes to long to get to 100 mph. Under powered Girl magnet!!! Might have been the most sought after car by homosexuals but it attracts girls left and right. LS series comes with an excellent sound system. A bose radio system that puts 21 inch speakers with 3000 watt amps to shame. Big things do come in small packages. |

Miata SE six speed manual
Strength:
- Agility -- totally remarkable !!! - Cornering -- best I have ever experienced car or motorcycle - Gas Mileage -- 30 MPG always - Top up/down ease - Open air motoring with the office in the rear view mirror (life is too short) - Fits in a two car garage with a van and a full dress touring motorcycle (Gold Wing)
Weakness:
- More power (biggest gripe, the rest are minor) - Notchy shifter -- not bad but not the best in its class - Tight if 6'tall, cramped if 6'1", impossible if over 6'2" - Too small if you like to intimadate people or ride high in the saddle (not the same thing) I drove a Lexus ES300 for 8 years and 120000 miles with zero maintenance issues (I changed oil, filters, tire rotations myself). As I was getting ready for retirement from the Army at age 50 I went to modernize with another ES300. My son, age 20, talked me into a life style change and a Miata SE. So far he has led me down the right path. I got the zinc metallic exterior with saddle tan leather interior -- so it does not look like a "chick car" (I was a combat engineer for 26 years). So far its been trouble free for 11,000 miles and has never been in the dealership (I performed the inital checks and oil change -- don't want someone getting trained on car). I am 72 1/2 inches tall and I have driven it 800 miles in one day to Iowa with no problem with comfort (if I was another 1/2 inch taller I probably would not fit). You may want to bring ear plugs if driving more than four hours straight with the top down. Noise is minmal with top down but the affect of noise on ears is cumulative on over time without a break. I have a Goldwing motorcycle which I have put over 40,000 miles on in less than 4 years (also driven 800 miles to Iowa in one day). After I bought the car, the wife and I did a day trip to the mountains of Western North Carolina. Specifically the motorcycle mecca roads of Deals Gap and the Dragon. I could not believe the agility and cornering capabilities of this car!! My Goldwing is not a sport bike but the Miata could beat the Goldwing down a winding mountain road any day. The beauty of the Miata over the motorcycle is its less painful driving in the rain and I don't have to check the weather every time I go out. I highly recommend it as a second car especially for the working stiff who spends the day inside the office. One really gets to unwind at the end of the day (killer sound system also) with the top down. I can put it up/down with my right hand with no problems -- and have done it traveling up to stoplights (deaccelerating less than 5 MPH) with the rain coming at me -- and beat the rain by not getting a drop in the interior. I get 30 MPG no matter how hard I push it. Initally I was going to get a turbo installed but decided not to when I discovered the later models have knock sensors which can affect tuning. Later I discovered I can get respectable power if it get up to over 4500 rpm on shifts. My brother bought a new Porsche Similar Products Used: The following were all purchased new: '71 Mustang -- Shake rattle and roll '74 Cougar -- needed a 50 gallon gas tank '77 Vette -- good looks, just hoped to get there '79 Monte Carlo -- got rid of |

Strength:
The handling is damn good, James Bond style. MPG, Convertible. It has an extra suprising kick when you need it, when you want to pass some a$$hole for instance. The handling is once again, just amazing. Low to the ground, great on turns. Fun car to drive. Don't race. Trust me. Girls think its "cute".
Weakness:
Lack of power, god, this car would be soo much better with atleast 180 horses haul'n a$$. A little packed (Im 6'1). Girls think its "cute". It is a fun car to drive, girls think it "cute". I don't know what to take from that. Some people might love it, I for one am not really a 2 seater kind of guy for now. But for people who are looking for one that is cheap, this is a great buy. Mita
Heres what really matters: Forget all the teck talk. In less than a year, I've taken the car from New York City to Canda (all the way to the northern part of Quebec) 3 times. I have an auto. Don't let people talk you into a stick if you live in a big city. The hard-top is worth it in the winter. The rear veiw is muck better with the hard top. Be careful getting out of the car. A few times, I let the seatbelt get stuck in the door and poke a hole in the door. I am about 5' 10". If I were one inch taller, I couldn't be confortable in this car. I love this car very much. It is great to park. If you think it's too small for the highway, you'll get used to its size. If your a guy and you want to impress the ladies, it works. I met a very sexy girl, and I swear she said when she saw me in my Mita, I look different. Shallow? Who cares. Get the car, get the chicks. Most of them don't know the diffence between a Mita and a Vett anyway. |

Mazda Miata
Strength:
Great handling, great steering, great short-throw transmission. Overall a super fun car to drive.
Weakness:
The throttle response could be better. It is not as peppy as it could be. The gearing is also on the low side. The engine revs high at freeway speed (this has been resolved by a 6th gear on newer models). The drain plugs in the rocker panels could be bigger. Water tends to build up in the rocker panels. This is a common problem with earlier Miatas. Storage space is a very limited, but you do not buy this car for hauling stuff. Also the body structure could be a little stiffer. Irregularities in the road causes cowl shakes. I have had this car for a little over a month. It is a blast to drive. It is also an attention getter. This car has 96k miles and still drives great. The previous owners never drove it in winter and always garaged it so the body is in great shape for being 11 years old. I highly recommend this car to anyone who loves to drive. Similar Products Used: I've owned an '86 Toyota MR2. This is also a fun car to drive, but the handling, the steering and the transmission in the Miata are far superior to the MR2. The engine however in the MR2 is more respo |

Miata (price in cdn$)
Strength:
--handling, steering, overall responsiveness, styling, and above all, wonderful gearbox
Weakness:
--get used to the high revs, it's not a mustang. . .sagging glove box. golfers with full size bags had better get creative. ridiculously misplaced cupholders (your elbow slams into cups everytime you reach for the shifter) driving it puts a smile on your face, and it screams 'summer' every time you drop yourself into the driver's cockpit. the 5-spd tranny is silky smooth, and fabulous connection to the road. power really kicks in between 4-7000 rpms, shifts at 5k leave you in the powerband for more ponies as you work your way up the gearbox. owners taller than 6' may find themselves staring at the headliner and visor bar instead of the road. overall, a great 'everyday' sports car that will allow you to push it to the limit 99% of the time. Strength:
Balance-balance-balance Amazing aftermarket support Looks great Amazing reliability and ease of maintenance (if you know what youre doing) Stock exhaust note Shifter feel Rear wheel drive This car will last for a very long time Everything else but the weaknesess mentioned below
Weakness:
Very few: relatively cheap top, vinyl window (on older models), cheap spark plug wires, shocks wear out fast but aftermarket replacements are excellent, headlight power is terrible (again, replaceable), cheap paint, safety is a problem in rain, snow - also a sickening diproportion of SUVs and pickups makes crowded streets a tad scary, thats all Fantastic car all around. It's key component is balance. The power curve of the engine feels perfectly matched with the gear ratios of the transmission, as well as the overall weight and handling ability of the car. One may feel the inclination to purchase aftermarket performance but there is really no point in wasting money - save it for your next miata. As another reviewer has said, you can use 100% of the car on the way to the grocery. That cannot be said for most sports cars. Not to mention that adding a turbo or similar device changes the car to point where it is no longer a miata (in my opinion). Some may whine about cargo capacity but this is a sports car. The trunk handled enough for a five day trip to florida (7 hour drive) for my wife and I. I purchased a Graber bike rack for the trunk (the only brand that seems to fit). Similar Products Used: I've researched every single car exhaustively and driven nearly every German car ever made. Nothing can match the Miata in it's price range (and thousand above) for its simplicity, function, reliabili |

Handles marvelously Good gas mileage Easy to service Easy to keep clean
Weakness:
Slight compartment cramping. If the seats are too far forward, the seat belt is difficult to reach. I found that by sewing a small button onto the seat belt just were the clip will always be at the top of the retracted belt, it makes it easier to find the clip when reaching for it. This is a fine Roadster to say the least. It is a pleasure to drive, albeit, not on particularly long drives. It's a sports car to take those Saturday/Sunday drives along the beaches or on short day trips. I always get "looks" when I drive it. |

Strength:
- Smooth brake response - Finally a four cylinder with a nice factory exhaust note. - Perfect turning balance with just a hint of oversteer. - Great Styling. - Extremely prcise shifter. (I highly recommend the 6-speed.) - Fun factor matched only by other vehicles requiring much deeper pockets. (It's like a go-kart you can drive to the office.) -Plenty of aftermarket upgrades are available.
Weakness:
-A little more stock power would be nice. -Interior is still a bit cramped. The third-generation Miata is a fantastic, well-balanced sports car. Not quite as powerfull as some others I've driven, but with a little aftermarket help to let the engine breathe better, it has plenty of ponies to get the job done. There are several other higher-priced cars that are "capable" of taking turns faster, but few can do it with the poise and pinache of this little beauty. With the '99 redesign, Mazda squeezed a few more inches into the interior. It is however, a bit cramped for some of the larger car enthusiasts. With a playful manner, handsome styling and in my opinion a shifter that is second only to the Acura NSX, it's difficult to avoid dropping the top, turn up the music and soak up the sun with your highly-exposed pearly whites.
