1998 Honda Prelude Type SH
Strength:
Faster turn-in than stock. Steering is very crisp and linear.
Weakness:
Cant really tell if it stiffened up the car. I think this is due to the ATTS acting on the car in a turn. Numbs the effect of what its doing. I did pull the fuse on the ATTS unit to see if i could feel the difference and there difenitely was one. This bar has good looks and tightens up a very rigid Generation 5 Prelude. I think this bar will keep everything tight for the life of the vehical. Im glad I purchased this. Brand new was only 89 bucks. Similar Products Used: NA |

Strength:
It tightens the suspension up front a little, gives a little less understeer. Looks real cool in the engine bay. Takes a lot of the twist out of the frame when going around sharp corners fast, real easy to install.
Weakness:
You have to take it off to do maintenance to the car, ie. timing belt, camgears, etc. gets in the way a little. You can't really tell that much of a difference except when making tight highspeed turns when the tires grip and the frame usually twists more. I paid $120, wasn't the best price I had seen but I needed it in a hurry for a show and cheaper places take forever to ship. For somebody who may do Autocross or just wants that little extra thing to look cool in the engine I would recommend it, if you get it and think it is going to make an awesome difference in your handling think again, it is another little piece in the suspension tuning business. Strength:
It looks really nice in the engine bay, was very easy to install, tightens up the suspension.
Weakness:
I haven't really had to work on my car much since I put it on, but I know it's going to get in the way. This was defenitley worth the money ($97 chrome). My car seemed way more responsive and stuck way better on turns. Of course I do also have H&R race springs, which prolly makes it perform all the much better, but if your car is lowered you'll defenintley love how much this bar helps out. Don't let all those people scare you that say you have to bend it to get it on. It doens't match up perfect, but it's only a couple centimeters off, all you have to do is put a little tension on it and it goes right into place. Similar Products Used: None |

99 Honda Prelude Type SH
Strength:
Good clean looks, good design (in theory)
Weakness:
Gets in the way of access to the oil filter, as do most strut tower bars for the SH Prelude I really can't feel that much difference between my car with this strut tower bar installed and without it. It makes me wonder whether a difference can even be quantified. I don't know how stiff the chassis in the Gen5 Prelude is (it's supposed to be a good bit stiffer than the Gen4 Preludes), but can't say that these strut tower bars made a big difference. I am trying to source a GAB Sports or a Spoon Sports strut tower bar as we speak... Will post a review of either unit if I managed to get my hands on a set (if they exist!!) 1999 CR-V ex
Strength:
-steering feels lighter
Weakness:
-none (so far) Installation of the strut bar is straight-forward. Although the sprocket wrench, which is so handy when unbolting nuts, is not deep enough to cap over the shock tower's screws and unbolt the nuts. Instead, I used an open head wrench that encases the entire bolt. The bolts came off easily w/o the car having to be raised. The bar itself is slightly off margin to the shock screws by about a centimeter, but it was no problem getting the bar to slip onto them.
