HONESTLY THE REVIEW THAT I HAVE READ SO FAR ARE INACCURATE, AND ARE BASED NOT ON FACT. THE FACT IS THAT NONE OF THE REVIEWS MENTIONED IF THE CONSUMER HAD ROTATED THE TIRES ON SCHEDULE, OR HAD THE RIGHT FITMENT. FOR EXAMPLE THE PERSON WITH THE MAXIMA MENTIONED THAT THEY REPLACED ONLY TWO AT A TIME, AND AFTER 30,000 MILES THE TIRES BEGAN TO CUPP. IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THEY NEVER ROTATED THEM!!! OR IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THE O.E. TIRES THAT HAVE 30,000 MILES MORE EXPERIENCE MAY HAVE UN-VULCONIZED AND MAKE THE CAR RIDE BAD!!! NOW THE GUY WITH THE PORSCHE DOESN'T EVEN HAVE A LEG TO STAND ON. WHY? BECAUSE THE YOKOHAMA AVID SERIES IS A SPORT TOURING TIRE, NOT A ROAD RACING TIRE!!! DUH!! MAYBE WHAT HE SHOULD HAVE PURCHASED IS A TIRE IN A HIGHER SPEED RATING, AND MORE SOLID/CONTINOUS TREAD TO ALLOW FOR THE HIGH SPEED/ABUSIVE CORNERING. THESE TIRES WERE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED FOR RAIN, AND DRY TRACTION. I.E. THE 20 DEGREE V-GROOVES ARE DESIGNED TO CHANNEL RAIN THE THE CIRCUMFIRENTIAL GROOVES FOR MINIMAL HYDROPLANING. THE INTERNAL CHEMICALS OF THE TIRE I.E. SILICA WERE INCORPORATED FOR A SMOOTHER RIDE, AND HEAT RESISTENCE. AGAIN THESE ARE SPORT-TOURING ALL SEASON RADIALS. NOT ULTRA-HIGH PERFORMANCE RACE TIRES. THE GENTELMAN THAT OWNED THE PORSCHE SHOULD HAVE CHOOSEN THE YOK0 A032 !ROAD-RACE! TIRE, OR THE AVS ES100. THESE TIRES ARE APPLICATION/PERFORMANCE SPECIFIC. AND THE PERSON THAT OWNS THE MAXIMA SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THERE TIRES IN SETS OF FOUR, AND KEPT ON A ROTAION SCHEDULE. THE FACT OF THE MATTER HERE PEOPLE IS NOT THAT THE TIRES ARE BAD, BUT IT IS THE AMOUNT OF CONSUMER- UNAWARENESS!! |

Strength:
look, feel, sound, ride, performance
Weakness:
there not perelli everybody else is crazy. I know tires and I KNOW that this tire is excellent at what is ultimately meant for. I have 215/40/17's and i am in love with them. The ride is nice and quiet and smooth dispite being 17's. The grip is unbelievable and the sway on 40's is negligable. These tires are so good and have such good grip that in my dressed up, modded civic it's sometimes difficult to seriously squeel the tires. The braking is even better, especially being 17's. i've been burning around on these for 2 months now and i still have the rubber tassels on the top of the tread. EXCELLENT TIRE, EXCELLENT COMPANY, EXCELLENT BUY. the only tire better is the perelli's but they are major dollar signs. oh and the yoke's have a great look too. Strength:
quiet ride(no road noise), doesn''t hold on to lines in the road, grips well through the corners.
Weakness:
i should have ordered the tires with the lip protector... i used to have 40 series Nitto''s on my 16 inch rims.. they were noisy and wore down much quicker than the avid h4''s. i now have the yokohama avid h4 205/45/16. they''re extremely quiet(quieter than stock integra type r tires!) and they handle perfectly for how i drive.. i''ve had them on my Gsr for about 30,000 miles and i think they are worth every penny. since i live in southern california i cant comment on rain or snow conditions. but there is a flat strip on the center of the tire that squeaks when i stop/slow down on painted letters/numbers on the street. 25mph freeway interchange turns can be tackled at about 55mph without losing control. and they hook up well at the track(drag racing). i think this is a geat tire for everyday driving. The only other tire that i''ve seen that outperforms this tire(daily driving + occasional cornering) are the yokohama paradas. but the life of the avid h4''s are longer.. 1997 Nissan Maxima SE
Strength:
Looks, wet traction, and grip.
Weakness:
treadwear, and durability. I purchased a set of Yokohama Avid V4''s for my 97 Maxima SE to replace the stock Toyo Proxy A05''s. I brought them mainly for the look and I also read good reviews on this particular tire. Not to mention they were a heck of a lot cheaper the the A05''s. When I first put them on I noticed they didnt ride as good as the A05''s but I over looked that. I have had these tires for almost a year now and put 30,000 miles on them and they almost need replacing. They have gotten noisier, and makes the car ride like crap. Remember these two sayings no matter what you purchase. You get what you pay for, and everything that glitters aint always gold. I learned this the hard way..... Strength:
Fast, quiet, smooth, spins - my kind of tire.
Weakness:
They have a very short life, and I understand that this is why people give them pooerer ratings. However, if you are a sport driver and are very devoted to racing and street performance, price is not an issue for your tires. If you are like me, you will love these. Great tires - fast, corner well to me, quiet, nice skid if you're into it. Similar Products Used: It is the only H-rated tire I know that performs like a Z-rated, yet lasts like a V-rated. |

Strength:
They have great traction and really hug the road, Especially when you first buy them. They also can handle some high performance driving.
Weakness:
They do not last long at all. I have had mine for less than 20K miles and both front and back are already bald. That is with normal driving and normal rotations. They are good tires and perform very well. If you want to buy these tires expect not to keep them long and forking out another $400 for a new set. Similar Products Used: Toyo, Kumho |

Great Tire for cornering, good Grip power. Snow handeling in dry snow was good while under 15, miles. Drove long periods at 90mph with no issues at all
Weakness:
Had to replace at 18,000 miles, this seems short to me, I would like to get 25K to 30K on a tire. Since it came on the new car, it was OK, I will look hard at Toyos or other better wearing tires. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Great steering response, immediate turn-in. Reaaltively inexpensive. Available in hard-to-find 215-55x16 size.
Weakness:
The Avid V4s are very noisy Bought a set of 215-55VR16 tires for my 99 Maxima. Immediately noticed a tremendous improvement in dry grip and steering response. Also noticed a stiffer ride and a little road noise. After prox 15K miles the tires became unbearable noisy -- lots of rumble at anything above 30mph, especially noticeable in my very quiet Maxima. Too bad, because there was lots of tread left when I replaced them at 24K miles. Maybe this is just the way it is with V-rated tires. I love my new Bridgestone Turanzas H Revos. They are smooth, quiet, and seem to corner and respond every bit as well as the Avid V4s. Similar Products Used: BFG Comp T/A VR4, Bridgestone Potenza RE-92VR |

Weakness:
After about 20K miles the wet weather traction degrades quite a bit. Compared to Michelin XV4s: If you like to drive aggressively, I highly recommend them. While the rain performance at first is superb, it degrades after 20K miles. On dry, hugs the road like a panther. Still good on Similar Products Used: Michelin XV4 are more pricey and last a lot longer, but don't perform |
