Strength:

good dry grip, low road noise going down highway, long tread life, great for high speed cornering, and a great price for the quality of the product, no risk of BIG hydro-plane,no funky skids during a hard braking

Weakness:

on wet surfaces they start to lack just a little bit, but no risk of a BIG hydro plane,

These Yokohamas have been excellent tires! no matter what kind of driving I put them through they grip the road and give me a sure footed feel for the pavement, no matter what kind of surface I tackle. I do alot of hard driving on them, from high speed cornering, and hard cornering. when I feel giving into my.."spirited" driving I know these will be there to keep me from meeting the guard rail at 75MPH. they have LOOONG exceeded there tread (which seems to common most yokohama's from what I hear)and not too mention that they just look good in general. I know it's no great thing, but im partial to the appearence of my car, and these tires aren't too extreme, but don't look like cheapie-econo special tires.

Strength:

dry traction
greatly decreased hydroplaning
pretty good life considering the abuse they get

Weakness:

kinda expensive for a 17 year old kid, but thats what working summer's is for
probably better on an all wheel drive

these are very nice tires. very good dry traction, have never slid on dry pavement. Driving 80 while it was reianing cats and dogs, there was minimal hydroplaning. They are a good tire from what i have experienced. ive had them for about 12,000 miles and i just now need to rotate them

Strength:

Relatively low road noise and sure grip.

Weakness:

Could provide better lateral stability in cross winds.

Bought the Avids because of bad wet pavement performance by my original equipment Bridgestones. So far the tires have performed exceptionally well under hard driving conditions on dry and wet pavement. No off the line spin, no slippage while power curving on wet pavement, and most important to me, sure, quick, skid-free stops.

Strength:

Wet and dry grip. Ext and dry tracking ability.

Weakness:

On-centre steering stability, while better than my previous Dunlop touring tires, is still somewhat vague. Likely a vehicle design issue, I think. Price - not cheap, but much less expensive than tires rated as equals.

Compared to the Dunlop touring tires I had, these are excellent. Great dry and wet handling. I wonder, actually, at the reviews of this tire that say that they spun (180'd) their cars in the wet. What, exactly, were they doing?! These track in the wet as well as my previous tires gripped in the dry! Grip is similarly excellent! No spinning coming off the line, and my ABS, which used to kick in at nothing, hasn't been heard from since buying the H4Ss. These tires have made driving fun again. I'm an average driver (I don't push my car hard), but these tires encourage me to, and they never let me down when I do. Excellent! These tires also were far less pricy than equally rated tires.

Weakness:

None I could think of really, I kind of miss the old more street aggressive look with the straight strip down the middle but the new H4S's are supposed to grip better than the old H4's.

First thing I noticed was the smooth ride while maintaining the ability to hang corners, unsurpased traction and road holding capability to add to my performance suspension upgrades. At high speeds the ride feels very grounded. Interesting to see some people are smoking crack here or are quick to blame these Yokohamas for their driving, vehicle design or vehicle problems. I had a set of Yokohama H4's for 2.5 years, best damn tire I have ever ran, period! At 35PSI (cold) the traction was impressive, only had to balance every 15,000 miles, lasted over 40,000 miles HARD DRIVING (performance supension, sways, chassis brace, poly bushings etc.), I wore the tires past the tread markers and they still gripped great! Rain traction is great also, way better than the new BF Goodrich tires that came with the car that develped high spots, bulges and defects. Far better than more expensive Goodyears I have ran. 40,000 miles of hard driving, really hanging corners, high speed driving, 2.5 years and they are starting to finally bald! Now, I have the new H4S's that superceed this tire and they even grip a tad better, I am assuming they'll grip better in the rain due to the new jagged tread pattern in the center as opposed to the old smooth strip in the center. The new H4S's also have a 60,000 mile warranty as opposed to the 40,000 mile warranty of my previous H4's and are even supposed to have longer tread life! Maybe i'll get 3 or more years/60,000 miles out of these the new H4S's I now have, incredible! If you have a good, decently aligned car, you don't drive like an total retard, thrash the hell out of these tires or keep them over or under inflated or check the pressure incorrectly then these tires should also work very well for you!

Strength:

Good in dry

Weakness:

SUCK in wet

Wanting tires that hug the road, these tires didn't really do that. In dry conditions, I could take corners at very high speeds, but in wet conditions, it was a different story (did a 180 in the middle of the road while turning and wasn't even driving that fast!)

Strength:

handling in dry

Weakness:

treadlife, handling in rain

Very disappointed with this tire in terms of treadlife and losing grip in wet conditions. I've had them for about 8 months, rotated them at 5 months, and haven't driven much at all (less than 12 000 miles) so I was surprised to learn that they needed replacing soon. Just the other week, in light rain, my prelude slid at a slow stop at an intersection. Handling was good in dry conditions and ok in snow but it's definitely dangerous in wet conditions. Very disappointed with these tires considering the price I paid, the lack of confidence I have in them esp in the rain, and that they have such a short life. Probably never buy Yokohamas again.

NONE!

Weakness:

treadlife! I still can't believe it! see summary.

avid h4's: ABSOLUTELY ZERO TREADLIFE!!! Squishy dry handling, sub par wet handling after first 2/32 wear off (which i wouldn't expect from a tire w/ directional tread pattern specifically made to improve wet handling) ok snow. ONLY 12k miles---count em, that's only 4 oil changes worth of tires and my wife drives like a grandma! I had the car aligned as soon as i got them, rotated at 6k, and they wore evenly so don't try and attribute this to bad alignment. Maybe a lighter car w/ wider rims would get more mileage out of these. Buyer beware!!!!!!
