Strength:

"Super Poly Grip" in dry and wet. That the rim protector lip came on tire (195-55 R15). Its great if you have expensive wheels.

Weakness:

Little hard to find.

I paid 113 each at Winston Tire. I would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind paying a little more for the best.

Stock Michelins. Its like night and day. Not in the same league

Strength:

This tire has some amazing grip, in both the wet and dry. Never have been able to push it to it's limits yet. Very quiet and smooth ride (size 205/50/16) yet will audibly let you know when you're reaching it's limits.

Weakness:

Wears a bit quick and I would of liked to see some more rubber hit the ground.

I paid $155 per tire from America's Tire when they first came out when no one had them. I would recommend this for anyone who wants a great everyday tire that they will never have to worry about in the dry, rain, or whatever conditions. The only thing is that because of the tread pattern, it's not a very good autocross/track tire and will wear VERY quickly if you do bring it to the track.

Strength:

Great wet and dry performance tire. Good ride quality and little road noise, yet much improved traction over previous tires. Have yet to break them loose where previous tires would be sliding out like mad. They also have decent wear characteristics for a high performance tire(~20k miles)

Weakness:

Price and availability- they aren't particulalrly cheap, at a bit less than double the price of Bridgestone RE-71s(if you can still get them) or RE-730s.

Paid ~$125.00 each in 214/45/15 plus balance & mounting.
If you're looking for the 'ultimate' high performance tire that's not DOT race rubber, and will last 15-25k miles of hard street or autocross use, this is the one.

If you want the best possible grip on the road/track and don't mind trad life of <=10k miles, then get some R rated tires instead, but the Toyos are a great compromise and can likely handle anything most street drivers can throw at them, with a good ride and good tread life expectations, in both dry and wet pavement. If only they were a bit cheaper...

Similar Products Used:

Michelin Pilot SX-GT, Nitto Extremes. Leaps and bounds above both of them- neither the Michelin nor Nittos were very good in the rain or wet roads, and the Toyos are likely better in the wet than either of the other tires are in the DRY! Road noise is comparable to the Michelin, quiter than the Nittos.

Strength:

tires are excellent. These tires are the best tires. The grip on the road is great in rain and on a sunny day. Cornering and handling is excellent. The tread is unique and tires even have a rim guard to protect rims from scraping curbs.

Weakness:

Tires are very expensive and are hard to find. Some road noise is noticible at times.

Overall these tires are excellent. I hope they will last a long time and handle as well in a couple of years. I highly reccomend these tires to anyone who likes to take corners and likes a whole lot of grip to the pavement. Very unique tires and no manufacturer has come close to making tires like these.

None! I love these tires!

I got the 205/40/17ZR Toyo Proxes TS-1. Great grip and handling! Stick to the road great, you can really feel safe knowing "all" of the tire is on the ground. Great wet-traction, can't hydroplane! Smooth ride, and comfort of stock tires. Lots of tread so I think they will last a long time. I love the rim protection feature, dont scratch my rims anymore on curbs. Good speed rating "Z". Stable at 143mph(my top speed). My braking has even improved at soft and hard braking. Definately worth every penny.

Similar Products Used:

Nankang NS-1 205/40/17HR: these tires suck compared to the TS-1, i paid $80 each for them and it showed. Cant corner as well, doesnt ride as well, hydroplanes in puddles, wore down to ropes in just 7,000miles of normal driving! Basic and simple, nothing can compare to the Toyos.

Strength:

Smooth, quiet, "expensive" ride quality. Great in rain, hopefully can handle some snow. Look incredible, very exotic and beefy. Edge protection for rims is built in.

Weakness:

Pricy. Probably won't give long tread life. Sidewall flex makes the steering a little numb, and the turn-in a little sloppy, but nothing to cry over.

Replaced original equip Michelin XGT-V4s (got stolen) with Toyo Proxes F1-S in factory spec size. Civic Si has razor-sharp steering/cornering, straight out of the box - wanted to preserve the crisp, sporty feel of the car, regardless of cost, while getting some all-season capability. So far, the Proxes feel a little spongy. Turn-in is not as quick, and the car takes a little time to settle into a curve under decent suspension load, whereas the Michelins were instantaneously responsive. Grip is as good as the XGTs in dry, but the steering is slightly numb compared to original rubber. For dry-only driving, I'd get the Michelins any day. However, I needed the car for four seasons, so here I am.

Similar Products Used:

OEM Michelin XGT-V4s were incredibly sticky, and gave hard-wired-to-your-brain responsiveness in dry. In wet, bad for sudden breakaway, and in snow, STAY HOME. There's a reason why these Michelins are the tires the car comes with - they're the perfect match for the suspension. Anything else is a compromise, but will get you through the winter.
