Strength:

Excellent traction on wet & dry roads. No squealing in hard corners.

Weakness:

Treadwear is fairly short. About the same as other summer tires.

I'd buy these again...if they were still being made. I bought these for summer & Blizzak MZ-01s for the winter. Great combination, but don't get caught with the RE's with snow or ice on the road! I knew I shoulda checked the weather report that day! ;)

Strength:

Excellent grip on the rain or dry. It's definitely the best for the price.

Weakness:

Absolutely no snow traction what so ever on the snow, The thread wears out very quick.

I have a 1997 Honda Prelude Type SH. I drive this car daily except when it snowing because this tires don't have any traction at all on the snow. I also race my car at the track and autocrossing. I was pretty dissapointed with the factory Bridgestone Potenza RE92 tires so I replaced it with the Nitto NT-450 tires. I was still very dissappointed with the Nittos. The Nittos has a very bad traction on a wet road. Finally I bought the Bridgestone Potenza RE71 after I tried it on my friend's Acura Integra Type R. The Bridgestone Potenza RE71 is the tires I need. Excellent traction on the wet or dry and the price is very reasonable. I actually used this tires when I raced my car at Lime Rock road racing track on a rainy day. I would recommend anybody this tires if you are looking for a high performance tires but low on cash.

Weakness:

Loads ... Don't use them in the cold or rain

Using them on a 1992 Mazda RX7 twin turbo and lost the back end at 15 mph in 2nd gear only lightly accelerating in the wet. I'm not to blame for buying them cos they were on the car when I got it. Also lost the backend at 40 Mph cornering at about 3deg C road temperature !!!

Am I right in saying ONLY USE THEM IN HOT WEATHER ???

Strength:

Outstanding grip and progressive breakaway for street, auto-x, and track applications; excellent value; very good in rain

Weakness:

Poor cold weather performance; does have a bit of a drone when they wear down

I've had two sets of RE-71s and been blessed to have owned this tire. It's performance on the street, track, and autocross circuit have been simply outstanding, and it has a very predictable, progressive character that is perfect for those getting to explore the limits of their car. Not advisable for those who value tire life over tire performance or live in cold weather, however, as the compound is soft. ALSO NOTE: The RE-71 is no longer in production, as it is being replaced by the RE730, which looks to be an even better tire. I also recommend buying at www.tirerack.com - very quick to ship and some of the best prices available.

Strength:

Tires are sticky and predictable at the adhesion limit in both dry and wet. Low price.

Weakness:

Tread wear rating of 160 and they are not for snow (both characteristics of a high performance summer tire).

High performance tire at a low price. Original equipment on the Porsche 959 (a few years back)

Strength:

These baby's stick like glue. Reasonable price.

Weakness:

Hey... it's a performance tire. Of coarse it's gonna wear out faster.

Great tire for the money. Have these on my 71 RS Camaro with a ZZ502 big block so I don't really hear tire noise. Even with 275/40/17" tires on the rear I can still light em up at 60mph. But what would you expect withover 600 lbs of torque?
I recommend these tires for anyone wanting great traction on a lower budget.

Model Reviewed: '95 Legacy LSi Wagon (AWD-AT)

Strength:

Excellent wet and dry traction. They look good on my car. Great balance, excellent ride.

Weakness:

Treadwear (but hey, it's a performance tire). Noisy (like blowing over the top of a pop bottle) after about 37% tread loss at speeds exceeding 35MPH-- they weren't as noisy earlier in the game.

Not a bad performance tire, I don't exactly whip the Legacy around like a bat out of hell but I haven't been able to make it lose traction yet. These tires do NOT aquaplane, ever. Great tire for $75 a whack at the Tire Rack. Note the tread is directional-- don't buy 'em if your alignment is in bad shape and you need to do side-to-side rotations. Knocked off 37.5% of the usable tread in 5000 miles of mostly city driving. Oh yeah... don't even *think* about these in the snow. AWD works wonders but not miracles. :)

Strength:

Great balance and they really stick, makes the car real hard to drift on pavement....which is a good thing. Great for high speed crooozin' on pavement.

Weakness:

Occasional loss of traction (fronts)in the rain on low speed long fairly sharp corners. For the tread size they suck on gravel....throw alota rocks but really float... no-biggie.

For the price they are a great tire ... sticky fun with predictable wear. I would recomend them to anyone who has AWD +/- the turbo ... esp. 'cause we end up wearing out 4 tires at a time...

Strength:

Great grip & response. Sticks to the road like glue.
Turns a car into super-car!

Weakness:

Hums a bit at speeds above 35mph when new.
Gobbled up a 4-set in 10,000 miles, but then again, I do toss
my car around corners like a mad man sometimes.

$88 / tire.
Great bargin, runs great, does the trick if you want Z rated tires
cheap that'll improve performance across the board for your car.
I'm getting another set despite the prior wearing through in 10K
miles (but I know I did it to the tires ;).

Model Reviewed: 1995 Toyota Supra MKIV Turbo

Strength:

Comfortable ride, very sticky especially in the rain. Sometimes I have more confidence in the rain. I find them to be quiet and smooth.

Weakness:

Not very extreme looking tires

These are an adequate tire. On my Supra I will use more expensive tires next time. For a better look and feel. A note to potential buyers of any tires, installation is almost more important than the tires. The right install may make all the difference. I would recommend these tires to anyone on a budget.
