Strength:
Good handling in dry, safe in wet.
Weakness:
Fast wear I have returned to these tires after a few years with the GS-C's, which were great tires, but wore out even faster than the RE71's. I really can't tell the difference between the two in most driving conditions. The Goodyears probably offered higher ultimate cornering power, but they also seemed to be a little more twitchy at the limit. I usually get between 20K and 30K miles out of the RE71's. I think the RE71 is a great high performance tire for those of us who can't afford the latest and greatest tire technology. Similar Products Used: Goodyear GS-C, Pirelli P7 |

Strength:
Sticky, Good for Track and Street, Cheap at $85
Weakness:
Loud, Wear Fast - Especially with Hard Driving (as with any tire that's good :) ) In regard to the first review, the technology is dated (a newer design is in Japan) but they are still very good tires. I have had them for three months. The treadwear is not great (1-1 1/2 years of tread at most,) but these are semi-soft compound, high performance tires. They are great in the rain and dry; but remember - they are "Summer Tires - NO SNOW or temperatures below freezing." I use the tires for the street and track on my Integra GS-R. This tire has to be one of the best for both environments. For my driving, these tires add an additional level of safety that is easily worth the price! I look at these tires as a cheap form of insurance. If you want tires that last a long time and are quiet, get the BF Goodrich Radial T/A. It's a good compromise for moderate driving, but get the RE-71 if you want the best balance of performance and price. Similar Products Used: These are the best performance tires I've used, so far. |

Strength:
Good performance for the money.
Weakness:
Unpredictable in the rain. Wore out in 14,000 mi. Good for autocrossing, since it's cheap you won't mind tearing them up. If you don't mind paying more, try the newer tires. Similar Products Used: Dunlop SP 8000 |

Strength:
Sticky
Weakness:
Wear out fast Put a set of these on my '85 Mustang along with some other suspension mods to make the car handle. They work very well, very sticky. However, I loaned the car to a relative for a few months and in 6000 miles he drove off 60% of the tread. Granted he drives extreemly hard, but that's just too much wear for a street tire. My understanding is that the technology in these tires is a bit dated as well. |
