2000 Suburban AND 1999 Tahoe both 4X4's
Strength:
Great Looking Tire. Fairly aggressive tread. Their was absolutely no difference in the noise or ride when I replaced the Original Equipment tires on my 2000 Suburban. I've got the factory computerized suspension system on the Suburban. I don't recall what the O.E. tire brand was, because I negotiated my purchase price without wheels and tires. So I only drove on the O.E. tires from the dealership to the tire shop.
Weakness:
Weaknesses on 2000 Suburban - NONE! On my wifes 1999 Tahoe, I'm getting rid of them. These are the tires she wanted on her vehicle. But after a year, she said to either find a way to smooth out the ride or find her another vehicle. I noticed a significant difference in the ride of the Tahoe within 1/4 mile of the tire shop? It really is awful. I think I'm going to try the B.F.Goodrich Trail T/A's on her car. (Similar RWL). But I can't get the 285LT-75-R16's I want. If you have a new 2000-1 Suburban 4X4, (with computerized suspension?), go for it. If you have a Pre-2000 Tahoe 4X4, first go by the sporting goods store and buy you a rubber mouth guard and be sure your dental insurance is paid up. Similar Products Used: None |

Traction in all weather, price, longevity, and looks
Weakness:
None I am on my third set of BFGoodrich Radial All-Terrain T/As (now w/o the Radial in the name.) The first set I got about 40,000 miles out of them; good traction until about 39,000 miles. The second set got about 45,000 milles out of them and during one snow storm (36") I slid off the road while travelling forward and hit a very larger rock that took a small chunk out of both my rims on the driver's side and the tires did not sustain any damage [tri-guard side wall] (the tires w/45,000 on them.) If it would have been any other tire they would not have escaped with out damage. Similar Products Used: Goodyear Invecta GS - recalled shortly after purchaced vehicle. |

Strength:
Great in snow and rain (31-10.50R15). Excellent handling around corners, they hold really well. Coupled with stiff suspension these tires will corner with the best of them. Off road they are untouchable (I don't go mudding). They have excellent traction in medium mud and fairly deep snow (once you start dragging bottom you had better strat rethinking your situation). My Ranger doesn't have great clearance, so a foot of snow on pavement is about my limit. The tires will get you out of anything up to that point.
Weakness:
Have about 45,000 miles on these and they are worn. Had several problems with traction last spring so I'm going to replace them soon with the same tires. I highly recommend these tires. They are a bit expensive but when you need to rely (peace of mind) on your tires in all conditions, on and off road, can you afford not to have great tires? Similar Products Used: Firestone Radial ATX (265/75/R15). I got stuck in my level driveway in 6" of snow (absolutely know traction). Firestone Wilderness AT (255/70R16 on my 95 Explorer) A little worn, the worst handling tire I have every had in the rain. Tends to hydroplane (something my BFG AT T/A's never have done). Would you buy a vehicle with Firestones? |

Strength:
I love these tires!!! You wouldn't imagine how much more traction you get off-road with these compared to a street tire. From what I hear you get pretty good mileage on the road, also.
Weakness:
It would be more fun to have some mud terrains, but if you're like me and don't like to rotate your tires more than necessary, this is a great tire. If you want an on-road/off-road tire, this is the one to get. They run about 90 a piece. Don't pay more than 100 a tire. If you get black letters out, they look bigger. Very strong side walls. 3-ply to be exact. as conpared to the 2-ply others have. Reasonable price. I pated 135/tire. It sounds steep, but I got the 325/60/15. yes thats 325=Very FAT tires
Weakness:
NONE These are the ultimate tire for off-road/on-road combination. so far never got stuck in any mud/snow. These are the tires to get for any SUV period! Similar Products Used: GoodYear wranglers |

BF Goodrich AT
Strength:
Reasonable road noise coupled with strong performance on-road (where most people are going to use them).
Weakness:
None thus far. (Only used for a month) Thus far, the tires have provided excellant performance in all on road apps (e.g. heavy rain, worn highways, etc.) in terms of feel and road noise. Haven't taken them off road yet, but give a feeling of confidence in handling. Similar Products Used: Firestone Wilderness |

good off road. not too noisy. good wear.
Weakness:
not too good in snow when worn a bit, but that's what separate winter tires are for these bfg's are far superior to the michelin a/t's. the ride is about the same, they make a bit more noise than the michelin's but they are not as good in my opinion. the michelins have no grip off road when compared to the bfg a/t. the bfg is a better tire for the money. funny thing though, that michelin makes bfg. Strength:
Good off-road traction, quiet on the highway, good-looking tires. Triple sidewall has saved me more than one blowout on the trail.
Weakness:
They wear out really fast (20-25K miles). They're good for off-road, but if you only go off road occasionally, the Michelin All Terrain tires have almost the same traction off road, but last twice as long overall. My dad has a set of 33's going on 37,000 miles and still looking good. Similar Products Used: Prospector AP. Weak tire, weak tread, blew one off road on a rock. No traction. |

very good all around tire. not too noisy on the road for an A/T tire, good in the mud and sand. extra ply sidewalls are a plus.
Weakness:
if you are a serious off roader, u might as well go with a more aggressive tread. but for the part time off roader its a great buy. about $500 for tires, mounting, balancing, and warrenty. you can buy a cheaper tire, but then you'd hafta drive it. Similar Products Used: goodyear wrangler H/T |

Strength:
It's a great off road tire. I especialy like the performance on dirt roads, in loose gravel or sand and snow. They're very tough, especialy the side walls.
Weakness:
They're a little noisey on the highway, but not as bad as a mud tire. If you happen to spin the rear of your truck in the snow they don't hook up very well when you let off the gas. I would recomend this tire to anyone who wants on and off road performance from their tire. These tires will give you confidence off road yet won't comprimise street performance. Similar Products Used: BFG Radial Long Trail T/A. The All-Terrain gives me more confidence off the paved roads then the Long Trail. The only advabtages of the Long Trail are that they are quiter on the highway and they hook up a little better in the snow when the rear end gets squirley. |
