Strength:
Smoother drive at highway speeds. Faster starts. Improved MPG.
Weakness:
Cost to much for what it delivers. All the mentioned strengths had very little positive gains. Very easy to install. Instructions come with Honda/Acura installation instructions, every other car model has to figure out the basic installation for there cars. Similar Products Used: The comments are based on using MSD-SCI, MSD Blaster SS, MSD 8.5 wires, and distributor cap modified with MSD Power Tower. |

Strength:
It stopped flooding of my engine since it burns all the gas away. Didn't feel other difference though. Noticed a few more miles per full tank.
Weakness:
Car does not push start anymore. When u touch your spark plug wires, becareful since it might shock you. Buzzing sound comes from discharge module (mounted under driver seat). Overall, i think that this product is great for turbocharged vehicles. The whole purpose of the MSD is to increase the spark to burn off the extra fuel added in the combustion chambers. Obviously it is useless if you haven't done any serious upgrades to your engine to increase the fuel delivery. Similar Products Used: None |

Looks good.
Weakness:
Off road unit quit working after less than 18 months. MSD factory tried to sell me another but refused. Had same problem several years ago with 6A unit on 86 chev. When unit on truck died had to call a wrecker to get me off the street as was pulling large trailer. MSD wouldn't pick up that tab when asked. Not worth the cost. Not reliable. Does not really improve anything if you have a good ignition system on vehicle already. Spend your money on other items ie; good intake filter, exhaust system etc. Similar Products Used: Crane unit back on truck and works as good or better than MSD. At least this one is still working after more than 8 years use. (Unit was on 89 truck and then reinstalled on 97 after MSD unit died.) |

Came complete and I did not need any other parts to make it work.
Weakness:
Manual was more directed towards domestics. Not very import frienly,I had problems finding space to mount IG box. I perchased MSD 6a box , blaster 2 import coil and ACCEL wires as complete IG upgrade , i hve had a lot of starting problems, (long duration crancking )Especially when cold. All this maybe becuase of shorter intake pipe between hot wire MAS air flow meter and throttle body .But i understand that this is a performance upgrade and any drift from OEM can alter driverbility , Overall though it was worth the money since I will be going turbo. I don't really recommend this product for small imports unless these cars are highly modified ( turbo/nitrous/head work ect.)I would only recomend this product for the larger displacement crowd and anyone looking for a little more MPG and pep. Similar Products Used: Wittnessed it used in domestic big blocks ,(mustang, dodge, and DRAG cars). |

Installed MSD6a and blaster coil used for 100,000 mi and verified performance by bypassing MSD Box three times.
Weakness:
Large size can be difficult to mount. A Well engineered and constructed system. I love what it did for the BMW and would definitely recommend it. Similar Products Used: None |

solved alot of idling problems and MPG went way up. (I ws running 18 MPG in city and went to 28 MPG) best now is 32 mpg on highway cruise. I also dynoed before and after and can verify 3-5 HP across the board and 7-9 HP from 5500 RPM to 6400 RPM redline.
Weakness:
trying to find a place to mount it. $360 but that could be cheaper if you shop around. I bought it with a pre-made wiring harness which made installation a snap. I would NOT recommend if all you have is a header, intake and exhaust as I think you will be disappointed with results like the people above. Now if you plan on motor work (like I have done) or NOS or turbo/supercharger then it is a must. Similar Products Used: stock whic is fine until you have a ported and polished head, cat bgack and high flow cat and overbored TB and CAI and then resetting computer which means it gives to much fuel at idle which does not get burnt righ and that is why I think I saw so much HP and MPG improvement |

Strength:
MSD-5A. Compact size, relatively easy installation with optional cable for my '92 Ford Bronco; cured occasional pinging problem (couldn't cure originally, even with premium fuel)
Weakness:
Died after a few years use; truck started failing while driving; plugged original ignition back in, bypassing MSD, & truck runs fine; didn't see ANY mileage or power increase (like magazines claim) Paid approx. $300Cdn for this unit. Didn't realize I could buy it for MUCH less via mail order. Didn't like that it died after only a few years, & haven't looked @ replacing it 'cause of the expense. Similar Products Used: None |

Unit looks good
Weakness:
Instructions were VERY vague and misleading. If you dont know anything about ignitions (like me) you are going to spend the weekend installing this thing. The instructions are written for seasoned mechanics, they assume you already know what you are doing. I paid $185.00 + shipping from jegs.com. I guess the price is OK for what you get, not a big power increase at all. They need to work on the documentation a lot, though. They give you directions for basically ALL Hondas with only 1 illustration. I would recommend buying this mod LAST...spend the money on a header, intake, exhaust, cam, supercharger, etc...You wont notice this upgrade much, in fact I have almost forgotten it was in there. The only reminder is that wasted Saturday and Sunday it took me to install it. Similar Products Used: Crane Fireball, Neuspeed, Accell |

Strength:
Noticeably quicker throttle response, smog legal in all states, easy to connect, can be integrated with future upgrades.
Weakness:
None. Installation was simple, other than finding a place to mount the unit(I finally found a space under the battery tray on the fender well for a homemade mounting plate). Diagrams easy to follow, integrates with stock tachometer, and noticeable performance improvement. An excellent upgrade. |
