Company is attempting murder on me by trying to burn my home down completely by using faulty wiring to fix my home in my laundry room and my GIF plugs in kitchen no longer work. From: Howardslabradors@aol.com [Add to Address Book] Flag Message | Mark Unread [This is spam] To: info@epodunk.com Cc: jeb.bush@myflorida.com, howardslabradors@earthlink.net Subject: Corrections(Place ID = 8886) Date: Nov 13, 2005 12:39 AM I am trying desperately to get a LETTER to the Editor in the St Augustine Record. My home was left in a mess from a fire. USAA insurance further destroyed and stole things from me by the contractors DR WOODS that worked for USAA. I have tried to get my home fixed since 2004 apr 22nd. USAA has not cooperated but again has sent bad electricians or ones that were sent to hurt me further as USAA insurance abused my home and its content. I lost many things. They are a bad insurance co when you have a fire. They lie and steal. I went to the county commissioner as the county inspectors for the electrical gave it a CO and the light fixture in my laundry room sparks an arc and has voltage coming out of it. Because I complained on USAA they are attempting to burn my home down and abuse me. They have not done what they said they would do and hurt me continually. I am contacting Jeb Bush and the insurance commission. I do not want my home to burn again. I am contacting the fire inspector too. This is wrong. Strength:
Customer service is usually excellent. Claims taken care of quickly and conveniently.
Weakness:
High percentage increases for at-fault accidents. I've had USAA auto insurance since 1995. I've had several claims with them. Some were my fault, others weren't. Customer service was fine and claims were always processed with them promptly. They do raise rates a lot if you've had an at-fault claim (89% increase because of a $1500 fender bender), but the large discount for having prior insurance with them helps take the sting out of that and the increase only lasts for 3 years. The smaller dividend check is nice too. My parents (who have been with USAA since the 70s) also enjoy a steep discount for having excellent driving records. My only real problem was when I was rear-ended in 96 and had to get a lawyer because they wouldn't pay out my PIP and didn't want to go after the other company for the $20,000 in medical bills-- but I don't know if any other company would have been better. As much as I don't like lawyers, it ended up being nice having someone ELSE handle the paperwork so I could concentrate on getting better. Also, don't make comprehensive claims unless you can't afford to have it fixed yourself-- the rate increase will leave you paying MUCH more than if you had paid it out of pocket. But as someone else said, insurance companies are not your friends. Insurance is to cover you against big losses; it's not a savings account for you to get back the money you paid. Well trained monotone voiced Reps that are professionally rude.
Weakness:
A little to big for their britches. Any non-recorded phone conversation can be denied. Document everything in writing!! Car crash with USAA client.USAA client at fault, no stop at sign. USAA Reps very nice on phone but do not pay off claim as required. If you are involved be sure to document in writing. USAA Reps have very limited memory of promises made on phone. Consider immediate contact of Attorney to represent. You will eventually need any way to settle with USAA. May as well hire in the beginning to save you the vacation time and hoop jumping that USAA will require. Think that USAA enjoys watching you perform like a little circus dog. If you choose to try and reason with Reps, well good luck. Gas is only $3 per gallon and they love to see you spend your money. |

None. Today I changed my homeowners to State Farm for $189 more per year, and my 6 cars for the same rate as USAA
Weakness:
No local reps, completely dysfunctional claims dept, lied to my sister about mp3 player not being household item USAA auto since 1963, homeowners since '77. Never had to deal with claims dept. until moving to lake and encountering strong driving rainstorm in May. Didn't seem serious at first, blew metal case cover off top of chimney and shingles off roof of dock. But when workers started work on chimney, found that huge amount of water had gone into wooden framework and sheetrock (hollow chimney with rock veneer). Also discovered dock roof had been blown to precarious angle. Called USAA and was told to stop work immediately, even though the siding and sheetrock had been removed from the living wall adjacent to the chimney. USAA said they would pay for damaged structural supports, but wanted everything open for inspection. A case manager said an adjuster would call within 48 hours. The workers continued repairs after I took photos because it was still storm season, but saved all demolition material. The adjuster had not called after several days, so I called the case manager. He was disgusted that I had not been contacted and assured me I soon would be. Two days later I finally heard from an adjuster in Atlanta, 65 miles away, and he drove out. My contractor was still here and explained the photos and demolition materials. The adjuster had no problem assesing the situation. He took photos of the dock roof and angle of lean. The adjuster said it usually took two weeks for USAA to process a claim, so I figured I wouldn't hold my breath. The chimney was finished for $8,500. I didn't replace the rock veneer above the fireplace mantle because it would have been another $3,200 (17' ceiling). It wasn't safe walking on the dock to get to the boat, so I had the roof and supports rebuilt and upgraded for $2,700. After 5 weeks, I figured it was time for USAA to explain themselves. My case manager was on vacation, so I left a voicemail with another manager who could access his accounts. A day later he called me and said the chimney claim had been denied because there were cracks in the rock casing that had let water in over a long period. That was probably true, but the sheetrock had never shown signs of dampness before. The claim for the dock had been lost. He would have the adjuster call me. The same adjuster called me the next day. He was sorry, but after he submitted the claim package to USAA he deleted the photos. Did I have any? All I had were some of the contractor tearing down the old dock roof. He said he would take them and submit them to USAA. It has been four weeks. I am not even going to bother to call. Similar Products Used: Allstate, Amica, State Farm |

Slow, disorganized, lack of communication between dept's., Do not return phone calls. I have had USAA for over 20 years for both my homes and autos. My truck caught fire in my driveway 2 wks ago. A total loss. Calls are not returned and the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing on their end. They don't return phone calls. They did not request a copy of the fire report and told me that it would take another two weeks to get one. I faxed it to them that day. My vehicle has been towed 3 hours away and the Investigator is 5 hours away. I have been told it could take another 30 days and that I need to procure other transportation for myself. There is no Quality Assurance Department to contact and no help for me. I am a victim with no advocate. After reading some of these reviews I am even less hopeful that this will ever be resolved. disorganized , unresponsive , long delay for response and still waiting for payout I have been waiting for a pay out from USAA insuracne for a month.I was struck by a USAA insured and car was totaled. I have made a dozen phone calls on the claim and almost never get calls answered. Thus far the experience has been one of a disroganized , and unresponsive company with no regard to date for my loss. I was told to go to my insuracne and file a claim for a rental car while USAA sorted out my claim. My totaled car was towed away 2 weeks ago. Today I call againto find out that the person handling my claim is no longer with the company? and the " check is in the mail "? Similar Products Used: AllState insurance has always been great |

Good effort at first with rental car but starting cutting cornors when the total repairs came close to the value of the car.
Weakness:
Poor customer contact, would not return phone calls. Made decisions based on the word of the repair shop only I had an accident with a person insured with USAA Insurance. They fixed my car to a point and returned it to me. There were several problems that they have refused to even look at. No representive of USAA has ever even seen my car. They depended only on the repair shop. I would never buy insurance with USAA or have my car repaired Nacon Collision of Hinesville, Ga. |

Strength:
Totalled Auto claim paid out to my expectations. Generally satisfactory service. Fair pricing.
Weakness:
a few communication glitches about the timeline for adjusting my claim, but follow up compensated for initial missteps. I was in an accident with another USAA member a few weeks ago. Other driver was at fault in a t-bone accident. Initially I was very concerned about getting a good value for a high mileage Honda that I had maintained in excellent condition since purhasing 4 years ago- recent timing belt, new tires, new cat converter and tune up-- hoping to run to well over 200k and keep for 4-6 more years. The initial service was spotty- associates were unsure if adjuster was assigned after 7 business days, then a few hours later I received a call and the adjuster had a few questions ( he had just visited salvage yard). Next day settlement occured- total elapsed time 9 business days from accident. Bottom line was USAA paid out my target value within a couple hundred dollars: well above any dealer trade-in and approx 2k above what I could get for the car were I to sell it private sale. Subsequently, I spoke to the responsible party and he was compensated to his expectations. I was fortunate the other driver was a first class individual as well as being a USAA member. We both handled the accident as what it was- an accident with no ill will and as resposible adults. We left the accident scene with 2 totalled vehicles and quite fortunately no injuries(but I still received plenty of solicitations from the Ambulance Chasers!) Im a 20 year USAA member, one minor at fault accident 10 years ago, a handful of tickets 15-20 years ago and satisfied with my first experience in a major accident. USAA met my expectations and I didn't get any hassle on the claim. |

Strength:
Good rates, great service, generous adjustors (in my limited experience). Great reputation.
Weakness:
May be harsh when raising your premiums in response to accidents. Customer support reps, though helpful, have little actual power of their own. I covered by my father's USAA policy when I was in an accident that resulted in my car being totaled. Though it was an accident, the layout of the intersection was such that the liability fell on me. USAA offered a generous amount for the car, and even adjusted upward substantially when my dad and I produced maintenance records showing that the car had been well maintained. I now have my own account with USAA. The price I am being charged is not terribly good (GEICO is cheaper), but on the other hand I am a 24 year old male who totaled a car less than a year ago. Even GEICO charges more than $100 a month in my situation (and location). In the long run, I want to stay with USAA -- their service is great, and the rates they quote for people over 25 are very competitive. That said, I may switch to GEICO for 6 months or so until I turn 25. USAA is a great insurance company, but they are very picky about who they insure. If your traffic ticket and credit records are anything less than spotless, you may want to look elsewhere. |

Not what the good ole "USA" used to be about! Honesty, fairness In July 2004 a USAA Insurance client was cited for pulling out from a stop sign into the path of my wife's car. Our car was totaled. Nicest and most expensive car we ever owned.Thank goodness it was paid for, because USAA doesn't give you what the car should be worth. After months of haggeling and getting an attorney we finally out of desperation settled for what we think is thousands of dollars less than what it would really have cost to replace. Just got check in Feb. 2005. Six months?I am going to write all government agency's I can get in touch with! Class action suit would be good! |
