On May 13th (A Saturday) I had the misfortune of being hit in the front bumper by an insured of Mercury Insurance. The other driver admitted it was her fault at the scene. I obtained her Insurance Information, and called her Agent, or so I thought, the following Monday. Turns out, it was a broker, that only sells insurance, but doesn’t handle claims. I obtained Mercury’s phone number from them, and called the home office of Mercury Insurance.

Mercury is very good at getting u the lest possibl mony for ur suffered and losses in an accident and have been trying to reach Mercury for 6 mounths i get one call back if im lucky after sending them letters and calling them tow time a day for a mouth....

My 17 year old son Sam had an accident on February 19, 2006 which totaled his car - thankfully no injuries. I got a check for his car and a revised insurance bill within 1 month after the accident. Mercury made a truly horrible experience in my life so much easier. It was a pleasure dealing with everyone from the claims dept. to the collision dept. They were always pleasant, extremely informative, and very professional. I will definitely keep Mercury for my car insurance, and will be switching my house insurance to them as well. It is a pleasure dealing with people who really do make a difference! |

Weakness:
Mercury's insured made illegal left turn and caused accident. Mercury refuses to reimburse me. Mercury is committing fraud by: (1) constantly making up and changing stories re how they think accident happened with no basis in the facts or inspections; (2) I agreed to let them do their own inspection, which I saw written up, signed by inspector, and was promised a copy but they still refuse to give to me; (3) now they alternately say there is no inspection report, or that there is one but because trying to put it onto someone's computer caused a computer crash, they can't "get" it now (even though fax, mail, email, or picking it up would be logical alternative options), they refuse to re-enter and re-send info via their own software, and they refuse to respond to my questions re why can't they just fax or mail it; (4) they now demand I go get yet another inspection at a different facility, even though they already got an inspection report and photos; (5) I've been the one to have to demand any action on their part, they don't do their job, didn't return phone calls, and didn't even return calls from their own inspection company. I confirmed with inspection company that they wrote an inspection report and took photos and have these materials and Mercury is nonresponsive. Clearly the inspection report supports my side and Mercury is just playing games. Mercury is HORRIBLE and I investigated their executives who are known for being frauds and criminals. Don't put yourself at risk by using Mercury as your insurance company, because you won't be covered when you need it. I now have to sue their insured for the money since his insurance company won't pay - so he'll have to pay me directly for something his insurance company is supposed to pay on his behalf. If he can't afford to pay I'll have to have his license suspended until he does. Don't like having to do that, but Mercury is ripping us both off. Mercury Insurance Fraud |

Most corruptive. unethical, synonim of shame, incompetence, no morality to reap off, and to accuse inocents indescriminately.

None, very powerful in the game of "How much to play" I was directly impacted in the accident on left side, my signal light was green at intersection. After 5 months of investigation, mercury now states that I am the one who ran the red light and caused the collision. I called mercury immediately, the adjuster of the other party is also with mercury. I question her and told her that her determination was entirely baseless. It is being very painful to go deep in this horrendous ordeal, that trauma of a reckeles driver that could have killed me, loss of wages, secondary effect in your family, loss of car, tranportation to the doctors do be treated for the trauma of the accident, calls threating you to report you to collection for the medical bills, and as if this is not enough, more insult to my nightmare and pain; mercury has the nerve and the abuse to let the other driver get away and blame it on me! This has no name, what a crime. I am finding out that I am not isolated case.I am disputing this baseless determination and I will fight this injustice till the end because I will not swallow this corrupted pill. I am pending to file with the California Insurance Department. Someone might asked , why I waited all this time, well, the attorney dropped my case, immediately, when he received the letter from mercury. So, when I received a letter from my attorney, stating that he was droping my case, along with it was the determination letter from mercury. My guess is that maybe the attorney was affraid of mercury or maybe he is a friend of George Joseph.

lure people in with cheap price. Bill them extra later with whatever the reason they can come up with.

they are a scam company. They are not honest. I have Mercury Insurance coverage for my car for the 1st time. I paid full amount for 1 year coverage. I sign the paper with my agent. Mercury representative call me to double check what I have told is true like how many car at my address, and who is driving what car etc.. So everything was fine for 10 months, until I receive a bill for $ 74.00 . The letter didn't tell me what the bill is all about except that this is a reminder of my prior bill. Balance is due . I was surprise so I call my agent . He called Mercury. When he get back to me, he told me to that the computer say that my car is measure at different weigh class, so now it would cost more. I said why didn't you tell me when I first sign the paper on our agreement ? My agent say this is the first senario that he has never saw bfore. He told me just paid them, and he try to fix it next time and I would get better price. I told him this is wrong. How can a company like Mercury could do this to their client? If the computer is wrong then it is not my fault. I sign the paper fair and square, if it is more than $74.00 then I would hunt for a different company at that time. I would think it over. How can a company change the price after 10 months and come up with a reason that the car is in different weigh class . I told my agent that Mercury could come up with whatever the reason they can come up with. HOw can this be avoid in the future ? They could say my disc brake is too small so it would cost more. Anyway, I didn't paid their bill now I have received the letter again and they theaten to terminate in a few days if I don't paid $74.00 plus late payment charge of $5.00 . Does this make sense to you at all? I have read some of the complain from this webpage and I think that even I paid them, who know what might waiting for me in the future with this company. |

Preditory claim practices I purchased a collectable vehicle from a private party for over 15K. I had the car for 20 minutes and was involved in an accident on my way home with the vehicle. Mercury Ins. was my only car insurance company at the time of the accident. Over 9 months later Mercury (my own company) still refuses to cover any costs. They claim they still have not denied the claim. They cite that policy holders have no coverage when they purchase a vehicle if all vehicles you own (including inoperable) are not listed on the policy. I sustained severe injuries from the accident and required surgery to repair broken bones and my vehicle is a total loss. where do I start.... In all my years of driving Mercury Ins. has to be the worst I have ever had. I was rear ended almost 3 years ago by a person with no ins., I was injured and am now disabled. none. The low rates are useless if the don't actually provide any insurance.

Too many to list. The company should be shut down and the claims department should be put in jail for fraud. Avoid like the plague. Mecury Insurance is the worst inusrance company ever. I'm surprised a class action lawsuit hasn't been made against this company yet. An accident on the freeway caused the entire freeway to come to a complete stop. Unfortunately, the idiot behind me driving a large commercial van didn' stop and rear ended me and forced me into the car in front of me. Regardless of the fact I was at a complete stop and I have a witness the backing of the police, the van's insurance, murcury, insisted I was 50% at fault. Unfortunately, since I forgot to send in the check to my insurance two weeks prior, I was technically uninsured. Even with this, California state law mandates the fault of an accident is always the moving vehicle if one party is at a complete stop. Even with witnesses, police, and state law behind me, Mecury insurance incredibally offered me a check for 1/4 of the actual damages. I eventually had to sue in court just to get me the proper amount on the check. The judge presiding actually chastised Murcery rep. for wasting her time. Durring this whole ordeal, I did quite a bit of research and learned how Murcury stays so profitable. They appearantly have a history of not paying uninsured motorists to save money. The logic is that most uninsured motorists are poor and have difficulty fighting them in court or are too ignorant how to get the claim owed to them, saving the company millions of dollars. I was one of the rare cases in which I had the spare money, time, education, and inclination to fight back. Unfortunately, most uninsured motorists end up getting short changed by Murcery. If, you are an uninsured motorist and was a victim of a Murcery insured driver and can't afford to take to court, then at least sue the driver in small claims court. Its cheap, quick, and made to help out the little guy against large players like Murcury. Murcury insurance is by far the worst insurance company I've every dealt with. If any lawyer out there is thinking of filing a class action against Murcery, you can expect a lot of support from all the people the screwed over and ready to join the lawsuit.
