Many other insurance companies- Farmers, Nationwide, Geico, etc. Farmers was arguably the worst of them all- decent prices but I am STILL awaiting claim information/resolution on an accident from 4 YEARS ago. nationaide was grossly overpriced(almost double for same coverage). I'd gotten a quote from Geico, which at the time seemed reasonable, but Liberty Mutual beat it by about 25% for identical coverage.

I currently pay ~$1400/yr for 500 deduct broadform, 0 deduct comprehensive, $30/day rental on a Grand Prix GTP sports sedan.

I have been with Liberty Mutual for close to 10 years. I have filed quite a few claims with them. In all but one, the car was parked when the damage was done. The moving incident involved paint from the road being splashed onto the car (comprehensive claim).

In every case, after calling the 800 claims number, I was greeted either immediately or within a few minutes, by a courteous claims rep. They would arrange, if necessary, a claims adjuster appointment to occur within one week. The checks were always on time and for the amount agreed upon.

One potential downside, however, is that their claim adjustments quote aftermarket (non-OEM) parts for cost savings. Being a savvy consumer, I deal with shops that will go to bat for me and get OEM parts (with reimbursement from Liberty Mutual) if I deem the particular part important. In every case, Liberty Mutual did grant an exception for the better parts and cut a check accordingly.

I give them a 4 star rating in value since they are the cheapest insurance around. However, I give them 5 stars for excellent customer service (something I'm willing to pay a little extra for).

The only reason I got it in the first place was the convenience of automatic check deductions through my place of business.

Absolutely terrible service!! Still involved in this case, and after getting into an accident 2 weeks ago, they have still not appraised the car and keep giving me excuses as to why they havent (staff shortage, cant find your name, and the latest...we dont have you down for collision). Give me a break. Not to mention that the person who is supposed to be handling my claim is never at her desk, and I have never actually spoken with her!!

If you have a choice, don't bother. Not only are they expensive, but they have no idea what "Customer Service" means.

accident. I have to say that this is the best insurance

no customer service, I had to leave a message every day or call back (because they will not). takes forever for payout to come through.

The worst experience ever. They virtually have no "customer service". Besides, g-d forbid you ever have an accident. They dont pay for anything and run investigations lasting for weeks rather then pay for what they should.
