Strength:

Price seems to be low compared to other kits on the market but in the end the cost of rebuilds more than exceeds the cost of a better engineered kit.

Weakness:

Lower boost levels compared to other kits. Doesn't come with a bypass valve with 9lb pulley. They advertise silence but you can hear the blower!
The factory keeps a lid on product distribution so you just can't call up a retailer and get one set the next day...they have to build it for you...ridiculous. It took three weeks to get my supercharger.

Not a good warranty compared to Vortech's 3 year.

Poor resale. Check out the mustang website and message boards or ebay for that matter...it seems people take a loss trying to unload these short life bearing blowers.

You can simply buy a better engineered kit when you consider that you will most likely have to get your supercharger rebuilt if you put on smaller pulleys. Other manufacturers have better quality kits which create more boost and longer warranty periods. Belt slippage is a problem as well as the threads on the head unit. I've stripped some out just installing it the first time. Also part of the pulley tensioner did not line up so I had to grind some metal off so it would fit.

Powerdyne's historical advertising was silent drive and an emphasis on the internal belt. It seems they wised up and are producing a gear driver unit because they couldn't get the cermanic bearings to last.

Strength:

Price, due to being on a budget. Ease of installation. Quiet operation.

Weakness:

Belt slippage due to defective pulley. Several bolts and screws missing from the kit.

I have finally gotten all the minor problems worked out with the belt slipping. Works 4.0 right now. With only 6psi mixed with my combo, I made 391rwhp and 377rwtq (SAE corrected). So the blower makes good power but haven't had it long enough to determine whether it will last. Overall, not bad for a budget supercharger.

LET SEE HOW MANY CAN I NAME WITHOUT GETTING PISSED FIRST IT DOSENT PRODUCE BOOST LIKE THEY CLAIM. BEARINGS WEAR OUT RUNS TOOOO HOT. THE BELT SLIPS NO MATTER HOW TIGHT IT IS. NEVER SEEN 9PSI WITH A 11 PSI PULLEY LUCKY TO GET 6 ON A STOCK SETUP

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WAS DOING WHEN I DECIDED TO GO WITH A BLOWER WITH THIS POOR PERFOEMANCE. WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THEY CAME OUT WITH A GEAR DRIVEN SUPERCHARGER NOW????? HOPFULLY IT WILL BE A BETTER PRODUCT

Strength:

Easy to install, good price for the power, and the overall quality.

Weakness:

The adjusting pully didn't line up correctly and threw the belt/ground it up. When the temperature is cool it makes unbeleivable power for a 6psi kit but once it gets warm out, usually just during the daytime, sometimes you can't feel the power because there is no intercooler or aftercooler.

For the price you can't beat the power. Once I put a shim behind the tensioner I havn't had any problems with the belt. I check the tension on the belt when I check the oil and if it is loose it only takes a minute to snug it up. I am disapointed with the performance when it is hot out but have yet to contact powerdyne to see what they can do about it.

Great street kit, best for daily driver/weekend warrior. Good low to mid range power.

Weakness:

The dreaded supercharger tuning that comes with the added power. Also had to spend extra cash for by-pass valve, little odds and ends that should have came with the kit to begin with. Had to rebuild the motor after blown head gaskets with 9 lb kit on stock motor.

With GT40 heads/ Cobra intake/ Crane supercharger cam/ 3;55 gears/ 5 speed went 12.20 @ 113 mph a couple of years ago. Someone else driving the car could most likely put it into the 11's. Great kit for just driving around town, you don't know that it is there. Just a good all-around kit.

Nobody Knows it's there. It fits and installs easy and I've had only one problem, see below. Performance is good in stock form. But to take full advantage of the new intake pressure you must reprogram. NOW after Hypertec PPIII and MSD 6AL BTM the fun has started. Very good mid..top end, 2wd gets low marks in off the line traction. Put it this way, must mustangs never knew what happened. Top end, limited to 128 mph by PPIII is reached while still pullling strong. Not to bad...

Weakness:

There are two problems that I have encountered, one major one minor. Minor first, you must adjust clamps and belts often. Now the not to cool problem, even after you adjust the trottle body clamps to the point of failure, they are still unable to hold the TBI adaptor in place during a high speed deceleration. I have the supplied by-pass valve but it is not large enough to handle full boost, 8psi with PPIII due to 6000 RPM red line, sudden closed throttle decel. Off comes the top and you surge and or stall until you can reinstall it. The adaptor was molded in plastic and the lip was only 60% complete. This required T-bolt clamps and pop rivets to cure. By the way, Powerdyne said, "send us your adaptor and we will see if it is defective" sorry guys, wrong response.

It is a kit, you must make it work. I only recommend this unit for those of us that can continue where the "kit" left off...

I have a turbo installed on my Fiero, it has much better low end due to the boost peak at 3800 RPM not 6000 RPM...

Easy install, cheaper than competition, no oil lines to tap.

Weakness:

Quality and fit of blower are so-so. My discharge tubes don't line up very well with the blower and throttle body. No intercooler available. Boost limited.

No I wouldn't recommend it. Spent a few hundred bucks more and get a vortech or ATI. You'll be dishing out those extra bucks with the powerdyne anyways to get the damn thing rebuilt when the bearings get fried. It happens to almost everyone I know with the powerdyne. I'm sending mine in next week. :(

I like the extra horsepower that I have received from the BD-11 unit. I went from 235hp at the crank to almost 400. It has been reliable so far.
It is extremely quite and can really make a car a "Sleeper".

Weakness:

It cannot be upgraded to more than 9lbs without voiding warranty. It is not suggested that the 11lb pulley be installed due to the fact that it overrevs the ceramic bearing causing failure. I have talked to some people who have used the 11lb with no problems but I don't want to risk it. Also my stock motor will not take much more than 9 lbs and maintain reliability.

Good product for street racing. "Sleeper" quality that I like and gobs of cheap horsepower.

where to begin?????????Too many

Terrible.Major fuel problems as the instructions are very hard to make out and i cut the fuel return line.Upgraded to a 9psi pulley and there was no increase at all on the Autometer boost gauge. And to put that pulley on and to get the stock one off was a nightmare. Then it broke the bearing inside, spent 300plus to get it fixed and told the guy to put on the 11psi (the warrantee is over after 1 year) the boost gauge only read a max of 8psi with the 11psi pulley.Countless hours spent getting the pulley straight.

Keep in mind this is on a 460hp plus motor.
