when ac is on...first gear will sometimes fail.... i bought my civic used wiht the jr supercharged on it allready. I recently took it to the tracks last nigth and hit a 16.7 then a 16.3. i was so dissapointed because the car has the jr supercharger, brosal brospeed catback system, dc header, and a weapon r intake. I decided to let a veteran run it for me which is my friend that has a ls/vtec running mid 14''s and he got a 16 flat with my car which was no bid difference. waht do u guys think is wrong?? allot of my friends say i need to get a coil over suspension and msd which i will get. but I read allot of ariticles bout it and one i remember just installing the JR supercharer into a civic ex ran a mid 14 on the quarter mile...please give me some inputs on what u guys think. huge increase in power from stock form. I ran a 13.8 with an aem and the jr supercharger.

the only down side is you need to buy a new clutch, to much power for a stock clutch. $3000 Similar Products Used: none |

I only had it for 1 month but initial impressions: DAMN! Pulls very hard from 2nd gear on. Awesome low to mid level torque. It doesnt stop accelerating. You can even pass cars on 5th gear. No vibrations, no rough idle, cant tell its even on. Considerably faster
Weakness:
Expensive. Prepare to dish out bucks. Your clutch will wear out faster. Decreased mileage ~2-4 less miles per gallon. Will spend more on money on gas (requires 92 octane) Fortunately I got my supercharger used on Ebay. But the installation charges will kill you that is if you choose to get it installed professionally. I got mine done at Jackson Racing in CA. You will need to upgrade your fuel pump. Total labor charges for me were $970 which included installing the fuel pump, intake gaskets, hoses, and belts, and before and after dynos. So Is it worth it? I absolutely love it, so a BIG YES! 1993 Civic Hatch Si
Strength:
OEM quality. Looks like it belonged in there from the factory. Very complete kit. Great increase in power and the obvious torque down low. Bypass valve so your not always under boost.
Weakness:
Instructions could be much better. More pictures, a little easier language. I know it's for a "mechanic" but more people could do it themselves with better instructions. Great kit comes with everything you need. Fits great....have had zero problems. Makes the 1.6 SOHC VTEC much more driveable. Have beaten 99-00 Civic Si's and new generation Preludes. You do use a bit more gas....not much. HAVE to use premium (which is good anyway). My clutch is old (63K on stock) but can still hold the new power. A new clutch should be put in when you put in the kit but if not it's not the end of the world. Expect to pay between $2,400-$2,800 depending on the kit. I also recommend the high flow fuel pump, air/fuel guage and boost guage and clutch. So the price goes up even a bit more. BUT, you should have the same things if going the turbo route anyway. Exprensive yes, not balls out turbo fast, but you put it on and forget about it. Highly recommended to any Honda/Acura owner in need of real useable HP. By the way...get this first before the intake-header-exhaust normal route. Don't get those and you 1/3 way to the SC. Supercharger on a SOHC 1.6 VTEC gets you 125HP----->165-175 HP plus TORQUE! Intake-header-exhaust on 1.6 SOHC VTEC gets you 125HP---->130-135 if your lucky. JRSC about $2,600 for 40HP to IHE about $1,000 for maybe 10HP....you do the math. Similar Products Used: Nothing in my car. Friend has a 1.8 GSR DOHC VTEC in his 93" hatch Si. Pulls a little harder than my car. Another friend has a 97 Eclipse GSX. Turbo has a bit of lag but substantially more power. |

98 Integra LS 3-dr
Strength:
Torque torque and more torque. Very unfriendly whine from under the hood when revved. Better mileage at cruising speeds. Gentle on my factory motor. Don't have to downshift to get power, just mash on the pedal now. Looking at other "modified" Honda's in my rear view mirror while I am laughing at their feeble attempts to catch up.
Weakness:
VERY bad mileage in stop and go traffic. Car begs for help when the air conditioner is on. Header and exhaust much noisier with JRSC because of increased airflow. Looking at cop cars in the rear view mirror while I realise that I am going to pay a very hefty ticket. Although it doesn't have the sheer balls-to-the-wall power of a turbocharged car, it's 50 state CARB exempt, makes low rpm power as well as the mids and highs, and is much gentler on the motor. It replaces the stock manifold and only increases the overall weight of the car by maybe 15-25 lbs. It's extremely comfortable to drive on the streets and does not require constant maintenance. I'm considering the 8 psi pulley kit, wondering if it will make a big difference. I am more than satisfied with the 6 psi right now, though. Similar Products Used: None personally used, but tested on other people's cars. Rev Hard Turbo. Not the same, apples and oranges. The turbo makes much more power, but at the expense of driveability and motor wear. His car lasted a total of 2 years and didn't make power until 4500 rpms. Forget it. VTEC is nice, but it's not a JRSC. Now, take a VTEC and the JRSC and now we're talking. |

1999 Honda Civic EX
Strength:
Great torque! I've noticed an immediate improvement in every gear. It made my little EX feel more like a Type R! I have raced Integra GS-Rs, Civics, and Eclipses since I bought my JRSC and I haven't lost yet. I've even beat an Eclipse GS-T going uphill! That is some serious horsepower and torque!
Weakness:
Like eveyone else who has reviwed it, I'd say the price is its main weakness. I paid $2500 for the kit, $150 for the high flow fuel pump, and $400 for the installation. It is not cheap, but it is worth every penny. I would recommend this to anyone looking for big, street-legal, daily driving power. But if you are looking to be the fastest Honda at the track I'd go for an elaborate, expensive (and illegal in CA) turbo set-up. But the JRSC has great power and show-quality looks that make it a truely awesome product. Forget the traditional intake, header, and exhaust and buy a supercharger first. I wish I would've gotten mine a long time ago, then I would have never lost a race! Similar Products Used: Nothing... what can compare??? |
