Strength:
-Rich, deep tone even on a mostly stock 4-banger
Weakness:
-At lower RPMs it can be a little loud when you're really stomping the gas
I went for the Magnaflow because I didn't want a raspy, ricey sound on my mostly stock car. It's the first in hopefully a long line of performance mods, and I'm looking to keep my car classy. This muffler delivers...a rich, deep tone without raspiness even on my stock 4-banger. Doesn't have the ugly coffee-can look either. The sound is great in the low RPMs and not too loud in the upper end. Similar Products Used: Stock |

-very deep sound
Weakness:
interior drone (unless you like the sound)
bought the 4" tip muffler and had auto shop weld up a custom catback for my car. the muffler is awesome - no raspy annoying sounds - just very deep and alot of bass. quiet at idle and once you get to cruising speed on highway its not bad. can get very loud inside car and sounds very nice when accelerating. best of all its stainless steel and looks nice Similar Products Used: -stock.....magnaflow opened up the exhaust for more power!!! |

Strength:
-Look great -nice sound if you have stock manifolds in place, and maybe a resonator -good build quality, good fit -good price -seem pretty light
Weakness:
-too raspy and tinny with high flow -too LOUD with high flow exhaust system like with headers, racepipe, and cat-back I have a pair of the 14829 mufflers. Well I have to say right now I hate these mufflers now that I added headers and got rid of the cats. Before the headers went on it was nice below 3000rpm kind of deep and throaty with just a racepipe on. But droning was there a bit at 2000-2500rpm. Above 3000rpm it started to sound a little ricey considering my car is a 3.5L v6. But now its just HORRIBLE, these things do not like ALOT OF FLOW it resonates the actual metal on the mufflers or somehting and sounds "tinny" NOT good when you have 3.5L v6 stamped on teh back of your car. I'm embarrassed to drive my car right now. I have Flowmaster 50 series delta flows on the way these are MUCH nicer sounding on this car, i've heard them, sounds like borla or dynomax turbos. I also had these on my 2001 Mustang GT and the sound was still kind of high pitched but everyone like stillen and mossy was making systems with this muffler so i figured why not. NEVER again, i will never use magnaflow again for anything besides a v8 and even then there are better choices. Strength:
-great tone, no fart sounds -high shine, great looking casing
Weakness:
-can be VERY loud under WOT -highway drone is obnoxious -DTM tips= carbon all over your rear bumper, and maybe fire -since it's not JDM 1337, yo, you will get no respect from the ricer crowds (if you mention what brand it is. do what i do, tell the retards it's an early Hayame catback) i've had my DTM tipped street series (2.5" tips) on for over a year now, and let me tell you, the sound is killer. nice and deep (for a 2.4 liter), nice low rumble at idle. i had it mated with 2.25" piping and a free flowing resonator... but it's still pretty loud. without the stereo on and up, it gets annoying. and on the highway, the drone is maddening. also, i had some ecu issues where my injectors locked open, resulting in raw fuel pumped into my exhaust... which resulted in ten foot tall flames shooting from my muffler. and thanks to the upturned dtm tips, my rear bumper caught on fire. a week after i had the whole car repainted... so think about that. i'm relacing it with the "14829", 2.25" inlet, 4" double walled single tip. hopefully it'll be a little quieter (if not i'll fabricate a silencer), and shoot fire straight back if my new ecu fails Similar Products Used: OEM, HKS Hiper |

Weakness:
the nasty ricer fart sound i had a custom dual exhaust put on and it sounds good at idle and in lower rpm's but when you get on it is sounds like someone fartting in a can so if you drive kinda slow it sounds good Similar Products Used: i think turbo xs rfl is the by far the best muffler |

a lot work to install certain models can be pricey, like this one Bought the 3 inch dual square tips and had them installed by a professional. Noticeable gain in hp and great sound. Sound is deep and rich. Not annoying to drive a couple hours with. Great looks. The SS really shines. |

Deep sounding Not ricey at all
Weakness:
Without kit from RRE, it becomes a problem to install in the 3g. This muffler is bad ass. Not too loud or raspy like many others. Nice deep mellow tone to it. Ive had it on about a day now and its turned many heads. The sound dies right as my CAI picks up. Similar Products Used: Stock exhaust..none compared to magnaflow for sound on the 3g eclipse's... |

Strength:
Not too whiney or fart can sounding like so many out there these days giving us a bad name. Not too loud. Nice low rumble at idle.
Weakness:
Not totally straight thru like the race series is, has a tuning tube that cuts down the noise some, but also cuts air flow some. Not sure what the air flow rating is, but it's definitely not 2.25" straight thru. Does sound a little farty when revved from a stop. I've had this 6" round street series single tip muffler for about 2 years. It gave some better performance and better gas mileage. It doesn't drone when at cruising speed on the highway. You definitely hear this one give a nice growl though when you get on it. But when just cruising around sometimes you don't even know it's there. I'd say this is a good muffler for those w/ 4cyls., wanting something that is not too loud, but that gives better performance and looks than stock. Similar Products Used: stock |
