Borla Cat-Back System Cat back Exhaust Systems

Borla Cat-Back System Cat back Exhaust Systems

DESCRIPTION

BORLA exhaust is built of aircraft-quality T-304 stainless steel -- stainless inside and out, not mild steel, not aluminum, not coated aluminum, not just wrapped with stainless on the outside for show. Coating techniques, such as aluminizing, can somewhat prolong the life of mild steel, but coatings suffer at the weld points. And, comparing aluminized steel to T-304 stainless steel is like comparing gold-plated metal to solid gold! T-304 stainless steel has the highest chromium content, making it the most resistant to corrosion and therefore the most desirable material for a long-lasting exhaust system. Note: Only the flanges are not stainless. Available for most all popular US, Japanese and European car applications.

Strength:

Great Tone, Mellows nicely over time. Easier than Legos to install...

Weakness:

Can be a little droning in the 2000 range...

The Borla is extremely well built and came with all the necessary hardware, including gaskets... A few hours in your driveway and you're done. Upon first start up, the sound can be raspy, but over the period of a few months, it calms down to a nice rumble. I bought this while tossing the idea of HKS vs Borla around and I don't regret it one bit... Makes my Stealth sound like it's supposed to... Be warned tho, the sound will definately turn some heads. ;)

Strength:

The stainless steel construction gives its million mile warranty.

Weakness:

No one tells you how much lounder its going to be.

The Borla system bolted straight in using the OEM hangers. The engine definitely breathes easier, not bad for a 4.5L inline 6 cylinder SUV motor. The noise is louder, but with my previous custom exhaust, the lack of back pressure actually reduced my low-end torque. The Borla system seems to have solved the low-end torque issue by providing just enough back pressure. However, at high RPMs, greater than 3000, the engine revs freely up to the redline of 5500.

This system has a wonderful sound. It gives you a little more horsepower, but its not easily noticed, and it gives that great Borla look.

Weakness:

I can't see any

This is a great product for anyone who wants dual exhaust on a V6 Mustang. If you are thinking to buy a new Mustang, I suggest you wait until 2001, because they are going to re-design it, based on the LS, hopefully with dual exhaust.

Strength:

Perfect muscle car sound and exeptional build quality. An absolute joy when driving around town, even when driving leisurely.

Weakness:

Incredibly irritating deep pulsing sound at around 2000 rpm, which is around 65-75 in 5th gear. This is only a problem when cruising on the freeway. My solution, drive in 4th.

I can't say how this system compares to other aftermarket exhaust systems installed on a V8 Mustang. However, I can say that if you own V8 car and seek a muscle car sound, this system will not let you down. If you do a lot of highway driving can't a deep droning sound for long, think about another system. The quality of the Borla is definitely top notch.

Strength:

The system is of superior construction and sounds great. After the system was installed,it felt as if a cork had been pulled out of the exhaust system. The performance gain was readily apparent. The throttle response was quicker and the power comes on earlier in the revband. To this day, the BORLA exhaust system looks/sounds beautiful and kicks a**.

Weakness:

ABSOLUTELY NONE!

My experience with the BORLA system can only be described as excellent. The system really brings added life to my 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT1. The gain in performance is something. This system is a MUST on your 'TO DO' for performance upgrades.

It sounds amazing between 2000-2500 RPM's. It seems to get quieter as the RPM's increase, but maybe that's just my hearing. I feel a definate power increase at the low end.

Weakness:

I think the tips look like crap. They are shorter than the stock tips as well, that is they don't stick out as far. Some people like the way that they look, but I don't.

I don't see the tips being a major problem. I'll just go get some new ones. The product sounds beautiful, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.
