Strength:

Price, nice silver cone, very efficient.

Weakness:

Sounds horrible in a sealed enclosure. Definitely go with bandpass or a ported.

I purchased a pair of these in a small bandpass box and I must admit, the subs hit harder than I expected. I am a car audio enthusiast who usually sticks to high end audio, but needed something cheaper for my commuter car. I recommend that each sub gets a good 150w RMS to be perform to its capabilties. Subs do have a tendency to bottom out without enough power. Overall a good subwoofer for its respectable price. If $119 a sub is in your price range, honestly I can't think of any sub that would hang with these silver stunners.

Similar Products Used:

Sony Xplod, Kenwood Excelon subs, JL Audio W0. Aside from Excelon which is a good $60 more than this sub, even the JL Audio would be hard pressed to keep up with this sub.

Model Reviewed: 10" 6000 series

Strength:

The 10" in a sealed enclosure was a nice addition to my factory system. It really made my PATHFINDER come alive. It really made the best of the Bose stuff I have in my SUV. I got it in a package with an MTX THUNDER amp that puts out 325 watts. It does not take up much space in my trunk and make my Path get noticed even if everything else is bone stock.

Weakness:

I did not buy two, and makes my windows and mirror shake,(not really a weakness.)

If you want good bass that does not take up a lot of space that augments your music nicely these subs are for you. The only problem I have is that I need a head unit so I can get clear vocals in factory speakers without sacrificing bass. Most people don't seem to notice though

Sony X-plod sounded like crap in the store and it was a 12 inch. It was the only sub that took me by suprise in the store. Jensen also sounded week especially for a bandpass box.

Model Reviewed: Thunder 5000 model

Strength:

Very inexpensive for two 12" 8ohm speakers and do some major booming. Wake up my roommate at 1/3 volume. Can be heard for blocks outside of my truck even with the windows up! Power them with a good amp in a sealed box and they will thunder with nice, tight bass.

Weakness:

Can sound muddy with VERY (meaning 30 Hz and below) low bass in smaller boxes, but that is to be expected. You can't defy basic mechanics.

Great product! I want more of them!

Similar Products Used:

Used the 3000's and these are much much more accurate and alot louder. Much higher SPL levels as well.

they did alright for a little while and just blew.
i really don't think they hit as hard as what everyone says
my new jl w3 dual voice coil 2 ohms hit much harder 148.6 db to be exact

Weakness:

they wouldn't don't handle the power that my amp pump out

i recommend them to people that are just starting on there first system. but other than that i wouldn't ever own a pair of 6000's again maybe the 8000's or the new xtant X series(which is exacly like the mtx's just different name and better sound quality
