cheap build materials.(but then again jl engineers work to improve sound not all the hype bulletproof,chrome this and that blah,blah,blah.) no company builds anything so indestructable that you wouldn't buy from them again. just basic marketing.

have 3 jl audio d4's in a 3.75 cu. sealed enclosure powered by a kicker zr 360. my goal was for my sys. was to aim middle ground for price while still getting great performance. be real the average driver listens to music at moderate levels. these subs reproduce music.i have my crossover @100hz. but i'll keep it real too. we also like to flex our systems too that's why we throw the stock good in boxes and build our own.with that said my set up powered by under 500 watts rms will knock the slobber off a bulldog! by the way my frontstage are the bostons 6.53's serious sound quality guys invest in jl and boston.

JL subs are the best bang for the buck. Nothing compares to the quality of these subwoofers. They pound running off a 500 watt Rockford amp.

These are some of the best subs made in my opinion. I would reccommend them to people with medium powered systems. they can make 200 watts to each sound way louder. I dont buy some claims of 600 watts etc to each i did blow one with 350 rms from a rockford amp, but there still really nice. Jl audio is taking over the industry, other companies better catch up or its goona be all JL

The w7 is a good sub but they are over priced. Rockford fosgate power hx2s and kicker L7s are just as loud and sound just as good as the w7s. you cant say they dont because rockford fosgate are always setting world records and always winning the sq competions. With 4 power hx2s 176.1 db enough said and no im not knocking jl audio its just that rockford and kicker are still the better subs.

Very good clarity, sound quality, and output in proper enclosure. Awesome excursion, over .5" each direction. High distortion threshold.

Finicky about enclosures, so don't make the same mistake I did.

These are extremely capable subs. However, despite what audio shops might tell you to sell their boxes, you MUST make sure the speakers have the proper air space. The first box I put these in was a sealed 1.25 cf per side. I couldn't figure out why the tone was so brittle and the sound was boomy. Finally it occured to me that they hadn't matched spec with the air space, and I bought a new box that was .65 cf sealed per side. 100% improvement. Bottom line, JL subs are great, but don't fudge the installation. JL 500/1 is perfect for a pair of these.

One obvious strength is it's JL. Other than that..W7's can take over 1000watts RMS, will never over-heat, and produce insane cabin pressure inside a vehicle!!! I know this for a fact. If I played my system at even half the volume with my windows closed, I know for a fact I'd blow out some windows.

There really is no weakness to these subs. You could maybe look at the 3ohm VC as a weakness but only in the sense that its hard to find an amp. Best solution for that though is a JL amp. Clean watts, amazing amps!

About five months ago I baught three W7's. I heard one 10W7 in my boy's ride and I was totally impressed, thats why I got mine. Oh course I wanted my system to be the best in my area. Which is almost impossible since Im from Miami(where bass was invented)haha. So I got three 13.5's, cause the way I am is either "go big or go home". Im just gonna say straight out that honestly this is the best system Ive ever owned! I couldn't be happier with these subs. They are kinda weird though. In the sense that they're so clean they play bass like you've never heard before. But it's awesome and you get used to it anyway. The only problem is the 3ohm voice coil for finding an amp. But i solved that easy and baught three JL 1000/1's. One for each sub. Which I had to have my local JL authorized dealer place a special order to JL for because they didnt have any. And it took forever. But in the end these subs are worth every penny. And I cant really described how they sound because it's something totally new to me even. All you need to know is that these subs rock the house(in)? -no! (apart)!

Clean hard hitting deep bass that u can hear from over a block away. Very underrated. They move a lot of air.

Well i have two of them in a ported box built to the specifications with a jbl bp600.1 amp. They say 250 rms and they are eating 600 watts. All i can say is that these things pound!!! The deep notes sound like 15's. Had them for almost 2 years and still sound like when i first bought them. If i ever buy any more woofers it will be jl audio.
