I purchased JL Audio's 10W6 sub for the awesome sound for an amazingly small enclosure. My enclosure is so small I had to cut away the back of the box to get the magnet to fit. It is approximately .55 cubic feet. I was running a Kicker ZR240 Amp to it and it handled it well. Amazing amount of sound that can fit behind ANY truck seat.

I purcused 2 10" JL's about 2 months ago. I have 2 Punch 55's powering them and a pyramid crossover. The speakers are phenomial! They deliver a clean sound with the dial barely turned up. I had 2 Legacy 600's before and so far these are far better. My friend has the same amp, same bandpass box, crossover, cd player, and car with Punch instead and I sound much better.

I replaced my AURAs with two of these JL's, and they are great. They are behind the seat of my truck in only about .6 cubic ft. each. The are the deepest, loudest sup I have ever had. I would deffinitly buy them for your car. What ever you buy though, do not buy the AURA. They suck!

I have three 10W6s in a sealed box, wired to present a 4 ohm load to the amplifier--a Rockford Fosgate Punch 200 bridged mono. An Audio Control 3XS shoots everything below 80 Hz to the JLs.
I've had them since '96 and they have rocked from day one. The sound is silky smooth and crystal clear from the quietest listening levels up through rip-my-head-off-I-can't-take-it-anymore pounding. In the sealed box configuration, they don't color the music at all. If the artist wanted tight, crisp bass, that's what they'll deliver. If the artist wanted to rattle your ass with 808 kick drums that ring out for days, that's what they'll deliver.

In addition to great sound, they offer a zillion configuration possibilities and don't require enormous boxes to get the job done.

JLs are the best.

The 10 w6's are awesome subs. They are perfect 10's. They go in a small box, take 300 rms, and go deeper than most 12's in upper price category. They hit so hard you can go numb!! I've personally seen 4 of them in a trunk. All sealed and shooting toward the rear of the car. There was a rockford 800aII on every two and they pounded ungodly!! Louder than a stack of 15's or a wall of 12's. Plus they last a really long time and they can have all kinds of different configs. Awesome stuff. I gave only four because four is my highest

Model Reviewed: 10W6

Strength:

Needs a small enclosure. Deeper and louder than your average 10". Dual Voice Coil.

Weakness:

Construction could be a little stronger.

After hearing so much about JL, I had to buy one of their subs. After
buying one off some guy, I had a 10W6. I was quite impressed. I was feeding it 240watts, and it was pounding away. It got quite low and loud. It was the best 10" I have ever heard. If you can purchase it cheap, or
not, I would buy any JL sub. You won't be disappointed as long as you feed it clean power.

Similar Products Used:

I'v used Pioneer and MTX 10"s. JL beat both hands down. Currently, I'm running 2 12" Fosgate Punch HX2's.

Model Reviewed: 2- 12" w6's

Strength:

excellent bass, good mid range sound

Weakness:

the voice coil in the left sub went out already, and the foam lining came off a little bit

these speakers are great, there is only one thing i think beats them and that is the atomic 12" subwoofers, i had a set in a band-pass but they got stolen, then i got my jl's, they're right beside the atomics, just using my cd player i've set off a couple car alarms and woken a few people up, especially neighbors

Similar Products Used:

atomic 12" subs, almost beats them, once again just using my cd player i had the concrete below my feet rumbling outside the car with the atomics, my jl's do a little bit but not quite as much

Strength:

extemely flexible wiring capabilities thanks to the dual voice coil, consistent reproduction of bass notes regardless of volume, seamless handling of tremendous amounts of power, lack of distortion... list goes on.

Weakness:

it does take a bit of juice to make these babies shake the house. not the house you're in front of... the house down the street, mind you. retail price is a bit steep.

bear in mind, that i am not a technician. this will not be a long and dran out review.

currently pushing 3 10w6's (wired for 4 ohms) in a sealed box. i believe that they are the perfect compromise between loud, heart stopping bass, and accurate note harmonic reproduction... at any volume.

if you are looking for subs to simply pound, there are several cheaper and more efficient subs. if you tend to favour and appreciate the accuracy of the bass in whatever style music you enjoy, look no farther.

unsurpassed blend of spl and sq that remains a standard for other subs to follow.
