I think the fact that they are forgiving in small boxes. Dont get me wrong they sound great.........butt im a BASS FREAK. JL are great if your system isnt that great (i.e mediocre amp .) And not much space to put a box

I found that just using 1 it bottomed out I run a ppi 2360 and a ported box built bo jl specs in the front hatch of my Toyota mr2. I think its a little over rated and would like to unload it.

I think jl is a great woofer but i like bass and gobs of it.As for the w7 we will have to wait and see. Low tight accurate bass reproduction, not that boomy crap that some seem to like in this review column

I only recommend this sub to those who are looking for ACCURATE reprodution of sub bass in music. If you are looking for BOOM (60hz- 120hz) don't waste your money on the 10w6, but if you HAVE to have a 10w6 and you want boom build the enclosure a shade smaller than recommended by the manufacture.
I'm currently running just one 10w6 with @ 3ohm/400watts in the recommended .66 cubic ft. enclosure, beautiful sounding sub that deserves to be called a SUBWOOFER (20hz-80hz).
Buy a Pyramid 25.00 10" if you want boom.

I'm running 3 10 W6s (6 ohm dvc)in a sealed enclosure with 300 watts rms per sub by an Alpine MRV-1507 amplifier. Overall i feel that the subs are very accurate and distortion free. i was previously running 3 diamond audio m5 subs that would reach decent lows but not nearly as well as the JL subs. the diamond subs would also clip before the JLs. In fact, i've yet to clip the JLs at all. I would recommend these subs to any person looking for true accurate bass

They Hit really hard, but they won't hit those higher bass solos. They are excellent for boomy bass fans

The foam surround that is already showing some wear, these woofers MUST be powered with 300 watts each so they don't distort at high volumes. Also they don't have the JL Audio VRC technology

I have three 10w6s in a 98 contour and they are pretty loud. I am running them with a Phoenix Gold ZX500 so that is roughly 170 watts a sub. The reason I say they require 300 watts each is because they are distorting with me and my box is fine. I don't like the foam surrounds. I think they are inadequate for these subs and should be re-designed with rubber ones. They produce loud, and accurate bass, but don't get these if you are trying to get a system with a budget because the amp for these will cost you a pretty penny. I recommend these woofers to someone who wants loud bass and has a decent amount of money to throw into a system, the reason for the 4 star rating was that even though these are good woofers, there are better ones out there.

I only have ONE JL 12W6, being fed 300 watts from a Rockford Fosgate 600a4 (300watts to the sub and 75 watts each to the front speakers), and that thing POUNDS!! I only use half of the bass setting because it hurts my ears (or is it my head?). Recommend to anyone wanting huge bass!

I would highly recomend any JL audio subs I've never had any problems with sound quality or not pounding hard enough. I have four 15" W6 subs they pound hard hurts everyones ears and sounds good outside too. If your the type of person who needs extreme amount of bass then you need these or cerwin vega stroker series but your gonna need at least 1000 watts for one.

just ONE, requires 2 much juice.

I actually don't own any of these but my sister's boyfriend has 2 12's in his trunk in a bandpass box and beleive me, it makes your nose itch. He works in the electronic business (mainly subwoofers and car audio installations) and he KNOWS what he's talking about and he says that these are the most reliable subs he's ever had.

these sub just throw deep bass doesnt hit at all, sounds too soft

these sub are a bid dissapointment for me, i have 3 of them powering with 600 watts to each woofer, went through 4 differnt boxes, including sealed and ported, cant make them hit. decided to go with solo L7 what a differce and saves alot of space, 2 solos are louder than 3 w6s

I have 3 of the in the back of my 94 grand am gt. I'm powering them with a Rockford Fosgate 250 and they hit hard and loud.
I would recommend them to anyone. They are loud and an awesome value for the money
