I love loud music I compete in a lot of IDBL events and almost all slam jams I placed second at the slam jam nationals open 201 - 400 watt class I will only use
Phoenix Gold accesories and amps with cv124 subs and a sony cdxc7850 head
unit I have 2 phoenix xs2500 amps one to each sub and I find that I am constantly
replacing my subs I love the sound quality of them and the way they hit when they
are new but I am getting tired of having to replace my subs every week everyone tells
me to switch subs even the place I bought them but I like the look of them and the
sound I don't want to lower my amps for fear of losing db levels I wish I could afford
a stroker dvc but I can not maybe if enough people send reports like this one to
Cerwin Vega they will decide to strengthen the spider within there subs

Strength:

Great Low Bass, sounds good when you turn them up. Hardly ever bottoms out

Weakness:

Spider breaks too easy. Doesn't get high enough. Huge Box!! Needs lots of air

I had one Cerwin Vega 12" with a Rockford 360a2 to it, and I blew it out twice in the first ten days I bought it. In that ten days, I blew the sub twice, shorted the amp, blew alot of circuits, and little stuff too. I would say that this sub's spider is too thin. Great sounding bass, but that damb spider snaps way to easy!! I had the ported box for it too. My trunk was heatin up cause teh sub was movin alot of air, but had nowhere to move the air to. Great overall sub, just have lots of room, and don't really push it, or else the spider will snap, shorting the amp in the process.

Strength:

Very loud, The best lows ive ever heard from a sub.

Weakness:

needs a big box, but thats ok cause i got a big trunk

I love these speakers!, I only have a kicker ZR360 "360 watts", and they hit harder than any other speakers i had with that amp, I have had the popping sound but only when i turn it up real loud and its cause i dont have nearly enough power to push them, yet. I recommend these speakers to everybody!!!!!

Better than kicker, JL, MTX, and most other subs

Strength:

Pretty loud speaker.

Weakness:

Weak speaker. Had to exchange 3 times in about 4 months. I do run speakers pretty hard though. Also needs a hell of a large box.

Pretty loud speaker but wasn't really that impressed with it for $200. I ended up having to exchange it 3 times because the woofer kept coming away from the core of the speaker. The final time that it was replaced, Best Buy didn't have any left so I had $200 credit toward another sub. I bought a Fosgate XLC and a Q-Logic box for about $210. It was much better. Could've just been bad luck for me.

12" Fosgate XLC, this speaker was $80 cheaper and was much better than the Vega.

Strength:

Intense, deep, and VERY loud bass even with low to moderate power. Incredible output with appropriate power.

Weakness:

Quality is sacrificed for volume. HUGE box requirements to get the most out of these suckers, I upped my box size from 1.5 cu. ft. to 2 cu. ft. and there was a major volume difference. You also NEED big 4" air ports for these suckers.

Fantastic subs for my purposes. I don't know why anyone competing in the 12" sub category on a budget wouldn't use these subs, because dollar for dollar, the output from these things is the best you'll find.

Yes, Perfect 12's and Alpine 12's are smoother and require less box space, but then again those aren't for you if you're looking at these. You want volume. Get a big and powerful amp and set the gains carefully, BOOM.

Kicker C10a: Louder but not as smooth. Kicker X12C: Louder but not as smooth. JBL Loud & Clear 12": MUCH MUCH louder, but once again, not as smooth.

Strength:

Good warrenty, I can out bump, out pump and out pound 90% of 12" subs!! And put two 15" JL away, and out pounded 4 12" JL in Comp.

Weakness:

Weak spider, easy to blow without the exact box, and these must be brokken in right, I swear to god that is most importet. I am talking like 3-6 mo. of braking in.

When I first seen these subs, used in an audio store I was amazed!! Two 12" vegas with a Power Acoustic 1800W amp for $500. I just started checking to see what was wrong, talked to a few people found out why they were so cheep and said if I buy them i need a warrenty and they did it. Sadly to say since then Ive blown 3 subs, but I keep getting free ones. THE only way to run these subs is in a 2.0-2.25 cubic foot box with factory spec ports!!, I have made, bought, and tried over 5 different box configurations, there is only one way that is big with ports.

Strength:

-lots of deep bass
-loud
-looks deadly

Weakness:

-horrible sound quality
-lots of drag, very sloppy sounding

I bought 1 12" sub and threw it in the correct box, I'm powering it with a rickford punch 250a2 amp. The sub is in the trunk of an oldsmobile cutlass and it does an amazing job of producing big bass. I bought this sub in my days of listening to lots of rap and big bass techno so it did wonders for me, but now my musical tastes have taken a big change. Now I listen to any techno and lots of good rock and roll. This sub still produces bass but not the quality that my music requires. If you listen to bass heavy music or are just simply a bass head then this sub will do wonders for you. I personally still like the sub but am now looking at putting 2 10" rockford he2's in a sealed box because of the deadly sound quality. I'm going to rate this sub a little lower than most because I don't see it as being a very practical speaker.

Strength:

-loud bass
-lots of bass
-looks deadly
-not a power hog

Weakness:

-the sound quality is absolutely horrible
-only meant for bass heads

I bought these subs under the impression that they had deadly bass. I was so suprised at how much bass they actually put out. I built a 1.75 cubic foot box and filled it with poly and am using a 4" port running it with a rockfordfosgate punch 250a2 amplifier and it pounds. I find it a little hard on the ears personally and the sound quality isn't very good on this sub. So for bass heads this is a deadly sub but for the rest of us there are better subs out there. I was suprised at how much bass this thing actually puts out. It sucks for acoustic music because ever kick drum or bass guitar turns into a loud thump or boom. I have a $400 rockford EQ and I set the eq on my amp to do nothing less than 100hz and it still isn't cutting it. I'll be moving on to a different sub in the near future but for now this sub is alright.

I have used boston acoustics ( deadle sq ), Jl audio ( cheap garbage ) and rockford fosgate xlc's ( nice but took up too much space )
