Strength:
Awsome mids and highs if crossover is set correctly, the purest sound for a great price. Also very durable, used for over a year and no prob.
Weakness:
Don''''t really handle the low/mids too well, but when you have 2 12''''s that are capable of reaching those frequencies, that''''s not problem at all. I''''ve got an MTX 6304 75W x 4 cahnnel amp driving the dx6''''s in the back and the ex2650 components in the front. The speakers sound amazingly clear. I''''ve been using them for a while and use them at high volumes all the time every day...still not blown. I have 2 12''''s set up to cover the lows, and the combination of the 2 is unbeatable. Highs to mids can''t be beat
Weakness:
not good below about 100Hz Excellent when paired with a sub or other speakers capable of producing the lower octaves. These speakers produce the most natural sounding highs I''ve heard and the imaging is the best! Similar Products Used: JBL |

Strength:
Clean, clear, accurate highs to mids. Price.
Weakness:
Can be harsh/ bright in upper middle range if driven. Still fine tuning my system but the dx6 is the best value (price/performance) out there. Polk MM6930 in the rear help the front dx6 make a great sound stage. Similar Products Used: EX series polks, MM series polks, Rockford Fosgate bass amp & sub. |

Natural, Clear, Smooth Sound.
Weakness:
Bass but it is a 6 1/2 inch coaxial after all. About six months ago bought a used Nissan Maxima. It had MB Quart and Rockford Fossgate speakers. Well my 15-year-old was very impressed but I on the other hand have Thiel speakers in my home system. So although the stereo sounded impressive at times I also had a tendency to wince quite often. I began looking for a listenable/reasonably priced alternative and in my search I came across carreview.com and found the reviews on the Polk dx-6’s. All nine reviews were five star ratings with no exceptions. So as Polk has been known for making a fairly natural sounding speaker I decided to buy a pair to replace the Rockford''s. I found a new pair on E-Bay for $90 including shipping/bought them and had them installed. Well not bad, in fact instead of wincing I''m now smiling and as far as I''m concerned that''s what it''s all about. Instruments now sound true; voices sound real and the bass although somewhat limited is accurate and not boomy. They are not Thiels but they don''t have to a price tag of $2400 either and they fit in my car. They also seem to blend well with the MB Quart’s, the Clarion CD, JBL amplifier and Stinger wire. So I would like to thank the previous reviewers and add my five star rating of these speakers also. If you like a natural sound rather than "impressive" that strains the ear with coloration I don''t think you can go wrong with these speakers especially at this price range (and higher for that matter). Strength:
Clean highs that aren't harsh and realistic vocals.
Weakness:
None Paid 149.99 +tax. I listened to many high-end coaxials and the only other ones that compared were the JL evolutions. These sound even better in the car than on the display. They have a 40 RMS rating though i am pushing 50. I would recommend that anyone who wants to upgrade their front speakers give these a serious consideration. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Very balanced sound, smooth highs, best mid-bass responce from a 6 1/2 I've ever heard!!!
Weakness:
Not really a weakness, but you will need an amp to drive these. After I purchased my Kenwood 6 1/2's, I found out I had an oversized opening. I then purchased the Infinity which I found to be too bright, with not enough mid-bass. I finally turned to the DX6’s, which was my original choice (I know I tried to be cheap at first). These speakers do everything I want a speaker to do. They are balanced, not too heavy, not too bright, and can really crank. Perfect for rock, jazz, rap, r&b, and blues. However, I do not recommend for classical music! These are sweet speakers but if you under power them they will blow, get an amp to push them. Mathew Polk knows his stuff! I wouldn't buy anything else now that I have them. Similar Products Used: Kenwood KDFC-1677, Infinity 652i. |

great power handling and sound quality...precise
Weakness:
none, best 61/2 coaxial i've heard Love polk speakers, they have never disappointed me and I am a very picky listener. Any body picky about quality and who wants to power these with a small amp or high power deck, these are the 61/2s for you. Don't buy others just because of brand name...look at the reviews and see how they really perform. Similar Products Used: Pioneer, RF, Altec L, polk |

Strength:
Best in their catagory
Weakness:
Bass is acceptable but needs support...use with a sub! I can't say enough good things about these speakers. Polk has done it again. The DX series has THE smoothest response I have ever heard in a car speaker and I've owned many over the years (i.e. MB Quart, Boston Acoustics, A/D/S, etc.) I've got a pair of DX6s up front and a pair of Polk's DX7s in the back (I stuck with the original factory sizes.) Believe me, I am one fussy individual and these puppies put a smile on my face every time I turn them on. They sound very much like a high quality home speaker. They may sound a bit flat at first but that's only because most car speakers don't have a very smooth response (either too hot in the high notes or a midrange that just makes you want to turn them down.) Not the case with the Polks, you just want to keep turning them up! Similar Products Used: Cerwin-Vega but there's NO comparison. |

Strength:
One of the best sounding coaxials I have ever heard. Great highs and mids, not great bass, but that's what subs are for. Great value too, got mine for under $100 and installed them myself, very easy to install.
Weakness:
No complaints. Bass isn't great but that's not what I was looking for in these speakers, the bass is coming from the subs. Definitly reccommend buying these speakers, especially if you are on a budget. They sound better than some 6 1/2" component sets that I've heard. Similar Products Used: Stock. These kick their ass. |
