Strength:
great accuratcy n transparency, tons of midbass, Sounds warm and natural, wide sound stage great build, very accurate but viscious tweeter. Over all a superb component set.
Weakness:
Needs strong attention to deatail when installed. U need to run some premium speaker wires to these babies. The factory wires can''t cut it. They will sound overly brite and sharp if not properly install. But once properly installed and powered with high end componets These rock!! Kind of brite tweeters but with some EQ ing or treble turned down I have these components for about 6yrs no still sound great and still amazes me. They are the best speaker that I''ve come across Similar Products Used: Diamond, Nakamichi, focal |

Strength:
Very very clear. Sounds great with all type of music. Very low distortion rate. This German speakers are the best that I have owned to this day. This speakers are being pushed by a Soundstream Ref. 644 and havn't had any problems with them. I was amazed with the clarity of these component set.
Weakness:
Crossover protection kicks in too quick and the tweeters will get to you after a while. I actually had to carry earplugs in my truck. Had to remove crossovers and added a Coustic XM5e crossover which I think is the best way to go eventhough I had to get another amp for my tweets. Overall this component set is great. If you are not going to raise the volume level too much you shouldn't have any problems. If not get ready to buy a crossover and extra amp for tweets. 1996-7 QM218.03 CX separates
Strength:
Very clear and distortion-free up to the limits of my volume tolerance (about 110 dB rms). Good soundstage and musical details. Excellent reproduction of upright bass and drums for jazz. Very smooth speakers.
Weakness:
Nothing. However, in these 1996-97 .03 series referenz speakers, I had to modify the crossover (easy to do) in order to bi-amp the mid-woofer and tweeter. Questionable warranty for gray market purchased product. I paid $155 for the QM218.03CX 6.5" separates. In my 98 Nissan Frontier King Cab, the stock 100 watt(?) 4-channel amp runs the separates bi-amped (strangly the stock cheapie separates were also bi-amped) so well that I do not wish for any more power. This is the first mobile speaker system that I have ever owned that didn't require any bass nor treble boost. However, I was careful to seal the woofer in the doors very well, in fact so well that I have to turn down the bass with some CD's. I have nothing but praises for the MBs and would recommend them to anyone who is trying to accurately reproduce most types of music in a vehicle. Similar Products Used: First set of 6.5" separates I've owned. Experienced 4" Blaupunkt, JBL and Kenwood separates and 6.5" Pioneer coaxs. MBs are in a much higher league. |

Strength:
Sounded best with no bass or treble adjustment.
Weakness:
Harsh tweeter, even at -6db adjustment. Mount for tweeter is kinda cheesy. Good speaker for Rap, Metal, but I prefer something smoother. Similar Products Used: Polk . Polks sounded a little more detailed in midrange but no tweeter adjustment. less bass |

Strength:
The mids have great punch
Weakness:
The tweeters are a bit to bright and give you a headache if The quarts are some of the best speakers I have heard. The mids are very tight and accurate, and highs are loud and crisp. The good thing is you can give them a lot of power and the sound great and won't distort. They greatly improve the staging up front and complement all your other speakers. I would recommend these speakers. Similar Products Used: factory speakers the differnce between the quart and my factory speakers up front is amazing. The staging is greatly improved. |

Strength:
These are the best speakers I've seen yet for a co-ax setup. Ii got mine at a car show on clearance for $190. With the proper head unit (Sony CDX-C910) and amp (PPI A404.2) the clarity and freq. range is amazing.
Weakness:
The crossover is not very good at killing the lower frequencies, (below 50Hz), so you might want to put a 80Hz High pass X-Over on them or EQ the stuff out. Also, the Crossover's tweeter protection kicks in way too early. I took the crossovers out and just use a DSP and Electronic X-Over. These along with some good seperates in the front have won several local competitions for myself and my '92 Camaro (Lilith) over the last 2 years. Deep mid
Weakness:
None I bought a set of 218 6.5" comonents for the front a set of 160 6.5" coaxs for the rear. After 5 years, they are still sounding great. I paid $299 and $229 for them. I have a Rockford Punch 4080 amp running them. For playing classic rock with lots of bass guitar, these speakers sound great! Nice solid low end. When I play rap, I turn the bass down and let the subs handle it. For a set of speakers designed for sound quality, they can handle high power/volume very well with little change in sound quality. I bought a pair of mb-quartz q series 6x9 speakers for teh back of my toyota camry and they sound great. Extremely small amount of distortion at very high levels. Awesome detail in any volume and the quality and richness of the low bass they can put out is unbelievable. I paid 179.99 for two speakers and i recommend picking up a pari fi you wish to go into competition. These are high level speakers. Similar Products Used: They can get as loud as the infinity kappa 6x9 but sound a lot clearer. |

Strength:
Very accurate sound. Powered by a Hifonics 5-channel amp and able to take ANY amount of power (at least uo to deafening volumes) without distorting. Well defined low end.
Weakness:
Bright, harsh sounding titanium tweeters. The titanium tweeters arevery harsh for my personal taste. Lowering the tweeter attenuation a couple DB's on the crossover helps a lot, but not enough to make me understand why these speakers have such a great reputation. |

Strength:
Low bass output, incredible accuracy, extremely detailed, SPL.
Weakness:
HARSH HARSH tweeter, I used -6dB tweeter attenuation and still had to mount them low in the door with my 6-1/2". Great speaker if you like your music LOUD. I prefer a warmer sound with a more prominent low-mid frequency. Any road noise or engine noise ruins their in-car sound. If I didn't have subs I'd appreciate them more because they will extend about half an octave lower than most speakers.
