Strength:

Incredible sound reproduction, transparent highs, big honkin x-over.

Weakness:

None

I was dead set on getting the HEX series due to the silk tweeter. Eli (at Elite Autosound in Boardman, OH), played these first with some music I really like... MAN, I couldn't believe that a speaker system that costs 1/2 as much as the next level up could sound AS GOOD, if not BETTER!!! Even got a pair for the rear!!

Strength:

Beautiful build, good qualities, robus-looking crossovers, nice soft sounds, woofer pumps out lots of controlled bass

Weakness:

Seriously, I haven't found one yet. Perhaps the crossovers are big?

I installed these Diamonds in replace of Polk EX 6.5 components. The difference was night and day, tho these two sets are not on the same level. Installing the Diamonds took some time, due to the large crossovers and the oversize woofer. I installed the Diamonds on an Integra, and had to remove the plastic speaker holder just to get it to fit in.

Once in, they sounded much cleaner and clearer. I'm powering these with an Alpine V-12 5 channel amp, which will give it some decent power.
After listening to these for about 5 minutes, I heard sounds that I never heard before in familiar CD's. The sound quality is more balanced, and the tweeter isn't too harsh. I think the M5's come with aluminum tweeters, and they don't sound as harsh as the tweeter's in my friend's Boston Pro Series.

Overall, I think these speakers definitely blow out Bostons, because they are cheaper and sound as good. I use to be a Boston-hololic, but their prices are very steep, and their sounds in their Pro Series have lead me to think that there are better speakers out there for the money. Good speakers are not suppose to "add" anything to your music. It's just suppose to play whatever your track contains. I think I will re-listen to all of my old CD's again. :)

Strength:

The sound definitely. I listened to just about everything (Infinity, Boston, Eclipse, MB Quart, etc) before I made my choice and nothing else even came close. They are extraordinarily clear, precise, and accurate. They flat blow away every single person that sits in my car. I have 2 sets of the M561s in the front and rear doors of my VW Passat and they just plain rock! Amazingly enough, I get good, solid mid-bass out of them using a Phoenix Gold zx475ti amp with the bass boost set at about 6 db. Once I added the eq to deepen the sound in the 100-200 hz range, i've had people that thought I had 8's in my kickpanels! I'm pushing 125 w per set, with no clipping or distortion, and they handle it just fine. Sometimes I think my amp will give out before those mids do! Outstanding product!

Weakness:

Anyone that is disappointed with the low mid-bass should add an amp with 3-6 db of bass boost or add an eq. Trust me, it makes all the difference in the world. I did have an early problem with the component tweeters overheating and shutting off at 60-65 % volume and 50% gain on the amp.But thanks to some prompt help from Diamond support my installer was able to reset the tweeter protection circuit and I was back in business! Only real problem I have is that they almost drown out the 6x9s that I have in the rear deck (if you can call that a problem...).

I paid $300 a pair for mine, which I consider to be money well spent. Compared to $450 for the Bostons, $460 for JL Audio, $400 for the Quarts, and $375 for the Eclipse components, I feel like I got a true bargain. Not often does a bargain make your friends want to swallow their pride and swap their speakers. Noone that bought something else or paid more will want to admit it, but you can see them fighting back a silent smile of acknowledgement when you crank those babies up. The ultimate compliment: The local shops here that don't carry them nod in respect when they ask what kind of speakers i'm running and I say Diamond Audio. Nuff said. I'm sure there are components somewhere that can do what these do; I just haven't seen them yet, and I don't think I will in this price range. Buy these if you demand the best, and watch the masses turn green with envy.

Strength:

These speakers are unbeleivably crisp and clear! Even when with the volume turned up there isn't a hint of distortion. The Mid-bass is solid and when coupled with the JL Micro Sub(two 8" JL Audio Subs in a ported enclosure) the sound is killer!

Weakness:

None

You could probably pay less than what I paid for them, judging from the posts on this BB. But, I don't regret buying these one bit. These speakers are incredible.

I replaced the factory Bose Acoustic Wave system($2200) that came with my 1993 Rx-7 with one pair Diamond components in front and two 8" JL Subs in back. My new system sounds light years better and louder than before. I wish I had made the switch years ago!

Strength:

Great detailed sound quality both in the low and high range. Clear sound with realistic reproduction.

Weakness:

None

Replaced my factory speakers and added a 100 watt amp to my stock CD/Cassette player. The difference was incredible. It no longer sounded like I was listening to music with cotton stuffed in my ears. Price was great since they had a discount going for the speakers. Installation was straight forward. Would recommend these speakers for the price and sound quality.

Strength:

THE SOUND. I can't begin to describe the detail. I thought my little alpine amp was too small. But when I switched from Bostons to these, I was absolutely amazed. I have never, in 16 years of car audio experience, been so impressed with a set of speakers.

Weakness:

The crossovers are really pretty, but they're a little large to be hiding under carpet.

I am just plain amazed every time I get in my truck. I had literally given up a LONG time ago, on ever buying a set of speakers again. I usually build my own, because I can do it right for half the price of someone else's profit based design.

I would and have recommended these speakers to anyone with ears. They play as loud and as clear (while playing loud) as a good horn system for the house or club.

It reminds me of why I got into car audio to begin with. No sh*t.

Similar Products Used:

Boston Acoustic (Diamond spanked them), ADS makes GREAT stuff, but the Diamonds are just SO much more detailed. Infinity (Diamond is to infinity as infinity is to jensen), JBL makes a good Ti tweeter, but diamond steps it up a notch on the clarity and extends it throughout the entire range.

Strength:

Great mid/high end response. Great punchy new age sound. Speaker and crossover are beautiful.

Weakness:

Not much low end. (Good components like these aren't suposed to have any low end. you buy subs for that.) Silk dome tweeter of HEX is very nice and M5 should use it as well

Great speakers. well worth money and then some. Beats almost all companies high end which cost 2 times as much. Mate with two diamond M5 12's and some zapco amps and wou will be in heaven. Crossover is so beautiful it has to be mounted. Everyone should own theses!!

Mid and High

Weakness:

Bass. You will want a sub.

I like these speakers alot. Felt they had more mid range warmth than the Boston and less severe highs. They absolutely do not have the Bostons low bass (thats why I use JL subs).
The immaging is great twets in the kick pannels, mids in the doors (made a new bracket for speaker to use new grill). I run the twets at -2db on the cross-over because I do not like to bright of highs. Plan to run a sub with these speakers, I would also seriously consider Boston 6x9 in the rear (RX69) in place of a sub system.
The build quality is second to none! Beautiful cast aluminum frame with chrome backing plate and aluminum cone. I give these 4 stars because of the lack of low bass. I felt the could put out a little more,(like the Bostons). For $300.00 I paid I think they sound incredible. I would recomed these to anyone.

Exceptional value. Comparable to Eclipse in SQ,but substantially cheaper. Run these babies flat with a GOOD amp. A/D/S needs tweeking due to HARSH hi's/lo mid performance, Quart should sell at this price, Diamonds should sell at Quart price. NO comparison.
