Strength:
No cord....is a plus. Weakness:
Depending of which way you are traveling....the sunshine will vastly diminish your ability to see what is on the display. We can send people into space and can't make a decent cordless detector yet for a reasonable price. Price Paid: 249
Purchased: New
Model Year: 2019

Strength:
Cordless. Couldn't be easier to use.
Weakness:
Cannot read the screen in bright daylight. Way too dim. Useless. I have used it about one month. It seems to work OK, but it is important to know what type of signal is being detecting and it is impossible to read the screen in bright daylight. The next radar detector I buy will have different colored lights that show what kind of signal is being detected, like the detector my wife has. |

Escort Solo Cordless
Strength:
Long Range
Weakness:
Does pick up false alarms sometimes.. won't work in some places on your window. When i baught the unit i had it running in less than 4 minutes after reading the manual and i picked up a signal and watched the cop pass me 30 seconds later. It picks up good from behind cops and when cops are behind you.. which is very important. It DOES go through buildings and whatever might get in its way even though the book says it wont. It isnt as sensitive to KA as most other radars. Although it will pick up grocery store detectors you have to be very close to it. Similar Products Used: Whistler, Cobra, Valentine One |

Escort Solo S2
Strength:
IT WORKS, very well!
Weakness:
Price is a hit in the wallet, but worth it. If you aren't going to read and learn to use it correctly, save your money (you'll need the money to pay your tickets as I pass you and the cop!) I drive about 45,000 per year as an insurance appraiser. What I don't need is to worry about getting a speeding ticket, and I don't. If you are going to seriously use this device you must be intelligent enought to read the manual and learn to use it correctly. Once you know how to use it, nothing is better! Similar Products Used: I used several cheep products that were worthless. |

Strength:
Ability to turn off X band
Weakness:
Overly sensitive on X band. Not able to turn off SWS alerts. Absolutely no sensitivity to Ka band radar. Purchased for the convenience of cordless. Far too sensitive to X band even in city mode. Falses on Laser. Annoying SWS alerts. Decent sensitivity to K band, no sensitivity to Ka band. Similar Products Used: Uniden, BEL. |

passport solo
Strength:
Hides well with no cord. Disabled X band so there are few false alarms. Has auto mute. I have yet to get pulled over.
Weakness:
Not real sensitive. When it beeps, get on the brakes immediately. I'm sure v1 is better, butI like the stealth. Perfect for concealment! No cordss dangling. I don't know what those guys mean by "eating batteries." I drove From Seattle to California and back on one set. A round trip of nearly 2000 miles! I presset the unit to bypass the start up sequence of beeps. I am seriously considering the solo 2 as an upgrade. Similar Products Used: Bell makes one that I threw away. WAy too many false alarms. |

2001 cordless solo
Strength:
Cordless is the way to go! I hate that cord dangling from the inside of the windsheild. Everyone knows you have a detector and even the cops that pass you by, look at you. This thing picks-up signals so far in advance and I find the battery life to be right on the money with a long life. I travel a long way to work everyday and this is the unit to have. I have yet to be pulled over and the long range is great! On the open highway and on the back streets this unit has never not saved me. I've put it on the top of my windsheild near the mirror on the inside and no one sees or knows it's there. I take it off when I park and it's good to go when I'm back in the car on the road. I can't say enough about this unit and you will not be disappointed if you buy one.
Weakness:
None that I can currently find. I love this unit! I've had other corded units in the past but a cordless unit is just what I was looking for. You will not be disappointed with this unit and all the settings you can program with it. I never had a radar detector that had so much to offer and was so simple to opperate. You will be so pleased with this escort solo that you'll laugh when you pass that police officer and wave as the unit alerts you so far in advance it's almost silly! Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Cordless
Weakness:
Range doesn't seem usefull, eats batteries, plenty of false alarms in town, but they are consistent. No, just choose from cheaper ones with a cord. They couldn't be any worse. Similar Products Used: I bought it because I had borrowed an earier, metal case model of the Solo from a friend. The earlier model actually seems to work much better that this new one. |

Strength:
Battery operated.
Weakness:
Detecting radar. Eats batteries. Price. Battery access door falls off easily. Hard to see disply in bright light. Volume very low. Audio sounds not easily distinguished. I bought it for my bike, but have since hardwired a Bell 880 in it's place. Lots of false signals, and in a 1-1 comparison with my old Uniden, the Solo was next to useless. My old Uniden was screaming 200 yards from a cop shooting Ka, and the Solo was silent, until within about 30 feet! If you want to buy one of these things, buy MINE! Similar Products Used: I've used radar detectors for 20 years. This unit is easily outperformed by my old $50 Uniden. |
