Strength:
works good when brand new.cordless feature is awesome for my motorcycle.
Weakness:
when you press the power button to turn the thing off it just resets and goes through all the irritating beeps. sun seems to have killed it because i can barely hear the speaker anymore. if i had another chance i would not have gotton the damn thing, for one its $200.00 and any whistler dector of $130 and up are awesome with great range. only good thing, its cordless.but who cares about that when it doesnt even work. Strength:
I always prefer Cinninati Microwave products for their innovation and just plain better detectors. Customer Service has been pretty good.
Weakness:
The solo detector (and other passports)seem to be made cheap. The plastic squeaks and fits poor. I miss the old metal Passport I had years before - you know the one that replaced the Escort. I never had to be concerned about plastic warping or such. I have to give any escort detector the nod over the Bels and such for performance. Just wish the plastic would be more stury. Similar Products Used: have used Escort, Passport, the Solo 4 and 5 and finally the latest smaller one of which I own two. |

cordless escort
Strength:
no cord, no extra clues that you are running a detector
Weakness:
Battery life zips away; performance varies, making it unreliable as a steady friend on the dash. no. Would ask a friend to wait for the next generation of detectors Similar Products Used: want to try one of several remote devises |

Strength:
No cord required.
Weakness:
Sliding battery cover will not stay in grooves so unit shuts off frequently. Even heavy duty tape will not keep it closed. Poor battery cover design. Friend with same Solo unit has similiar problem. I would not buy another Solo. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Cordless!!! Solid Cincinatti Microwave product
Weakness:
Eats batteries, false laser alarm in bright sunlight I really like this unit, mainly because it is cordless and I can mount it above the rearview mirror without bothering without having to route a power cable. This makes it easy to take down and stow so that others who might wish to relieve me of my Passport will be thwarted. Similar Products Used: Original Escort, Original Passport |

2001 Escort Solo
Strength:
Convenient due to battery operation, very little falsing, seems well made. Many programable features (also a weakness). Good audio warnings. Multi level city modes.
Weakness:
Too many features and programable options, you have to read the owners manual CLOSELY a few times to get full benefits. Visual displays could be better, but are adequate. The cordless convenience is great. On the highway this detector works great with all but no falsing and great detection range. In the city it has a 4 step X-Band sensitivity which can block out all X if desired. Again good detection range with little falsing. Using the power cord increases detection a little. Good battery life. Many programable features, both a plus and a minus. Excellent audio, average visual warnings. Similar Products Used: Various |
