Strength:
Nice screen and remote.
Weakness:
Horrible skip protection. Bad high-output. HORRIBLE. What is the point in having a CD Player with Subs if it's just gonna skip like this. Skipped since day 1. Sometimes it wont even read a perfectly scratch-free CD. It does have a decent screen with plenty of lights if your into that. The output is very questionable. Turning it up halfway will make it start clipping which sounds horrible. I am not happy with it. I should have kept the CD player I had instead of switching with my friend. Similar Products Used: Some Volfenhag CD player. Worked a lot better. |

CD Text and nice, non-motorized display

The whole thing is a weakness. To boil it all down, its a piece of trash! First reciever I bought to get into car audio. Worked good for maybe six months, then couldn't read CD's, sub-out would cut in and out, remote turn-on lead malfunctione, and skipped horribly. First and last time I ever bought anything Sony for car audio. I wouldn't wish this thing on my worst enemy. Is good only on paper. Learned my lesson: buy an Alpine! display locking up. poor build quality IMO Well, compared to the Kenwood KDC1016 i had before this the sony blows it away - both in sound quality and features. But after a few months a few problems reared there head. for example the display would constantly lock up (i know at least 3 people who have has the same problem) and occasionally would reject cd's. Then eventually after just over a year of use it stopped working altogether. Similar Products Used: kenwood, pioneer (currently using DEH-1450) which craps over both of these |

Alpine CD Reciever CDA-7837
Strength:
Buttons light up. Has a Remote. Detachable face for a little more security. No skipping, and reads discs with no problem.
Weakness:
None really. This thing kicks so much @$$. I havent had a problem with it ever since I''ve had it. It is an older model, but it gives the bang for its buck (especially when you pay nothing for it, like me). It''s easy to install and remove, and is of top quality.
