Strength:

Clean sound
Adjustable source level
great Bluetooth sound and voice calling

Weakness:

Manual

My wifes' factory system in her Acura MDX was dieing a slow death. I upgraded to this Pioneer HU mainly for the built-in Bluetooth, which is rare on Pioneer HU most make you buy a add-on part. I guess the trade off is that some HU come with HD radio built-in or get the bluetooth built-in. I have a cheaper Dual HU that came with both built-in. This HU has reborn the MDX's speakers and with the seperate sub controls it can add plenty of humpf if you want it. The manual is a must read to configure the details of the sound from each source and pairing your phone. The build quality of the manual itself is questionable. It felt like it was made with tear away paper, handle with care. The voice command is a real plus and my wife loves it, she can leave her phone in her purse and just hit one button on the face plate and request to call by name or dial a number without taking your eyes off the road or hands from the wheel. People that she has call are surprise at how clear the BT is and sounds more like the call came from a house. I feel the contrasting light in the face plate is distracting especially at night while driving. If there was a setting that allowed you to turn it off and on then it would be a plus.

Strength:

Lot's of options, it's worth it to sit down and go through the whole manuel, and all the functions because there is a lot you can do with it, especially if you have subs or other aux's

Weakness:

I don't it's look's all that much, but that's just me. It also dosn't have an att button on the face, only on the remote. There should also be some sort of light behind the face so you can see the eject button and the cd slot at night.

I paid a nice price for this through carmedia1.com, it took a while to sort everything out to get it to me. If they don't have something they just put it on back order for you without telling you, so if you don't call up and ask about it they'll probably make you wait up to six months. Si when ordering call your ordre in to make sure they have what your ordering. Other than that they have some of the nicest prices. EX I got a perfect ten for 159.00, when it re tails at 320.00

Strength:

This unit is a great unit. Has more features than most, including the EQ Q-curve adjustments. Nice big screen.

- CD-RW Compatible, this is a huge plus, Pioneer doesn't gaurentee it would work with CD-RW's but it did after a quick test
- Front Image Enhancing feature, this is a good feature for most typical car audio systems.
- Sub woofer controls, can control the levels of the Sub Woofer +/- 9 dB plus low pass crossover.
- High Pass Crossover for car speakers, really good feature for those of you with subs that don't want the 50 Hz signals distorting your deck speakers.
- 6 Pre-amp outputs, completely setup for an external amp. This is great because you get 2 for the subs, right and left rear, and right and left front outputs. Having four deck speaker pre-amp outputs allows for full fading with external amps, (vs having only one set of pre-amp outputs).
- RDS (Radio Data System), can see station call sign, and any text that the radio station wants to broadcast including song names or anything extra.
- High Volt Preamp outputs (4.8v) I can't believe that Pioneer reduced these output levels in the P7200, funny since the Premier series still kept the high volt outputs (just shows how much Pioneer is just marketing on the particulars, seems like they are out to get you not make the best deck...)

Weakness:

-Screen can wash out in sunlight (previously I had a DEH-P4000R that didn't do this)
-ATT button is on the remote only
-ATT button mutes too quickly (I have a friend with a Kenwood in which the ATT would reduce the volume at a good rate until it was muted, with the sudden mute that the Pioneer provides is too abrupt causing problems with subs when playing loudly, which is when you would normally want to use the ATT...)
-Menus too cluttered, for each item you have to keep hitting a button to get to the feature you want, this gets annoying if you like to keep changing features.
-No quick track access with CD Player, not that big of a deal but I just find that there are 6 nice button on the bottom of the CD Player that are for the Tuner but when you are using the CD Player it seems like non of these buttons are even used, why not do something with them, like more programmable buttons or quick track access?
-No CD-Text, can't really complain, this Deck came out before CD-Text really hit big.

Really good deck if you can beat the MSRP
Couple drawback but seems like it has more advantages than most and most head units have more drawbacks then this unit.

I love this CD Player i had it in a my old car and i took it out and put it to a 1999 JGC, it is the best thing about the Jeep. it was hook up to a PPI 800 watt amp and 2 10' pioneer subs it sounded great. now it is hook up to a factory system and it still makes them sound great.
Future Shop did a great jod of the installations and re-installed it in the Jeep for free, thats great service. I got an extended warrenty with it and that is the only thing i wasted my money on because it hasn't even had to be cleaned yet.

Weakness:

The alarm that comes in it is kind of annoying so i diabled it. I went on a road trip and it was on for about 10 hours in 40 celius and the CD player turned off for about 20 mins because it got too hot. But it deserved the break.

I paid 650.00 including installation (CDN) and i'm very happy, i would recommend this but it is getting kind of old ( 10 months ) so they probably have something better out for the same amount of money.

Strength:

The features which come with this deck played a major factor when deciding to purchase this deck.
Pros: (Which I have experienced)
-High-Pass Crossover: Elimates the need for bass-blockers (unless you have itty-bitty speakers)
-Low-Pass Crossover: You can either use the internal crossover and you can control to 50/80/125 Hz or switch it to external, both have level adjustments which are very convenient.
-Hi-Volt Preouts: Nice'n'Clear
-3 Band EQ: contour the sound to your tastes, and you can adjust the frequency of each of those bands and the amount it spreads over the spectrum
-Little LED light which kinda acts as a decoy =)
-3 level-loudness: I like it
-It plays CD-Rs and CD-RWs
-22 watt RMS Power
maybe one or two other things about it I like but can't think of at the moment, but it does look nice..

Weakness:

There were a few features of decks I've used in the past that wasn't included on this one, I thought I'd get over it but I haven't.. A Mute button is very convenient to have, I don't underestand why they didn't include a mute button on the face while it is capable of it via the remote (I believe local control should have atleast that of the remote). There is also an auxillary mode in which you can choose an external sound source, Ok... you can change the source to auxillary so where is the auxillary input in which you can plug it into the receiver? I think this is a very good feature which i've only seen on Aiwa and Panasonic decks, but if you own a laptop you can connect it to the receiver to play mp3s and any other such devices that'll float your boat. I hope pioneer redesigns their menu somehow, perhaps seperating the features... You have to cycle through maybe 7-8 menus sometimes before getting to what you want, and while you're driving this is sometimes a difficult task. The volume control is annoying...I would much rather have a knob, but since it doesn't...I liked how Alpine decks work..you press it once it goes down, you hold it..you goes down very quickly (Great for when you see a cop, mute also). The seek is rather jumpy, it sounds like when a cd-skips... enjoyed alpine's better. LCD is rather hard to see in the sunlight. Hmm..I think that's all I can think of for now, I'm rather critical of the head unit as you can tell..

This item was a gift to me. I believe at the time it was 300 dollars retail, it is an extremely great value at this price. If you were to buy an alpine which included this many features it would be atleast 400 dollars. I would recommend this product to someone else if they can deal with the weaknesses I've described above. For the 100+ dollars less I'd be paying for an alpine head unit it was worth dealing with the annoying parts.

Strength:

Just what everyone else said. This unit is the best. 4.8v preouts, sub output, no other unit will let you talor your sound so well, not just bass, mid, and treble, but how long they hit, etc. Best sound out there. Cd text, everything. Never skips.

Weakness:

My buttons have gotten a little crusty and scratched because they are rubber. No light to insert CD in the dark. No mute button, has pause though. Display hard to read in a convertable.

This CD player is awsome. If you can still find one buy it, you wont be dissapointed. I highly recommend Crutchfield.com. It doesnt have alot of gizmos and gadgets like the new Sony's which I returned for this one. It is all function. The db monitor is cool too. To watch when sound is coming from only one side. other than that it is straight buisness. I have a sub hooked up through the Sub output snd you can turn it down or up and change the frequency of it, all by itself. All the audio controls you can handle, crossovers, phasers, everything. Never skips, never. My girlfriend has a jeep and it is ruff as hell and hers doesnt skip while offroading. Kidneys fall out while it skips. The LED light when you take off the face is way cool too. Even if dont have the alarm hooked up it will still put out the light with it on. The best value for the money. I would most definatly buy another Pioneer.

Nothing at all!

I LOVE this deck. These fools at Sounds Unlimited talked me into going back to Circuit City and exchanging in my Pioneer for an Alpine. Well I did it, and then my 30 days ran out, and BOY did I freakin' regret it! The Pioneer was superior in many areas to the Alpine. My Alpine broke down twice, and I sent it off for the last time to get it fixed, and I sold it right when I got it back, and ordered the Pioneer I use to have from Crutchfield, on a great closeout price! I LOVE this head unit!!!!! Alpine really walked away from what made them so popular, and that is quality. From what I hear, they are coming out with a $2,500 deck this winter. It is suppose to set the standard for head units. But I will have to see it to believe it. This deck is incredible, awesome, everything I want for a great price. I strongly recommend this to anyone interested!

High Pass filters, front imaging enhancer

Weakness:

Can't control bass level, although I don't what deck can

I would strongly recommend this deck, although it is a discontinued mondel it is an excellent deck. The features that this deck has surpass any other deck on the market, plus it comes with a wireless remote. I paid $270 dollars for it from Crutchfield, and would recomend it to anyone.
