internal amp doesnt work w/MD or CD changer (something to do with my car)

I paid $550 for this unit, its a great unit, and does not have many flaws. It needs 4V preouts though. The internal amp only worked with my tuner, and not MD or CD changer. I use an external amplifier though. The DHE is great, it enhances sound well, and everything else works good.
