Does give out a hell of a punch, maybe 2 much power for alot of subs! defiently a amp to get if you can find a deal on it, or running some punch subs ex: hex2.

Gets to hot to quick and sound gets distortied at a decent volume. my kenwood cd player goes up to 35 around volume 28 it got bad. So....

The punch 800a2 is a fair amp at best. I had alot of problems with the amp over heating. at first i ran 4 gauge wire [ people say you cant run it, punch wont expect it well you can] then i tried 8 gauge wire and the sucker was still over heating. Grant it it never turned off, just got extremely hot! For the prices they charge to get a "quality amp" they should change their design to help regulate heat more effecient. I was running the punch 800a2 bridged into 1 channel 2 ohm load. i had 3- 12 jlw0's. so i had the amp pushing about 70% nothing really crazy, i had my subs all wired into a 2 ohm load also. and it pounded, i mean really did, but after a while my subs and amp sounded bad, so i played a bass test and found out one of my subs were bad[ not blown] so i went to work and on the way there poof! no sound, went to music'n motion were i bought the box and found out my amp was completey fried and 1 of my subs went completey dead. so i am rebuilding to get something a little louder.

if you dont know anything about car audio leave it to the professionals to hook your sounds up

Before all you people go bad mouthing this amp you better get your sh*t together.. If your subs blew up you probably hooked something up wrong.. if the amps shutting down you got something hook up wrong.. the amp runs hot yes however if you read the manual that comes with the amp all it talks about is proper mounting if you dont mount it right it wont work right.. if you still have a problem with heat go to radio shack and buy a fan..
