Gas miledge (but that was expected, it IS a 4X4 TRUCK after all) Tires wear out rather quickly (again a 4X4 truck,.... should be expected) Pronounced lean when turning. (My father has a 2000 model and his does not not have that problem) Purchased used in 2000. Very impressed with safety, reliability, craftsmanship, and the stereo system. Taken on several lengthy trips and is a pleasure to drive, and extremely comfortable Similar Products Used: Jeep Wrangler Mitsubishi Montero |

Good ride. Good engine power. Good interior room.
Weakness:
Junk: Windows had serious air leaks (two times to fix). Radiator replaced after 3 months. CD player went bad. Transmission slipped (in for repair 3 times for this. Steering came loose ( two times to fix it). Came from factory w/ too little rear end fluid. Loud clanking noise underneath. GARBAGE. Extremely disappointed w/ GM. Numerous problems. It was in in for repairs more than I drove it! I traded it in just to get rid of it w/ only 19,000 miles on it! Dealership was nice but couldn''t seem to fix anything the first time. Probably will never buy another GM product! |

RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY, RELIABILITY............ I bought this truck used 11 months ago. What a mistake! I have had nothing but trouble with this truck. Don''t get me wrong, I love this truck. It handles well, looks great, plenty of power. I just can''t keep it out of the shop. 1) Needs tranny: $2200 2) ABS module went out $1500 3) Keeps going out of alignment $still paying 4) Horrendous wind noise from third door 5) Mysterious engine shifting when towing an 18 foot trailer (engine revs up to 5000rpm for no reason) 6) From the cup holder to the bumper....everything rattles and bangs. I have only owned it for less than a year, I have put 9000 miles on it, it stands at 40000miles, I am terrified to think what else CAN go wrong with this truck! If you want a truck that looks good in the garage, this is the one for YOU! Give me a call, I have one hell of a deal for you! Similar Products Used: Have used the big three. |

roomier int.(ext cab) that ford or dodge, exc. ride and seats, 5.3 has plenty of pulling and go power, looks, no problems w/4x4 systems as of yet(nok on wood), 4-wheel disc brakes w/antilock.(this is why i got this truck instead of a ford)tow option changes the way the truck shifts, it doesnt just lock-out overdrive. avg economy, 16 hwy 12 tow (car trailer with about 2000 to 5000 lbs weight) bucket seats up front much more preffered than bench. comfortable seating for family of 5 good headroom, cofident handling
Weakness:
so far, if you change almost anything, (exc. windshield wipers) the computer has to be reprogrammed. and the only thing really reliable about the truck right now is the fact that it will have to be back in the shop. and while it has been in the shop i have had a chance to drive several other models of cars (didn''t care much for any of them but that is other problems) If GM could cross that hurdle, they would have an exc. truck. to be specific this is a GMC sierra ext. cab 4x4. basically, I love the truck, but I don''t like how many times a truck with 29000 miles on it has been in the shop. to everyone with one of these trucks that have to deal with the clunk when you put it in gear, it took 3 months to fix it turned out to be the yoke, other than that the truck died on christmas day with the family in it, took about 10 min. before it would start, the drivers window would freeze in the down position, had to replace everything in the door, still has a wind noise on the pass. side, squeaky belts, pulsing lights, oh almost forgot, the tranny started upshifting and downshifting at 35mph, put the pedal to the floor till it stopped. advice to anyone looking at these trucks- have the dealer tell you exactly what has been done warr. wise before purchase, don''t buy new, they are way to much money, buy the extended warranty, it will pay for itself. again if you get one of these trucks that don''t have problems, they are one heck of a truck. be well informed, dealerships have records on all of these Similar Products Used: 88 chevy went from a 4.3 to an old style 350, loved it 99 f150 98 z71 99fsuper duty 80 f250 94 dodge 4x4 |

Drivetrain! I bought this pickup with 27,000 miles on it and drove it as my car. I never pulled a trailer or took it off the highway to four-wheel with it. I''m glad I didnt! I replaced the transmission fluid at 38,000 miles because it was burned. I took the pickup in at 44,000 miles when the pickup wouldn''t start. The solenoid was shot on the starter. At 50,000 miles, I took it back in to have the drag link arm replaced. At 54,000 miles as I did my now regular checkup, I found that both my rear wheel seals were leaking. I then checked my transmission oil again and it was burned again! Something went to he!! in a handbasket in this pickup! Brakes. With only 1700 miles since 11/01, there haven''t been any problems whatsoever. Best truck I''ve ever owned. Powerful 5.3 The only complaint are the 265 Firestone tires (too much flex) and the brakes are not as strong as my 99 F150 I traded in. PRICE, CUSTOMER SERVICE, and sound system. I bought this truck in December of 99. I love the truck to death. Looks tough, but too many recurring problems. Tranny sometimes slips on takeoff. Firestone tires were just ridiculous. Swapped them out for 285/75/16 BF Goodrich All Terrains. The exhast system was a joke, as well as the air induction system. Swapped both of those out. Well, I''m now on my 3rd set of catalytic convertors, and they''re making noise as well. Dealer told me to get an exhaust with a "Lower" exhaust tone. Ridiculous. My BIGGEST problem was GMC Service. They are HORRIBLE. That is the main that will keep me from buying GMC again. I don''t get the squeaks, vibrations, or rattles I''ve normally heard about on these trucks. But, about 2 months, my SERVICE ENGINE light came on. Took it and had it put on a scanner, showed left front O2 sensor was bad. Changed it, the light went away. Now it''s back on again, and I gotta get it scanned again this week to figure out what''s wrong with it. I''ve had only one problem with the 4WD system. The little switch panel has shorted out once already, and now is bad again. It causes the SERVICE 4WD light to come on. Similar Products Used: Chevy S10 Blazer, S10 Pickup |
