Ford F-150 (2010 and older) Trucks | Vans

DESCRIPTION

The Ford F-150 pickup can haul more cargo and tow a heavier trailer than any of its competitors. And with a fully boxed frame, the F-150 has the strongest chassis in its class. Engineered and tested to withstand more punishment than your most difficult tasks, the F-150 is Built Ford Tough to come through with the dependability you expect in this full-size pickup.

The current F-150 does come in a host of cab, bed, powertrain, and suspension variations; there are three cab configurations with multiple wheelbases and box lengths each, providing choices to satisfy just about any trucker's need with the F-150. Properly outfitted, the F-150 can tow 10,700 pounds--while earning five-star frontal crash-test scores. A choice of V-8 engines comes with either four- or six-speed automatic transmissions, but no V-6 engine option is offered.

Strength:

Good in the snow.

Weakness:

Got a week?

Nice truck when it works, but ... Purchased in 1998, when it two years old. Repair costs have run into the thousands of dollars on this vehicle. Has been towed more times than a garbage scow. Starter croaked, power steering, oil pan rusted through before it was 3 years old, shifter cable let go ..twice ...Rear leaf springs replaced twice, idler pully, serpentine belt, cooling fan clutch, distributor cap and rotor, rear axle seals, ball joints, steering cable, hubs, front wheel bearings, U-Joints, check engine light is on more than it's off .. and on and on.

Strength:

Excellent assembly, interior materials are much better than compitition. Very good sound system. Very quiet, smooth drive train and ride. Instumentation and switch gear is top notch. Good power, but this truck is heavy and it shows. Mileage is typical. Handles well. Low turning circle.

Weakness:

Shimmy at 60-80mph. The alignment was checked and balance. It is a annoyance!! Have all doors unlock upon placing vehichle in park. Make seat cushions longer. Drive GM and you will experience a seat designed for the human tush!!! This pick-up is very tall and only NBA players can load it from the side.

Refined, Solid, Smooth and Quiet.

Super truck. 5.4L v-8 and all of the luxuries of a Ford Lariat. Traded my Expedition, reluctantly, until I again became accustomed to a pick-up.

Strength:

Great power and fuel economy and soft ride Great handling and towing

Weakness:

I haven't found any that I can see except maybe the small rear seat

This was my first truck owned and its been a great truck. Its a 4.6 with a limited slip 3.55 posi rear and has plenty of power even with the air conditioning on.Of course I did add a k & n filter a tornado air tunnel and a custom dual exhuast system and with that I get 15 to 16 in the city and 22 to 24 on the highway. The only promblem I had so far was the thotle body gets dirty and causes the engine to not start right away so every oil change I clean it and add some fuel injection cleaner and its good for another 3000 miles. This has been a fun truck and a depenable one When I was looking for a truck I did consider the silverado and ram but I have been a ford fan all my life but the ford had more standard features and better available options then the other even though the ram was a bit cheeper. I'm happy with the F-150 V-8

Run great and rides great when you are not towing.

Weakness:

Will not tow the weight it should!

I bought the F150 4x4 tow package to tow my 5000lb travel trailer. Lot of problems with the transmission and tranfer case. Do not buy an F150 to tow. The dealer told me the F150 should not have any problems towing. That is not true! The F150 is not a truck it's a passanger car.

brakes, and low end torque (could just be my 4.7 liter 5 speed model.

I bought this truck used with 17,000 miles on it in 1999. I have ran it and ran it and worked it! I have 147,000 miles on it now and counting, and it is just like new. I am a forester so it is off road as much as it is on! With that type of work environment, I have just replaced the alternator and the idler arm and tie rod. Then the normal brakes, and tires and preventive maintenance! I have been T-boned and totaled the other car and mine drive side door was repaired, like new. I have hit deer with very little damage to the front bumper. It is not once left me standing, other than the time I got stuck in the snow drift! I am a FORD fan, it has earned my respect!! I hope to order a 2004 and it be just as tough!!

Strength:

Power, towing capacity, comfortable ride for a truck

Weakness:

gas milage is only about 13 or 14 mpg in the city, although gets about 19 mpg highway, bottom of doors starting to rust on inside

I purchased my truck 21/2 yrs ago. Its been a great vehicle. Since i bought it I have put about 34,000 miles on it, and the only problems with it besides wear items has been a lower transmission seal which cost me $12 and a light switch in the passenger door which was $10. I was able to do the work for both myself. It is one of the best vehicles that I have owned. With almost 90,000 miles on it, it still runs like new.

Strength:

Timeless good looks, dependable, low maintenance. Hauls anything.

Weakness:

Brakes squeal when wet, shudder when braking fast. Dangerous handling on wet roads, and don't even leave the driveway when it snows.

My dad sold me his truck two years ago when he bought a new Silverado, which is pretty, but just not the same. With ten years and almost 200K miles under its belt, my Ford is ready for another decade or two. Only flaws are the warped brake rotors and the cozy wing on the driver's side leaks. In two years I've had to replace the muffler and tailpipe and reconnect the starter wires.
