Strength:
Very Comfortable seats. Interior is the best of all full size trucks for people over six feet tall, lots of room. 5.4 liter v8 sounds and runs great, on the fly 4x4 shifting is great. Off road has great stance and looks. Driving and handling far superior to Dodge 1500 4x4s.
Weakness:
Haven't encountered any flaws yet, hopefully gas mileage won't be too bad. I would recommend to anyone that is tall. I have not found a more comfortable interior in any other car or truck. Similar Products Used: I bought a Dodge 1500 ext cab 4x4 and owned it for one week then interior floorboards got flooded from leaky rear sliding glass. The Dodge front end also had real bad tire wear on outer edges at only 7k miles. Havent tried Chevy, don't really have a desire too after realizing the comfort and ride qualities of the Ford F150 |

Strength:
The 4.6L V8 has more than enough power and when drive right, can get upwards of 20 mpg.
Weakness:
None I couldn't recomend a better overall truck on the market. It's quick, great payload, great towing, good on gas, and very comfortable. Similar Products Used: I also had a 98 Dodge Ram 1500, with under 2,000 miles on the brakes failed and had several other little things go wrong. |

Ford F-150 S/C
Strength:
everything, it has the power, and strength i need, it is fast, and it gives me the power when I need it, I have had no problems with it, and after putting a K&N filtercharger, and a flowmaster, It has even more power to kill chevy's.
Weakness:
none, except, it didn't come with a limited slip, the first owner didn't order one I would always recommend this truck, after my 1997 was totaled, I went and bought a 1998. This truck is even better than the first, and it seems to have more power. Ford really made a vast majority of improvements from 1997 to 1998. I would recommend getting the 1998 model over the 1997 model. overall, I love this truck. Similar Products Used: 1997 ford F-150 S/C |

F150 Lightning
Strength:
Power, simplicity, solid/supportive/power seats, roomy interior, concrete suspension and braking. Basic maintenance is a snap, plenty of room to get at ever nut and bolt. Ease and ability to modify the awesome base powerplant. Did I mention power? Best strength: You can tow your boat to the drag strip, un-hook and take her down the strip.
Weakness:
Unfortunatley to give this beast a more than adequate touch of sports car handling, the Lightning is not offered in an extended cab version. I originally purchased this truck with the sole intention of towing. I wanted a vehicle that could tow over 5000 lbs, with plenty of torque to make it up hills. When I test drove this vehicle, the first thing that caught my attention was the instant torque. Wow! The very next thing was the awesome handling. The very next thing was the amazing stopping power. All I had to do with this vehicle was make the first turn and stop off of the dealers lot, to know it was a keeper. It comes complimented with the full array of options. Power everything and cd player to boot. Even factory traction bars, headers, GT40 Intake/heads, rock solid transmission and a 4:10 rear end. The seats immediately blow you away. You feel as if you just sat down in a road track car. Fully adjustable lumbar supports, plant you for good. The Lightning logo is proudly embriodered for plain view. After getting over the initial thrill of driving it, I decided to unleash a little more of the trucks power. With very simple and relatively cheap modifications, the truck came alive times 2. K&N filter, better flowing headers and exhaust, under-drive pulleys and a shift kit. I easily had the truck doing 14.5 in the quarter mile. Not bad for a 5000lb truck. Add a cheap nitrous kit and you're blowing away the pricey sports cars, with a pick-up truck! The only down fall is the fact that once you get hooked on these awesome trucks........ you'll never go back to a passenger car. However, expect to replace the rear-end and torque convertor before 70,000 miles have flown by. The only weak points on the truck, understandably, of course. My next vehicle will definetly be the new Ford Lightning, but only after I have modified this one beyond practicle everyday driving. Similar Products Used: 1992 454 SS, the only other full size comparison. The Lightning is far superior in handling, braking, ease with maintenance and modification. There actually is no comparison. Lightning wins, hands down. |

It is red and it is a 4x4. handles adaquately in a MN snow and is not superior
Weakness:
ford service and reliability. ford for sale if you want it. I have had nothing but problems with this vehicle. I love the way it drives. It handles great, but it continues to have problems. I have replaced the front rotors and pads. It had a oil leak from the oil pan. The seat tore at its seams and came apart very qiuckly thereafter. there awas a leak in the rear sliding window. The rear speakers still do not work. The rear cyclops light was burned out. the truck came with a razor blade in the tire and all of this with less then 19,ooo miles. Much of this was under my warrenty except the brakes. they cost 350.00 parts and labor. A truck this new should not have problems of this caliber!!! Above all the service department and General Manager at my dealer are very(and I mean very!) difficult to deal with. They do not return calls, they do not fix the problems or diagnosis them the first time and all this with a smile. Similar Products Used: Ford ranger, and I loved it. Scratching my heade why I gave that up |

F-150 Supper Cab 4.2 V6
Strength:
Everything. For a V6 it has the most power and get up and go out of all the other full size V6 trucks I have driven. Excellent gas mileage, on a 25 gallon tank arond town I get about 450 mile and about 530 on the highway. I was also impressd with all the options that came with it (6 disc changer, compass, thermometer, power everything) I have waited awhile to get a fullsize truck and this was definately worth my wait.
Weakness:
Ford accessories are too expensive (ie: side steps, tonneau covers) am forced to buy accessories from private shops. I paid a substantially lower price than most sine I am eligible for Fords Family Member A-Plan, but it was still priced reasonably before the discount. I would enthusiastically recommend this truck to anyone for any reason. It is a great truck and I will keep it till it cannot be driven anymore! Similar Products Used: Nothing anywhere near, all I have had is a 1996 Nissan P/U. |

Best ride of any truck! Smooooth shifting. Loads of power(even from the 4.6). Comfortable, Quiet and Ford Tough!
Weakness:
Nothing This is by far the BEST in it's class. Chevy is still running the dated push-rod engine. Dodge is...well...a Dodge and the interior is really dated! The Tundra is NOT American steel and it has NO track record. Car magizines give some good reviews of the Tundra but, I'd say whatever you wanted me to if you paid me enough! Ford always has been and always will be Americas BEST selling longest lasting truck! Similar Products Used: 1985 Nissan Kingcab |

I do like the ride and comfort when I am driving it and not the service department.
Weakness:
I don't even know where to start!!! I wouldn't even recommend a Ford to my competition. When the commercial on TV says Ford's got your ride they usually do (for repairs) Similar Products Used: 1993 Chevy- Not a bad truck but v-6 motors should not be installed in a so called "work" truck. Next step is a Dodge! |

F-150 XLT S/C 4 DR Flareside 4x2 5.4
Strength:
There is not one thing I DON'T like about my truck! I especially love the Triton 5.4 V-8 because it's so powerful and smoothe compared to Dodge Ram and Chevy Silverado. Don't get me wrong I like the power and ride of the Chevy and Dodge (well, not really as I think about all the times I've test driven them) but they don't compare to the F-150. Also I love the ride and handling as well as comfort and room. GM's new 5.3 is a good and powerful engine(i used to work at Chevrolet dealer and drove one a lot as company vehicle) but it don't compare to Ford's Triton 5.4 dependable and torque wise. I bought my F-150 used. It was 8 monts old and had 13,000 miles on it. I've had it 7 months and it now has 24,733.2 miles on it and just perfect!! I can not give enough praise about this truck and Ford's F-150!!!
Weakness:
None at this time!! I reccomend this truck to anyone who wants a dependable well built powerful full size pickup truck. Again, the new Chevy Vortec and Dodge Magnum V-8's are nice but really don't compare to the F-150's smoothe, powerful, and dependable Triton V-8. If you want the best built best selling fullsize pickup truck around that will destroy the competition, BUY A FORD!!!!! Similar Products Used: 1999 Chevy Silverado 3 DR ext cab Vortec 5.3 V-8...nice but don't compare to my F-150 in ANY way!! |
