DESCRIPTION

The Ford F-150 pickup can haul more cargo and tow a heavier trailer than any of its competitors. And with a fully boxed frame, the F-150 has the strongest chassis in its class. Engineered and tested to withstand more punishment than your most difficult tasks, the F-150 is Built Ford Tough to come through with the dependability you expect in this full-size pickup.

The current F-150 does come in a host of cab, bed, powertrain, and suspension variations; there are three cab configurations with multiple wheelbases and box lengths each, providing choices to satisfy just about any trucker's need with the F-150. Properly outfitted, the F-150 can tow 10,700 pounds--while earning five-star frontal crash-test scores. A choice of V-8 engines comes with either four- or six-speed automatic transmissions, but no V-6 engine option is offered.

Strength:

Very comfortable with the split bench seating.Having had a lick of problems and visits the garage for oil changes only. Not bad power for the V6 and the room in the extended cab is great.Starts every time and like I said earlier,I haven't had a bit of problems.I love the 4 doors, makes getting in and out of the back that much easier for passengers.I have noticed some cite the stereo as subpar, but I am quite content with the one I have in my vehicle.Again,a very roomy and comfortable riding vehicle for long hauls or short.

Weakness:

The V6 is fine, but if I were to do it all over again I would have opted for the 5.4.Since the dang thing runs so well and looks great I guess I really don't have one.Wait, there is one, with all the rain here,it does have a tendancy to slide a bit at takeoffs.

Like I said,I haven't had any problems whatsoever.I think I got a pretty good deal on the truck by taking the V6.I have hauled lots of tile and heavy loads and never had a problem with the handling or performance of the truck. Its certainly comfortable, and handles with relative ease.Heck,my wife usually scoots around in a Mustang and she has no problems with the handling.I can pack myself, wife and two teenage boys in the truck and i'll know that everyone is comfortable and more importantly safe.I do agree that the after markets products Ford offers are a tad steep so I would suggest to look elsewhere for any upgrades or additions.Overall,if you are looking for a full size truck to get you where you need to go and then some then I would highly recommend the F-150.There are many F-150 trucks out there and there has to be a reason for it!I look forward to years of ownership and a lot of fun.

Strength:

I love this truck. There isnt ONE good thing about it, I have to say, the room, the power, the looks, the ride, and all of it is AWESOME, and all built FORD TOUGH. This is a great looking truck, and for the 4.6L this block puts out GOOD FORD POWER. Another thing about the looks is, the Ford unlike Chevy's come with GREAT GROUND CLEARENCE. This truck is very roomy, and you can fit 6 people comfortably...with loads of help from the ext. cab 4 doors. AND all you guys out there talking about MPG..just put out a few more bucks and pay for gas..these trucks are pure power...they are gonna drink some gas!

Weakness:

The truck really has no weaknesses...but if I had to pick out one thing I don't like..it would be the uneven sit of the truck. The front end is factory a little lower than the back. Another thing..I would get the 5.4 if I had the chance..dont get me wrong the 4.6 is great..but 5.4 would offer more power.

Overall...I would never pick another pick up truck than FORD. They are tough, they have looks, a great ride, loads of room, entry with ease, and its a FORD. These trucks don't run for too much money, and they are DEF. worth it. So, all you guys out there looks for a tough good truck, rather it be just to cruise in..and to look good...or if it is for hard work and pulling heavy trailers..go with Ford..theres not another thing like it in the world.

Strength:

I really like the comfort, and the accessory features of the vehicle. I periodically tow a car trailer, and the towing capabilities are great. The truck handles and rides very good. It has the extended cab with the 8 foot box.

Weakness:

Fuel economy is very bad, 13 miles to the gallon without towing. This is at 55-58 miles per hr. With an empty trailer 11 miles per gal. 8-9 with medium size car on trailer. Exhaust manifolds had to be replaced because they cracked, the emmissions system on the truck is a nightmare. I have a foul odour from the tail pipe like sulfur. Just about anything you have to replace on the truck involving mechanical parts are very expensive. I can't for some reason get an answer from Ford on how to correct the faults on this truck.

I love this truck except for the economy and performance. I have 3 Ford products now, and this is the worst truck that I have ever owned. If I could only get some answers to the existing problems, and a solution to same I would probably retract my negative feelings on this vehicle.

Strength:

- Great Looks
- Excellent Power and Drivability
- Spacious and well though-out interior

Weakness:

Gas milage could be better 14 MPG.

This is my dream vehicle. I hauled my two horse trailer loaded up hills with no problem. I have driven on ice and snow and found outstanding handling for a rear drive. I've taken long trips with wife and two young children in car seats and could not believe the roominess and comfort. I haul 14' lumber in my bed with a bed extender I bought for $24 from Harbour Freight with ease. Plywood is easily caried by just dropping the tailgate. I would recommend a Roll-n-Lock tonneau cover for security and protection of you cargo. It looks great and gives you the most versatility of any rear cover I've found.

Strength:

This is the first pickup truck I have owned, I chose a Ford from my experiences with other foord products in the past. I purchased this truck with 10000 miles on it. It has never let me down it now has 129000 miles on it and runs like new. The engine is as strong if not stronger than a new engine. I have put this truck threw the ringer, I hall wood in it , tow trailers, and off road in it as often as possible with our local 4x4 club. I have had it in mud up to the trim on the doors and even deeper in water. and it just wont quit. great drive train.

Weakness:

The only problems I have had are the power door locks dont like to work all the time. and a slow window on the driver side.

I give the 1994 Ford F150 4X4 an excelent rating because of the sheer durability of this truck.

Strength:

This is one of the best pickups I have ever driven. The 5.0L is strong and has reliable performance. The 4 wheel drive works great it has taken me wherever I wanted to go.

Weakness:

The only major weakness is the expense to fix things on the 302 everything seems to be expensive.

It has been a great pickup it now has 150,000 miles. I have just replaced the clutch and decided to swap in a 5.8L for a little more power. Can't wait till I get the 5.0 in my mustang. It now runs down the road with ease I have to set the cruise or it hits 90mph before you can blink, it even beat my friends caviler in a race. I would recomend this style of pickup to anyone. It has been a real joy to drive.

Best truck I have ever owned or driven. 202000 miles on the clock and it still refuses to use any oi at all.Mobil one since it was new changed at 10000 miles.Only thing that this truck has asked for was a battery and a water pump. Needless to say it got that. Jet black and it gets waxed with # 26 paste wax.I could shave in it on a cloudy day ,original paint. Have BM elec shift inhancer installed that still chirps tires with shift into 2 and 3 . 17 mles to the gallon regardless of what it's doing. Did I mention that the air is still ice cold and not a nut on the engine or components have been turned.. Sorry I got the last of the real Fords..

Weakness:

What's the question again...See above

There is no summarizing this truck,,,I let you know at 300000 what I think.

Model Reviewed: F-150 XL 4.2 V-6

Strength:

For the price I paid (A-plan) this truck came with 40/60 split bench seats, A/C, 2-tone paint, carpet and aluminum wheels. The 4.2 V-6 runs and sounds like a V-8, and matches well with the 5-speed (overdrive) manual trans. My first vehicle exhaust testing showed close to zero emissions. This is definately a "green" environmentally friendly vehicle. I get 16MPG normal city driving. This truck is perfect for light/med duty hauling and the long bed is great for large objects, plywood, drywall etc.

Weakness:

The aviation style doors allow water to drip in (this was resolved by installing add-on visors). Shifting gets alittle stiff in cold weather (especially from 1st to 2nd gear).

The V-6 F-150 is the perfect truck for light/med-duty hauling. It looks great, handles well and has a "big truck" feel when compared to smaller trucks like Ranger, Dakota, S-10 or T-100. The interior is comfortable and the truck turns heads with the beautiful deep wedgewood metallic/silver 2-tone paint. I've rotated the Goodyear tires once and they are all wearing identically. I stop at the gas station once every 2 weeks. The engine has more than adequate power and purrs like a kitten. By far the best buy on the full-size truck market!

Model Reviewed: F150 4x4 supercab

Strength:

4x4 better looking that dork 2 wheel drive. Sits higher. Nice style of truck. Comfortable front captains chairs

Weakness:

Just about everything, 5.4 gas mileage stunk. Had a spark plug coil fail at 15,000 miles. Since that time, there was a major idling problem which three ford Dealers could not figure out, finally told me that was just a characteristic of the 5.4. Also had trouble with Alignment. After about 20,000 miles started to get a lot of rattles in the doors, barely did any four wheeling so that was not an excuse.

I had previously owned a small chevy blazer 4 x4 and wanted to get something bigger, the F150 4x4 supercab caught my eye. Before the blazer I owned an 89 Toytota SR5 supercab and loved it. The ford reminded me of just a bigger Toyota with the body style. Too bad the quality didn't come close to matching. I was displeased with the performance of the F150, the idling problems and rattles. I was especially displeased with the quality of service care I received from Santa Magarita Ford and Tuttle Click Ford here in california. Found out there was a service bulletin on the rough idle and stumbling idle, but both dealerships denied there was a service Bulletin. I got fed up and sold the truck, buying a new 2001 Tahoe. The ford doesn't even compare to the power or quality of the Chevy and I will never return to buying a ford.

Strength:

Reliable, solid, rust-free, nostalgic, lot's of power, no payment, don't have to worry about getting charged $50 just to hook it to a computer.

Weakness:

Maybe gas mileage, no power anything (or is that a strength?), people assume I'm poor just because I like the simplicity of an old truck.

I bought this truck from my grandpa in 1989 for $100. It had 70,000 miles on it and was completely stock with the 352 V-8, 4spd, posi-trac rear-end and custom cab trim option which included chrome trim, chrome front grille, AM radio, and two-tone red and white paint.
Being young and wanting something a little flashier, I added an Edelbrock aluminum intake, edelbrock carb, headers, polished aluminum rims, sport mirrors, and a hard tonneou cover. Truck always ran great and got 14 mpg on a trip to California.
The only time it ever broke down was in Oregon. Fuel pump went out. $15 dollars at a local Schucks, 30 minutes in their parking lot and I was back on the road. Sure, I could buy a brand new truck that is a little easier to steer, gets a little better mileage, and will make the neighbors jealous, but why? I've found that happiness isn't having what you want, but wanting what you have.
Besides, it seems all of these new truck have nothing but problems, why spend $30,000 on something that isn't reliable? I've got about $1,500 into my old truck and she is now a classic and is worth more than what I paid.

compared to other old trucks from the sixties, they are all pretty much the same. Chevies rust out easier, Dodges have electrical bugs and Fords just sometimes don't want to get along with you.
