Excellent job Saturn of Worcester. My transmission was replaced. According to the great service people at Saturn of Worcester, there is a problem with the old transmissions. I would suggest to any of you who have been hearing sounds from under your vehicles to have them checked out. Most likely it will be a transmission problem. If there is one thing that would keep me as a Saturn customer for the longest time, it would be the unmatched excellent service I get from the dealership. |

Whatever else that is not Exterior and Interior! I test drove this vehicle along with many others of its class and my wife and I decided that all things considered the Vue SEEMED to lead the class...(tee hee...what a joke that was!). We were all excited about our new vehicle. Loved the exterior, interior, and the smooth VTI ride (as long as it lasted). I about a month's time all hell broke lose. There were ticks...and tocks...and bumps...and rumbles...and the mechanics did their best to solve the myriad problems at the dealership. I ought to have bought an apartment near the them because I have been a very frequent visitor there. I read a review on Saturn as having the best service, and I acknowledge this from our experience with Saturn of Worcester. However, this does not matter if the product you make is a piece of junk! That's what I think this Saturn Vue is. Just a few minutes ago, I had to pick up a rental car for an indefinite period of time because while I was waiting for the dealership to fix the eternal grinding sound from the car there was a notice receive by them to also replace the transmission. How I regret having bought a Saturn! Too bad for the dealership because these guys really work hard to please customers who are irate with rage thanks to what junk the parent company makes. I should have stayed with Ford... Similar Products Used: Similar? Saturn Vue is in a class of its disappointing class. |

Where do I begin? My first Saturns in the 90s were great. My 2000 LS1 was a piece of junk. Bought the 03 Vue on faith, can't wait to dump it. The suspension shakes and bangs (replace susp. parts already). Go over bumps I can feel the banging through the steering wheel. My new lady drove it and then asked me what I was thinking when I bought it. It's loud and the transmission clunks. Sometimes it lugs then shifts. Course engine. It's just a hollow piece of junk. I am extremely disappointed. And, check out edmunds.com to see how horrible the resale is. In 5000 miles I can $15k - I've lost $8,000 in 4 months! EXTREMELY SORRY I BOUGHT IT Similar Products Used: My girlfriend's '02 Chevy TrailBlazer is a Mercedes compared to my noisy piece of junk. |

vti transmission, real noisey inside. It was my first new car purschase.I bought it because of saturns reputation and because of the price. I also like the features of wide doors and easy exit. Sadly the honeymoon ended shortly. I needed the transmission rebuilt at 13K. In my opnion the vti transmission in the vue vehicles is a lemon. Saturn I feel knows it but continues to look the other way at this time. I have shared with other owners on line and im not alone with vti troubles. The rear kick in the pants is the cost for the owner to repair the vti. Believe it or not its up near the $9,000 mark. Thats at least what I have been told. Saturn even has a service bullitin out to dealers how to repair the strange noises this unit makes. Hopefully the problems have been addressed in the 2004 model but I would not chance it. Consumer will blow the lid off this problem in the April issue im sure.Maybe at that time saturn will come clean and offer vti owners free extended coverage but I doubt it. Most owners seem to bury their heads in the sand and feel the noises are not serious, but in 3 years they maybe shelling out some BIG money for repairs. Maybe thats what Saturn hopeing for? Will all that said if your buying this vehicle buy it with the V6 which has a different transmission. You will love the way its drives and looks. The anti dent side panals are great. It confortable inside and roomy. Dont expect to much different treatment than most regular good car dealers as I think saturn is looseing its drive to please customers as they did years ago. I found the service ok but nothing to praise about like at Lexus or Infinity. |

Great look, excellent gas milage, strong engine, I love it
Weakness:
Cheap looking interior, Wind noise from roof rack. Good sturdy SUV without the major sticker price. I personally love the vehicle thus far. I like the sleek outdoors styling of the vehicle. I also like the power package that comes with the temp, compass, power windows, security system, etc. Excellent vehicle Similar Products Used: I checked out the X-terra but for some odd reason Nissan didn't want to lower their price. I went to Saturn and they gave me exactly what I wanted for my trand and threw in a few extras. |

GREAT EXTERIOR LOOK. EASY TO HANDLE. CARGO AREA BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS. GREAT STEREO (UPGRADE)
Weakness:
GAS MILEAGE LOWER THAN EXPECTED. POOR INTERIOR DESIGN FOR CUPHOLDERS, USELESS CENTER COMPARTMENT. COMPARTMENTS IN REAR DOORS USELESS. SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF SPACE WASTED. SEATS IN CHEAPER ION SERIES BETTER THAN IN VUE. HOOD VIBRATES WHEN DRIVING IN WINDY CONDITIONS. I LIKE THE VEHICLE OVERALL, HOWEVER, ONE PROBLEM THAT BOTHERS ME EVERYTIME I DRIVE IS THE LOWER THAN STATED GAS MILEAGE. MY INITIAL HWY MPG WAS 21. I WAS READY TO RETURN THE VEHICLE AND GET MY MONEY BACK, BUT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE GAS MILEAGE GETS BETTER AFTER THE FIRST OIL CHANGE. HOW CONVENIENT FOR THEM. IF IT DOESN'T GET BETTER I CAN'T RETURN IT AT THAT POINT. I HAVE KEPT TRACK OF THE MILEAGE ON EVERY FILL UP SINCE PURCHASE. TO DATE MY OVERALL MPG IS 19. NOT VERY GOOD!! ALSO, HOOD RATTLES IN HEAVY WIND, AND AM STARTING TO HEAR RATTLES IN DOORS. GOOD THING I UPGRADED THE STEREO TO BLOCK OUT THE ANNOYING SOUND. Similar Products Used: JEEP LIBERTY, CHEROKEE. So far so good! I bought a v6, fwd 2003 Vue and love driving it. It's my third saturn and I have always had good luck with them. The engine is a bit noisy but I listen to the cd player so its not an issue for me. |

I drove everything in its class except the Kia and Hyundai (due to the Koreans not being able to make a vehicle to last past warranty). The Vue was by far the best handling out of the rest of the small suv's. It really does drive like a car. I'm a professional driver and after a month this thing still excites me. Gas Mileage has been below what Transport ratings were, but not dramatically. Keeping in mind its under break in still and I'm sure things will get better. Here is what my math tells me. 24-25 IMP (Not US) MPG combined. 30 MPG on the nose for a short highway trip (350 km) under ideal circumstances. I've been babying it too. If you like to pack your rig full of stuff like I do, this is the Suv for you. The folding front passenger seat really helps to get long, odd objects in and the 70/30 rear seat still lets you have two good sized passengers with the front seat down. I've had nothing but compliments on it from other people (if that kind of thing matters to you). I didn't think the electric steering would be easy to get use to, but it has really won me over. Just dont break it out of warranty. The parts manager said $1600 Canadian for just the part...Yikes!
Weakness:
Heres the bad with the good. The Ford Escape and CRV both had WAAAYYY more comfortable seats. Saturns interior is really cheap looking by comparrison. I have noticed (more than when test driving) that there seems to be a lot of Torque steer under acceleration. I would like a way to turn on the hatch lights from the back, or a second dome for just the cargo area that isn't on the lift gate. Heres the real choker for me on this vehicle and I didn't notice it before I bought it. There is no key access to the rear lift gate. You are stuck using the power locks or Keyfob to unlock it. Saturn cheaped out on this big time. The roof rack picks up a fair bit of wind noise, but which one doesn't? The rear seat doesn't fold perfectly flat. In the rear you feel like a little kid because you sit so low. I guess being surrounded by door is safer than surrounded by glass. Who cares on this anyway, I don't sit there. I bought it to drive. So far minor gripes. Any major ones will be posted here for sure. Hope this helps someone. Took a Huge leap of faith and bought the Vue. Especially since dealers wouldn't deal at all on the MSRP and options. Purchased the V-6 Front wheel Drive only model. All the feedback here really helped keep me from making a collossal mistake and choosing a 4cly model with the Vti automatic tranny. I arranged a Test drive day so I could drive the 3 real contenders all back to back and see them side by side. It was really helpful in making up my mind regarding differences in the 3. I even loaded them up with cargo. (I mean loaded!) Test drive day included the Vue, Escape, and Honda CRV. I had driven and ruled out lots of the others by that time. Similar Products Used: I test drove all the competition. The Honda CRV was really working hard in comparison to the V-6's in the competition. The Toyota really didn't have any cargo room to speak of. VUE AWD
Strength:
Vehicle is built strong, dent proof panels, galvanized steel cage. I like the electric steering, very smooth. Handles well, drives like a car. Overall I like everything about this vehicle except the VTI transmission. When it works it's nice and smooth, but there are just too many problems with it.
Weakness:
Transmission is too noisy. VTI is a nightmare waiting to happen. If you buy one of these vehicles, get one WITHOUT the VTI variable transmission. I posted here before on this vehicle and it's been 2.5 months now. In that time the VUE AWD 4 with VTI transmission has been in the shop twice for transmission problems, once for rear differential replacement with another transmission noise starting to show, gas guage sometimes won't read full, all known problems of this vehicle. Check out saturnfans.com for more VUE VTI transmission stories. I like the way this vehicle handles, generally like everything except the shoddy variable transmission they put in it. Why does Saturn test these things on the consumer? Similar Products Used: I've had three Saturn SL1's in the past with no problems at all. That is why I went with the VUE. I expected the same from a brand new VUE, not being back in the shop every 3 weeks. |
