Strength:

It's a TANK! Wrecks anything it hits with minor damage.
keeps on ticking even after LONG road trips and over 100000 miles.

Weakness:

RUST!!!NO power! Mine failed every ommisions test. Is that common for Pathfinders?

I love my Pathfinder! It has it's problems(don't we all?!) but overall it's been good to me.I'm looking for a newer one now.

Strength:

Ride, handling, the ability to take it anywhere. First rate quality build. The adjustable shocks really work as well as the limited-slip differential.

Weakness:

Not enough power. Fuel economy. No CD player. My Pathfinder SE's model year didn't offer a similarly-sized spare for its huge 31-inch tires.

Love it. Worth the money. Nothing else. This Pathfinder has never given me any big problems after 105,000 miles. I have seen other SUVs and other cars have major transmission, engine, drivetrain, etc. problems even before they reach 30,000 miles.

If there was one problem with my Pathfinder, it would be the somewhat leaking exhaust manifolds, but they never seem to give me any big problems maintenance wise. I'll probably get them fixed when I have the money. Automatic transmission's fine. Engine's fine. Had two in-warranty repairs with the throttle and the windows, but that was six years ago. After those...you tell me what's wrong with it.

Similar Products Used:

2001 and later Pathfinders should have more horsepower than this version. Otherwise, there is no comparison. A late model Pathfinder is worth the money. You can even get a full-size spare and an excellent sound system, too.

Strength:

Looks definitly-looks new, sleek and sophisticated, not too big, not too small, hauling capabilities, handling style-like a car, but better

Weakness:

gas mileage,
I needed to replace the gas tank, but was told that was very rare. The mechanic had never heard of needing a new gas tank.
I needed a new starter just this year, which is apparently very rare as well

This truck will last forever! It's wonderful. It's a perfect size. You would think you are driving a car, but you are higher up and safer. This truck is very dependable. I have had it for almost 9 years now, and it has been a doll. It is very appealing to the eye, and mine is in good shape except for some rust that is being fixed right now. Handles great in 4 wheel drive, snow is not a problem at all. It has pretty good acceleration, I guess as well as can be expected. It's a 5 speed manual, and I love it!
If you want a reliable SUV-THIS IS THE ONE
If you want quality-THIS IS YOUR BEST PICK
If you want a GREAT SUV-HERE IT IS

Strength:

Good horse power and inside amenities.

Weakness:

The memory function for the power seats doesn't work.
Side boards are just for looks. The way they are positioned, they don't help getting in and out at all
Stock tires are not great—the Cherokee’s 17” tires are much better off road and look awesome.
The JGC kicks the Pathfinder’s ass off road. Compare the Live axle of the GC against the weak independent of the PF.
Lack of rear door space. Back seats are difficult to get in and out of. Very tight for bigger people.
Sunroof is noisy when you open it. Could use better arm rests.
Buttons (window, cruise, etc) are cheap and less than friendly.
Running pipes are only for look, spongy breaks, small rear view mirror, cheap looking dashboard.
Engine noise at higher RPM's isn't sporty sounding, just noisy.
Radio reception is not very good.
No available skid plate, lots of blind spots (when backing up), and the horn is weak.
No readily available after market off road items (ie lift kit)
Cannot modify stock stereo easily--you have to change both the speakers AND head unit because of the individual amplifiers.
Gas mileage is not quite what Nissan claims to be, and you need to use premium unleaded for optimal performance--it does make a difference.
Poor turning radius and not enough ground clearance. Forget about driving thru a river!
The pathfinder is really bad on slippery roads. The combination of RWD and a light tail insures that this car will spin when you accelerate.

Good but one can do better with a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Similar Products Used:

If you what you're looking for is experience, legacy, off-road capability, great looks and unmistakable character in an SUV, then forget about the Pathfinder and go buy the Grand Cherokee. I tried the Explorer and the Mounteneer, but only the Eddy Bauer and Limited are comparable in features, but not in ride. The TrailBlazer doesn't have a track record yet, and cost more than Cherokee 2001. The Buick Randevouz is too van-like and has no stability while turning and very weak engine. Not impressive acceleration is the '01 Oldsmobile Bravada's fault. The Toyota Highlander, Mazda Tribute are overpriced, and 4 Runner doesn't have enough horse power. The Jeep Grand Cherokee is the undisputed choice in the 30,000 range. Besides they have fantastic financing terms (1.9%) and you can definitely negotiate the sticker price at least 2K less than MRSP.

Strength:

everything about it was well thoughtout and no expenses spared.

Weakness:

I've noticed the oil level going down after long road trips.....typical, but workable

I researched all the mid size SUV’s and found the Pathfinder 2001 to be the best deal in town. I waited for the year-end sale and got an LE (leather, sunroof, tow, 4x4) for $31,000….not bad. The pathfinder offers a car like ride (smooooth), compared to the pick-up truck ride from the 4 Runner. The 4-Runner is a nice car, however, the interior appears to be dated and the dash is the same as the 1987 toyota pick-up I owned in high school. The pathfinder has an excellent dashboard lighting system and the LE offers all the electronic features necessary for a comfortable ride.

But it’s the engine that set the two apart. The pathfinder’s 240 horsepower is incredible compared to all other SUVs in the market.

Bottom line: It’s a truck with a car like ride and power……best deal in town!!

Strength:

Reliable, good build quality, nice ride, Nissan quality. The car looks and feel as if it were newer.

Weakness:

Weak engine and a little noisy, my only complaints!

The car has performed almost flawlessly during the 5 years I've owned it. The build quality and structural integrity of the car are outstanding, in my opinion. Nissan has been remarkable in is customer satisfaction. The manifold warped at about 80K miles and it was replaced on warranty. Wow! I will definitely buy another Nissan product.

Strength:

confortable and stylish

Weakness:

cd player is useless and minor mechanical problems

So far I have replaced the manifold and some of the emmisions. I thought this would take care of the engine light that was on. The light came on again yesterday, so back to the dealership I go! My brakes make a horrible noise and the transmission shifts pretty hard. I am really surprised at the trouble I have been having. I always heard that Nissan's were reliable vehicles and worth the money. I am having my doubts about that now. As far as the drive, it is very confortable and I love the way it looks.

drives nicer that a 4-runner, but my past experiance tells me toyota's are more worry free
